Our 425 sf studio is quiet, private, and ideally situated in the heart of JP-a 4 min. walk to the subway. It offers a super comfy bed, a full size bath, and all the necessities-wifi, cable TV, full kitchen, dining nook, and free on-street parking
Our studio apartment is on the 1st floor rear of our 1868 Jamaica Plain Victorian home.
Enter through your fully private entrance. The studio is filled with windows and drenched in natural light. There is a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker), a generous sized full bathroom, and a sizable bedroom/living area with a dining nook.
The space is 425 sq. ft and is home to a super comfy queen bed and all the necessary furnishings. You will enjoy complete privacy as the studio is separated from the rest of our house by a sound-proof wall and the private entrance.
Amenities include free broadband wifi, HD cable TV, DVD player (with a selection of movies). We provide soap, shampoo, towels, a hairdryer, and an ironing board for your convenience. Oh, and plenty of free on-street parking-no special permit required.
Jamaica Plain is the best neighborhood in Boston for its proximity to lovely Victorian houses, beautiful Jamaica Pond, the Emerald Necklace, and the Arnold Arboretum -- but also for its simple access to Longwood Medical Center and downtown. We are a 4 minute walk to the Stony Brook station of the Orange line subway. There are many pubs, coffee shops and restaurants within a few blocks as well as a Whole Foods Market and a laundromat.
Beautifully furnished for a single traveler or a couple, you will not find a more lovely space that's more centrally located to everything Boston has to offer.
We are an active family of four (two sons 10 & 12), and we've hosted dozens of international guests from all over the world -- many of whom have become good friends! We're happy to have you as a guest and look forward to giving you the best advice for your stay "in town".
Our studio will make you feel like you've found your home away from home.
Our guests enjoy a completely private entrance to our sunny studio. There is free on-street parking available--many of our guests park their car and choose to explore Boston by public transportation or bike (using our great Hubway rental system).
Interaction with Guests
The studio is a separate apartment from our home which is attached. We love to personally welcome our guests when they arrive if possible, and are always available for any questions or concerns. Your privacy and enjoyment is important to us, so we always respect your personal space.
JP is the best neighborhood in Boston! Wander our streets filled with restored Victorian homes and beautiful gardens. It's hard to believe that you are only a few minutes away from the heart of Boston by convenient subway. The folks who live here are a great mix of artists, professionals, musicians, etc. We have a vibrant center with many local-owned cafes, pubs and Zagat-rated restaurants. The area has lots of green space between Jamaica Pond, the Arnold Arboretum, and Southwest Corridor Park.
The Orange Line subway is a 4 minute walk from the studio which gets you direct to Downtown Boston in about 10 minutes--very convenient! There are several bus lines that run within 2 blocks of our place that also go into town as well as Longwood hospital area and the Museum of Fine Arts. Have a car? There is free on-street parking always available close by. Rent a bike at any of the 5 JP Hubway rental stations and explore the sites and green spaces.
We do not allow any pets on the property to protect our guests and family from allergies. There is no smoking on the property. Please feel free to take a walk around our lovely neighborhood if you need a smoke. Otherwise we have no real "rules" except common courtesy please.
We always want our guests to feel as much at home as possible, so feel free to do so. Should you need something or have a question, just ask! We are always happy to help.
Most of all, enjoy your visit here in our studio!
We enjoyed the studio, it is well located, confortablem, spacious and beautiful. We strongly recomend it. It was a wonderfull experience and a lovely trip. Chirs and Kristina were very kind and if we have the oportunity to travel again to Boston we will certaintly apply again, Betania and Joana
The studio was a fantastic place to stay on my recent trip to Boston. It's clean, cozy, and private, exactly what I was looking for. Public transportation is very accessible so getting around town was a breeze. I would stay at Kristina and Chris's again in a heartbeat.
Hosts were warm & welcoming, yet gave us plenty of space. The studio is cozy & suited our needs. The studio is located in a lovely part of the neighborhood that's quiet (good for sleeping!) yet a very quick walk to many amenities (good for socializing/eating/seeing the town).
The studio was a great space and a great starting point from which to explore JP and Boston! It was compact, but the size was perfect for the two of us. The studio is very comfortable, and there's a full kitchen that we didn't take advantage of, but it would be great for someone staying a little more long term. Very close to the T station, Jamaica Pond, and a good variety of cafes, restaurants, and bars. We also had a rental car, and there is ample free street parking, which was really nice. Chris and Kristina were wonderful, too - we had an issue with the space heater and they were very quick and responsive. We would definitely recommend the studio to anyone traveling to Boston or Jamaica Plain.
The hosts were not home when we arrived, but they left a key and directions to the room (which had its own entrance and was on the side of the house). The house was on a street with old Victorian houses and duplexes. The room was on a very quiet side street. It was very pleasant not to have traffic going back and forth.
The bedroom had a queen size bed, was attractively decorated, and had a TV/DVD, ample closet and drawer space. The room also had a selection of DVDs and books. There was an efficiency kitchen with dishes, flatware, microwave, stove, and coffee maker. There was also a small dining area with a small table and 2 chairs. (We didn't use the kitchen because we were with family from morning until evening each day. So I didn't look inside the cabinets or refrigerator).
The bathroom had a good shower, shampoo and conditioner, hair dryer, and several shelves by the sink for toiletries. There were towels of various sizes and several towel racks.
This room was very comfortable, cozy and quiet. My impression was that the hosts really thought about amenities that would be appreciated by travelers.
Host was perfect. From getting the keys, to the place being as advertised and clean. 5 star host and very nice place to stay!

We are Chris and Kristina. We met more than 20 years ago and have lived in Boston ever since. We are both professionals (Kristina works in Higher-Ed and I work for a technology company). We have lived in our 1868 Victorian for over 10 years and love our space in JP.
We have lived all over Boston but have always considered Jamaica Plain the best neighborhood in town... partly because it is a true neighborhood. Nowhere else in the city can you be 5-minutes from dense nature that obscures the hustle and bustle of urban life by Jamaica Pond or the Arboretum, while still being minutes from Fenway Park, Longwood medical center, and great restaurants!
We have two sons, 11 & 10, and we love to avail ourselves of the city and community we love. We coach baseball, basketball, and flag football, and love to explore, meet new people, and share what we know about Boston with anyone interested.
For many years we hosted international students coming to Boston to study English and have hosted folks from Korea, Japan, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and Kazakhstan. These former guests are now good friends and we enjoyed being their ambassadors to Boston.
We welcome you to our space!
