Jamaica Plain is the best neighborhood in Boston for its proximity to lovely Victorian houses, beautiful Jamaica Pond, the Emerald Necklace, and the Arnold Arboretum -- but also for its simple access to Longwood Medical Center and downtown. We are a 4 minute walk to the Stony Brook station of the Orange line subway. There are many pubs, coffee shops and restaurants within a few blocks as well as a Whole Foods Market and a laundromat.
Beautifully furnished for a single traveler or a couple, you will not find a more lovely space that's more centrally located to everything Boston has to offer.
We are an active family of four (two sons 10 & 12), and we've hosted dozens of international guests from all over the world -- many of whom have become good friends! We're happy to have you as a guest and look forward to giving you the best advice for your stay "in town".
Our studio will make you feel like you've found your home away from home.
Our guests enjoy a completely private entrance to our sunny studio. There is free on-street parking available--many of our guests park their car and choose to explore Boston by public transportation or bike (using our great Hubway rental system).
Interaction with Guests
The studio is a separate apartment from our home which is attached. We love to personally welcome our guests when they arrive if possible, and are always available for any questions or concerns. Your privacy and enjoyment is important to us, so we always respect your personal space.
JP is the best neighborhood in Boston! Wander our streets filled with restored Victorian homes and beautiful gardens. It's hard to believe that you are only a few minutes away from the heart of Boston by convenient subway. The folks who live here are a great mix of artists, professionals, musicians, etc. We have a vibrant center with many local-owned cafes, pubs and Zagat-rated restaurants. The area has lots of green space between Jamaica Pond, the Arnold Arboretum, and Southwest Corridor Park.
The Orange Line subway is a 4 minute walk from the studio which gets you direct to Downtown Boston in about 10 minutes--very convenient! There are several bus lines that run within 2 blocks of our place that also go into town as well as Longwood hospital area and the Museum of Fine Arts. Have a car? There is free on-street parking always available close by. Rent a bike at any of the 5 JP Hubway rental stations and explore the sites and green spaces.
We do not allow any pets on the property to protect our guests and family from allergies. There is no smoking on the property. Please feel free to take a walk around our lovely neighborhood if you need a smoke. Otherwise we have no real "rules" except common courtesy please.
We always want our guests to feel as much at home as possible, so feel free to do so. Should you need something or have a question, just ask! We are always happy to help.
Most of all, enjoy your visit here in our studio!
Kristina gave us a warm welcome and "happy birthday." The apartment was exactly as advertised--very clean, cheerful, and quiet-- and there was ample parking on the street. There was a basket filled with suggestions for meals and activities in the neighborhood, which was very helpful. Jamaica Plain is awesome--pretty streets and parks, great eating options, and close to grocery stores and shops. It's a short train ride on the Orange Line into Boston and we made good use of the weekly passes we purchased. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Boston. Thanks, Kristina.
We found this charming rental in a leafy neighbourhood to be just right: easy to find, clean and cozy, a welcoming host and great information about the area. Communication with hosts was quick and efficient. We will most certainly consider this listing for our future travel plans to Boston.
This is a very sunny, ground level studio. It is clean, well appointed and in a great location in Jamaica Plain. It is easy walking distance to the subway, shops and restaurants in this comfortable neighborhood. Chris and Kristina are warm and welcoming, making for lovely hosts. We will certainly stay here again in our next visit to Boston.
Kristina and Chris were wonderful hosts. Their studio apartment was clean and quiet and had everything we needed for our brief time there. They made themselves available to answer questions. They were even flexible on our check out time when our plans had to change due to outside circumstances. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in town. Jamaica Plain is a wonderful historic and safe neighborhood.
Good communication and very friendly welcome. We were confused when we arrived because the entry in the pics is not the entry to the studio. Kristina was there in a flash to sort us out and let us in. That kind of personal service is what distinguishes a good AirBnB experience, IMO.
Place was immaculate. That means a lot to me! Some of the furnishings were a bit funky but everything was serviceable. Bathroom is huge with great storage, lots of hot water and plenty of water pressure. The bed is comfy but the bedding was less so.
We were in town for a hospital stay, so we didn't get to see much, but JP looks really wonderful. The local architecture is worth returning for and the reviews for area restaurants seem to indicate JP is a diner's mecca. So sorry I was eating hospital food!
Parking was never a problem even though when you first drive into the area, it's hard to imagine how you'll find a place -- just very dense! My husband was always a bit nervous about getting a spot after returning from the hospital late at night, but he found one every single time. The trick for us was to navigate beyond the street the house is on and find our way to a one-way street that comes down along the studio. This allowed him to essentially park right across the street every time. The neighborhood feels very safe and we weren't worried about leaving stuff in the back of the car.
We hit a cold snap and had to use the space heater. It worked quite well. I'd be concerned about being the person on the right side of the bed, with the A/C right next to me, during the summer. Only other concern is that the place does not get fully dark (streetlights and morning sun) so if that's an issue for you, bring an eye shade. Worked for me. Noise level was minimal from the neighborhood. If guests are staying upstairs, that could be a different story, depending on their consideration.
Bottom line: Great if funky place, lovely hosts, cool neighborhood, good price. Would definitely recommend to those looking for value and personality.
Great location, comfortable sudio and really nice, responsive hosts! Everything you need in a really fun neighborhood. Wonderful coffee in the room too!

About the Host, Chris & Kristina
We are Chris and Kristina. We met more than 20 years ago and have lived in Boston ever since. We are both professionals (Kristina works in Higher-Ed and I work for a technology company). We have lived in our 1868 Victorian for over 10 years and love our space in JP.
We have lived all over Boston but have always considered Jamaica Plain the best neighborhood in town... partly because it is a true neighborhood. Nowhere else in the city can you be 5-minutes from dense nature that obscures the hustle and bustle of urban life by Jamaica Pond or the Arboretum, while still being minutes from Fenway Park, Longwood medical center, and great restaurants!
We have two sons, 11 & 10, and we love to avail ourselves of the city and community we love. We coach baseball, basketball, and flag football, and love to explore, meet new people, and share what we know about Boston with anyone interested.
For many years we hosted international students coming to Boston to study English and have hosted folks from Korea, Japan, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and Kazakhstan. These former guests are now good friends and we enjoyed being their ambassadors to Boston.
We welcome you to our space!
