About this listing
Very BEST location - walk to everything. Clean, fresh decor, - full kitchen use and w/d. - fresh paint/decor jul '15. Great house, neighborhood, quiet, safe, warm, clean, mold freeWalk everywhere - 20 min to UNC Cable TV, comfortable/spacious/light.
The first thing everyone says when they walk in the door here is, "Wow! What a beautiful house!" This house was built in 1922 - it's an original Historic Mill House - comfortably decorated for ease of living, with a great front porch for hanging out. Most people ride their bikes or walk here - so there's not a lot of traffic. House is clean, real hardwood floors throughout, smoke free, and uncluttered. Rooms are spacious (15'x15') with 14' ceilings - so it feels very open and airy. This is a great place to stay if you're coming into town for a game, or if you are a visiting professor or resident - 28 day rotations - visiting family, or coming to look at real estate. It's one of the best neighborhoods in the entire area, and a perfect little magical street with great neighbors. The house is very inviting, and as of July 2015 - house has been repainted, new decor, and newly landscaped. You will have all the amenities you need to be comfortable and well taken care of. You have full use of the kitchen - your home away from home. I will personally greet you to be sure that your stay here is perfect. One Note: The bathroom is small. This house was built in 1922 and has the original clawfoot bathtub - which is great, but the bathroom is not a spacious one, so it's not ideal for XL peeps.
Guests have access to the entire house, including the full kitchen, and beautiful yard. There is parking in the driveway - washer and dryer, GREAT front porch with a bistro set (I love my front porch) and a backyard. One of the bedrooms is a professional office, so if you want to work while you're here you can, and it's designed to see clients as well, as that is how I use it when I'm here.
Interaction with Guests
You will have total privacy, and if you need me I will be just a keypad away.
The neighborhood is ideal, literally. Carrboro is 4 square miles of fantasy as far as ideal living goes. Everything you need is within walking distance, including the UNC campus and hospital. There are great restaurants, a local health food store (just 2 streets over), and entertainment close by if that's what you seek. My neighbors are lovely and it's very quiet at night, and always safe. There is live music, a farmers market, and just about anything you could want or need. Trader Joe's is 4 miles away.
There is public transportation if you need it. And if you like to walk, this is a great place to be. UNC is a 20 min walk from here, and everything else you could want or need is a five minute walk. My car is in the driveway, but there is room for yours there too. The bus stop is up the street and the buses are free.
Other Things to Note
This is a two bedroom (one bedroom is an office). house with a living room and a parlor/office - sleeps two - bed is memory foam and there is tons of space for personal belongings in the bedroom. My personal belongings are completely removed from the bedroom when I rent this (website hidden) has cable, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV. No house phone.
No smoking or drugs. No pets. Sorry - no exception to either one of these :)
Our experience was great. The house is on a very quiet side street in a charming neighborhood. It is much larger and more spacious than it appears in the photo, so we were pleasantly surprised. Everything was very clean and tidy with a very homey atmosphere. The location is key as it is a very easy walk to shops and restaurants of Carrboro and Chapel Hill. We would definitely stay here again!
Sharon was great with coordinating my parent's visit. She left the keys in a convenient location and the house is beautiful! It's so charming and the outside space is great. I wanted my parents to be able to walk everywhere to get the real Carrboro experience and this house is perfect for that. The backyard is adorable and we spent a lot of time sitting there. If you are looking to have family visit you in Carrboro or are trying to get an authentic experience of the area, this house is perfect!
We stayed for 3 weeks in January 2015 - our first accommodation having just relocated from NYC - and Sharon's home was absolutely perfect for us. The entire house is very cozy and comfortable and well-decorated with interesting and beautiful art. The house gets great natural light throughout the day and is very quiet and peaceful. The bedroom was very comfortable and the Apple TV worked perfectly. The office was great for working from home. The kitchen is well-stocked and a great space to cook in.
The location of Sharon's house could not be better. Short walk to all of downtown Carrboro and Chapel Hill - great restaurants, music, shopping, etc. There's a great Harris Teeter grocery store around the corner. Easy highway access for getting to Durham and Raleigh.
Sharon and Kate were easy to communicate with and very welcoming and helpful during our stay. Kate gave us great restaurant suggestions and helped gather a few pieces of mail for us that arrived after we checked out.
I would not hesitate to recommend this rental home and will surely look forward to staying here again in the future! - Matt & Krista
Great location in downtown Carrboro, easily walkable to grocery stores, restaurants, and bars. House is light-filled and quiet night and day. Bedroom is unusually spacious with ample storage.
Everything was as listed and expected. . . historic charm in a great walkable neighborhood. . . quiet, pleasant, friendly.
The hostess, Sharon Jeffers was extremely friendly, nice and accommodating. Every request is quickly met.
A lovely, relaxing experience. The house is clean, comfortable, and filled with character. Left me wishing I had a longer stay to explore all the books in the home. Convenient and walkable to everywhere we wanted to be in Carrboro and Chapel Hill, but once in the house we felt like we were in our own little world far away from the hustle and bustle. Everything we needed was provided. Will definitely stay there again!
The Mill House was everything expected. Delightful house with lots of character. Hardwood floors throughout. The décor left us wanting to know more about Sharon. The house was within walking distance to our grandchildren's grade school. Downtown Carrboro and a great little Coffeehouse, We could even walk to our Children's house. It was only 15 minutes away. We counted 15 buddhas, good karma was everywhere.
