Enhanced Clean
This Host committed to Airbnb's 5-step enhanced cleaning process.
Sit by our salt water pool, sip rosé, and marvel at the gorgeous scenery of the French Riviera. A stunning jewel box that transports you back in time. With exquisitely designed Chef's kitchen, the only other one like it is in the Smithsonian museum in Washington D.C. Ours, you can cook in! Tucked away & close to everything.

Built on the homestead of Simone Beck, by Paul and Julia Child. Beck and Child co-wrote the bestselling cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" Volumes I and II.

The space
This cottage sits on well-maintained acres of gardens nestled just outside the community of Grasse. Easy access to beaches, perfume factories, grocery stores, and more. A secluded estate of a few homes, just off a main road. Feels far away and close to everything all at the same time.

La Pitchoune's 3 bedroom, 3.5 Bathroom property boasts glorious gardens (including a very large potager or veggie garden, and eggs daily from our chickens) and of COURSE TWO kitchens that are designed for cooking. Indoor AND outdoor. Indoor has a LaCanche double oven and stove with five burners. Outdoor has a BBQ, a pizza oven, and a tuscan grill (wood fired stoves require assistance from our staff, and are not available in July or August). BBQ is available year-round.

Yes, the indoor kitchen still has the pegboard known and loved by fans the world over. The space can comfortably sleep 6 adults, and we have additional sleeping spaces (think shared sleeping mats) for children (up to 3 easily).

La Pitchoune was built by Julia and Paul Child in the 1960's and has hosted hundreds of famous food influencers over the years. In the 1990's Kathie Alex turned it into a cooking school, Cooking with Friends in France, and is now the home of Okay, Perfect's Cookery School.

We are only available on Airbnb during our 'off-season months' which are December-February or so. Cooking classes run from April through June, and September though October.

During the high-season months (June, July, & August) you must book directly through us. Weekly rates are inclusive of 4 chef's cooked meals, unlimited wine (house & 24 bottles from our favorite vintners), on-call concierge, and daily breakfast service. Price starts at $18,000 a week for six people.

To find our site and book simply search for "la peetch" on any browser.

In the off season (December-February) La Pitchoune can be yours to enjoy however you please! For new Airbnb users: La Pitchoune is not a hotel. It is a living, breathing home that is and has been used heavily as a cooking school and home for nearly 50 years. It is also an indoor/outdoor living space, with many many nooks and crannies! It is always clean as a whistle when you arrive, every surface scrubbed and whisked. But know that it might not be up to the expectations of a traditional hotel go-er. It is an old house, with the same charms attached.

Where you’ll be

Châteauneuf-Grasse, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

You're in the heart of Provence food country. There are literally hundreds of restaurants, wineries, and markets without a 2 hour drive. All of the recommendations are located in the 'black book', our guest guide in the home. No places need advanced reservations (beyond a day or two), unless during a national holiday/weekend during the high season.

Makenna Held is a women's leadership coach, the CEO of the courageous cooking school at La Peetch (Julia Child's former summer home in France), the CEO of ALo Records (one of the very few women-owned record labels in the country) and hails from Colorado. She lives mostly in Provence, France; spends idle time in Door County, Wisconsin; and can be found slaying the slopes in Colorado depending on the time of year. When not at 'home' she can be found galavanting the world with her partner, Chris, and their Vintage Green VW bus.

During your stay

Sometimes we’re around, sometimes we’re not. But there is always a human being to check you in and a concierge lives on site most weeks.

What we do guarantee is a stocked larder for the first few days of breakfasts, some treats, and more. The owners frequently are on site, as well.
