The Space

Convenient Foster-Powell apartment on quiet street. Our SE location is a short drive/ride to Hawthorne, Belmont, Division, and downtown Portland.

You will have the key to your own private entrance. Apartment is very roomy and plenty of space to spread out, separate bedroom with door. Inside you'll find a pillow top queen-size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets in your bedroom, a full size futon in the living room, a kitchen with fridge, microwave, and dishwasher, a tiled bathroom with shower, wi-fi, washer/dryer on the premises. Large tree filled side yard to relax in and plenty of free street parking.

There is a large flat screen television with DVD player and assortment of movies. We do not have cable but do have an antenna to receive the basic network channels, also a cord to use with certain computers to play directly from your computer. This is good for Netflix streaming, iTunes and anything else on your computer.
Philips radio/IPOD dock with CD player.

House includes sheets, towels, dishes, tea, coffee, salt/pepper.
There is not a full size stove but we do have two burner stovetop and pots/pans. Also microwave, electric skillet, water hot pot, coffee maker, toaster, and crock pot....plenty of ways to cook!
KID FRIENDLY, in apartment closet you will find pack-n-play, high chair, stroller, dishes, and toys.

Please read house rules before you book...thanks!
I have listed check in/out times but can usually be flexible depending on what we are doing and if anyone else is checking in/out, just ask!

Check In
  • Malia was a welcoming host, allowed us to check in early and provided us with helpful info about the neighborhood. Place was spacious for having just one bedroom and had lots of toys for our little ones. Was in walking distance to a few places and a short drive to everything else we wanted- Hawthorne Ave, Mt Tabor park. A great value.

  • My family and I had a great stay with Malia and her family in Portland. We're traveling with two small kids and the place is perfect for families.

The apartment had everything we could possibly need - including a bunch of stuff for babies - and Malia was very friendly and gladly gave us advise on places to go and stuff to see.

It's a quiet, residential area, but downtown Portland is only about 15 min away by car.

We would be happy to stay here again.

  • This apartment was the perfect place for us to stay. I was visiting Portland with a friend who also brought her two young children (ages 4 and 6). Malia and her family were friendly, helpful and and also kid friendly. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was safe and quiet.

There were a couple of parks in walking distance which were great for the kids and it was easy to get to the major roads to do some sightseeing. An added plus was that we were only a 5 - 10 minute drive to Trader Joe's so it was easy to stock up on healthy meals and snacks.

  • The apartament is exactly as described, clean and cozy. The bed is super comfortable and we literally had no problem at all, the kitchen was fully equipped and we had really nice dinners!
Also we could do our laundry which was a plus!
    Thank you Malia.

  • Exactly as pictured and described. Clean, neat and filled with useful resources for those visiting Portland. The location was quiet, but in close proximity to popular restaurants and other eateries. Malia was very helpful and anticipated our needs. She and her kids live upstairs, so you might hear their little feet running around during the day, but we were out most of the day and it was never a problem at night. Good collection of dvd's too!

  • Malia's place was awesome. It was well decorated and spotlessly clean. She was thoughtful enough to leave some treats in the fridge and even had toys and all the baby equipment we needed for our toddler. We really felt at home here and Malia was very friendly and super quick to answer any questions. She (email hidden) that she had written up about things in her area and in Portland, in general, which made life a lot easier. We would absolutely stay here again!

  • They were great! Very comfortable and spacious. We were able to have half of our meals there. Malia was extremely responsive. They stated in the ad that they have kids, but I didn't hear them until around 7 in the morning, so that worked fine for us. Parking was simple, and we were never more than 15 minutes from anything we needed to drive to.

  • I loved meeting Malia and her family! The basement apartment is very spacious. The location is awesome and it's a very quick drive to pretty much anywhere in Portland. The bed is super comfortable (moreso than my own).

Since Malia and her family live upstairs, you may hear footsteps throughout the day or morning. But at night, it was perfectly quiet which was all my husband and I needed. :) would definitely stay again!

  • Lovely stay at the Apartment and Malia was very helpful. Our daughter lives just a few blocks away and calling the Apartment "home base" was perfect for our stay. We'll be back after our grandbaby is born and will certainly rent this Apartment again. Plus our daughter is referring all future guests to the Apartment as well. : )

  • Great place (especially the books and art) and helpful people. We never actually met Malia, but she very promptly got back to us whenever we had any questions. We felt very at home and the bed was very comfy. Next time, we will bring our bikes so that we can jump up to The Woodsman Tavern or Shut Up And Eat easily and leave the car. :-)
