While at Serenity, Eddie will take you to explore his garden: see his marvel of a freshwater well, sample the chilli peppers and the sugarcane, enjoy the plentiful greens, examine the jackfruit and the avocado trees

Visit Kasubi or Wamala Tombs, go shopping in the shopping centres easily accessed along the Northern Bypass: Game, ShopRite, Garden City.
Matatus and Bodaboda in plenty on the main road only 150metres away.
Many eating places and churches in neighbouring Nansana just down the road. Ask Eddie, he will always have a solution!
At Serenity, we take the health and safety of our guests seriously. Firstly, although windows and beds have nets, please don't forget your anti-malarial measures. The kitchen has a fire blanket. We have surrounded the house by plants that are said to inhibit mosquitoes. If you notice anything that we have overlooked, please let us know about it - talk about it with Eddie.

Guest access

Guests have access to the whole house and compound. However, for security, Eddie has a room within the grounds attached to the garage which we use, and the compound is shared with the owners as we park within the perimeter wall.
Guests can also access, under supervision from Eddie the caretaker, the gardens outside the compound.

Interaction with guests

Eddie is at the house most days - though unobtrusively, to see that all is well and to open the gate if guests happen to return after 10pm. For security, please let Eddie know if you are coming home after 10pm.

Other things to note

Eddie the caretaker, has lived in Kampala since he was a child and has travelled widely throughout Uganda. He also knows the 'ins and outs' of a whole lot of things and is always willing to help you with any issues or queries. Check out what our reviewers have to say about Eddie!
One more thing - despite all our efforts, Uganda is still a third world country with third world issues; therefore we cannot promise to cater for every eventually and may have to ask for your patience and understanding sometimes!

House Rules
Check in time is flexible

Bills: Please note the quoted price does not include bills. These are water, electricity and gas. You will required to pay a bills deposit of £20 per week for the full duration of your stay. The meter readings will be taken at the start and end of your stay and usage calculated. There could be a refund or you could be asked to top up on your deposit to cover the bills. Prices for electricity are quite high in Uganda so please work with Eddie to keep an eye on the meter and usage.
Eddie, the caretaker, has been found to be one of the greatest assets of Serenity House. He can pick you up from the airport (for a small fee), and answer any questions about Kampala and Uganda: he knows both like the back of his hand. Feel free to ask him to show you shortcuts or to drive you in the car for a small charge.
There is a bountiful supply of fruit within the compound - all we ask is that you enjoy the fruits in the compound responsibly - mindful of other guests who might want to share in the bounty of Serenity.
There is access to the internet and the loan of a laptop for that use, if required.

Enjoy the soft manicured lawns, shady trees. Enjoy the fruit: mangoes, guavas, guanabana, passion fruit, pawpaws, oranges, as well as the herbs from the kitchen garden. Feed the gold fish or visit the fish ponds.

There is space for a party but please let Eddie know if you are planning a party of more than 15 external guests as there will be an extra charge.
Serenity House is also for those looking for peace and quiet and privacy. Have a barbeque or have a cold drink under the umbrellas.

We would highly recommend Serenity house, especially if you are travelling with family. It is HUGE and beautiful and peaceful and in a good location where people are friendly and you can get the basics and mobile money at the top of the road. Taxi's are easily hailed from the main road and it's under an hour to central Kampala. Philly was supportive and easy to communicate with on the build up to our departure and Eddie was on hand during our stay. Both are lovely people. The rooms in the house are spacious and the garden is gorgeous. Such a haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Serenity house really is a GEM!

Serenity House is a very friendly house. All provided information are completely true. It was a warm welcome from Eddie at the airport with good music in the car. Directly from the beginning we had a very good relationship with Eddie. He was very sympathetic, helpful and relaxed. The house was very clean, large and comfortable. Everything we needed was there. We felt very secure because of Mutee (the guard dog). We recommend this house to everybody who wants to experience real african life but also needs a european standard. Also a big advantage is the car, which can be rent for a small fee. Thank you very much for this good experience. Benno, Elke & Daniel

We had the most amazing three weeks in serenity house. The location was perfect for us, the hosts were so charming and accommodating and the house is beautiful and spacious and equipped with everything and more than we needed. The area felt very safe and we managed to get everything we needed in nansana supermarket rather than heading in to the city. We were lucky enough to be there while Philly was staying there and she is as lovely in the flesh as she was over email prior to us going. She responded very promptly to every question I had before hand (and there were many!) basically, can't say enough great things about serenity house and Philly, Eddie, Noor, Tasha and Mama Tasha. Thank you all for a very memorable trip, we will be back! xx

Thank you so much for your kind feedback! And for loving the people of Uganda so much that you were willing to bring the 'little lady' with you. And thanks for participating in the village life and being a member of the community. Best of luck with your projects and come again!

Hi, I live in London and I work for Waltham Forest College. I am originally from Uganda and Serenity House is my dream home but I cannot remain there on holiday forever! The next best thing is to get others to enjoy it!
