About This Listing
Our beautiful stand alone vintage cottage has wonderful views, furnishing, and art. The cottage was featured in April of 2005 (with it's owners of Heath Ceramics in Elle Decor - UK). Heath Ceramics is a historic local pottery located one mile from the cottage. We have a great location for walking to the docks, or to town while being on a quiet residential street (though don't be surprised to hear the barking seals in the spring!).
The cottage is about 700 square feet with a very functional floor plan. It has one bedroom (with a queen bed), a living/dining area with a fireplace and beautiful views. (There is a new pull out couch for extra sleeping space, as well as a classic Saarinen womb chair, perfect for curling up in with a good book). There is well equipped small kitchen with full sized appliances and lots of Heath Ceramics, as well as a laundry room. The vintage style bathroom has been carefully renovated to retain it's original design and character. We also provide storage for bikes and luggage available in the garage.
Out the front door the patio/outdoor is landscaped with beautiful plants and a pond it has a small table for two, for eating or just watching the boats go by on the bay.
We live in the main home on the property, a separate building, and have a large dog. We welcome pets in the cottage, though there is not a fenced in area with the cottage that is appropriate for pets to roam.
We're located in a great area of Sausalito, we're a short walk from Caledonia street, which is the local's part of town with some fantastic food, a movie theater, shops and a lovely library. An even closer walk brings you to a sandy beach on the bay, where you can rent a kayak, paddleboard, or just enjoy the weather and water. The ferry dock in Sausalito and tourist area are about a mile walk or drive from the cottage.
There is plenty of street parking usually right in front of our property.
Kathy and Robin were really helpful in setting up the booking and moving in as well as being flexible when timings changed. The cottage was idyllic and well furnished with some very interesting pieces...we certainly got very used to using Heath Ceramics for all our meals! The setting was great and it was good to be in the locals part of Sausalito, with easy access to the splendors of Marin and Mt Tam. You also get to travel to SF on the ferry, one of those iconic travel experiences. We would highly commend it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat close to SF
Cathy was great to work with throughout the process and made sure we got in without an issue. Great little cottage. We stayed 8 nights and it never seemed "small" for the two of us. It was a great gateway to both Marin and Wine Country, and SF.
Charming little cottage with a magnifient view. A "green & organic" touch to the interiors adds to the charm. Help from the hosts was always at hand and lttle details had been taken care of. Enjoyed our time here.
This cottage is in a great location - really nice views from the large lounge room, and a nice little outside area as well. 5 minute walk from the water. Very nicely furnished and decorated, with everything you could ask for made available.
A lovely host, an impeccably designed place and a magical setting in the hills of Sausalito. The cottage exceeded expectations and was truly a wonderful experience! We slept gloriously in the comfy bed, cooked in the cute kitchen and loved the spectacular views. I also highly recommend a stop into the Heath ceramics store if you get a chance.
This cottage is exquisitely appointed and the views are stunning. Close enough to walk everywhere in Sausalito. Perfect!
