Interaction with Guests
We live 1 mile away so we are here to help as needed.
Nice quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Great place to walk around.
Yes, the Heleon bus comes by in front of the subdivision 3x/day. They charge $1 to go to Hilo and another $1 to go to Kona.
We value cleanliness
Nice clean facilities close to the beach. Check the map first as its a little out of the way & not in Pahoa town, so you need to bring all your food/drinks with you.
Yes, just to clarify that all the beautiful coastal areas including Kehena Beach, use the Pahoa zip code as it is the closest town. We are not in the town of Pahoa. There are 'no' oceanfront properties there.
Kehena Beach is the place you want to come to for oceanfront properties and beautiful coastal views.
In addition, there actually is a café, market w/ ATM, Uncles outdoor Ti-Ki Bar and farmers market, and a great buffet close by - right on our street which open at 7am.
A nice rental on the quiet, out of the way part of the island. No AC but we were always comfortable. The area has many interesting places to visit.
I really enjoyed my stay at Andre and Susan's studio! They provided excellent directions and Andre met me at the studio with a map of the area and recommendations for places to visit. The studio was clean and private with a gorgeous view of the surrounding neighborhood and area from the second story deck. Perfect base for exploring the amazing beaches and tide pools nearby. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!
The description is quite accurate; nice neighborhood. One can see sunrise from bed.
Host was not too welcoming when I arrived. Only said "keys are on the table" and drove off.
When I asked about the wifi that wasn't working (because of a storm), someone came over immediately and took care of it.
Love the location and the house is clean... Always have very good communication with Susan.. Will come back 2015..
The location is very out of the way and about 10 miles or so south of Pahoa downtown, accessible through a long one-lane stretch of road along the coast with cooled lava all around. There is no cell service for AT&T at the location so I used the wifi in the studio when I needed to contact people (website hidden)messenger and FaceTime Audio/Video; no texting/calling).
The edge of the neighborhood has a beautiful overlook on the beach where you can watch the waves crash against the cliff face with various black sand beaches around. The street and neighborhood is quiet with no streetlights. I'm not sure what it was but during the one night I stayed, there was a strange beeping sound that seemed mechanical almost like an echo-locator.
The room itself was pretty clean, if not slightly musty, when I got there and the kitchenette is stocked with cooking tools. I didn't use these since I only stayed one night but it would be useful for someone staying longer. Andre met me and explained what I needed about the studio. He also gave me a useful map with locations marked on where I could find places such as the volcano park and lava flows. Overall, Andre was a pretty good host and easy to work with despite my last-minute request to stay over.
