About This Listing
This is a simple and cozy room that makes the most out of every space. We are a 3 minute walk to a beautiful beach, and walking to grocery stores/restaurants/bars. The room has a queen bed, refrigerator, micro, wetbath (RV style), safe, WiFi + more
This is the El Coqui unit (previously called El Mango), one of several units available at Coqui Del Mar Guesthouse. This is our economy unit, queen bed, small bathroom (with toilet and shower sharing the same space, like an RV or Yacht), refrigerator and microwave. We have other larger units with full kitchens. All of our units are in the same private building in Ocean Park, very close to Isla Verde. All units are private units with private entrances and each has its own private bathroom(s), free WiFi, AirConditioning, in room safes, and Cable TV. Other larger units have Ipod Docks and full kitchens (this unit offers a refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine), and some units offer steam showers, Apple computers or double showers. Washer and dryer are located on the property and free usage can be coordinated through the on site managers. Other amenities that are free and can be checked out our bicycles, boogie boards, and other beach items, such as coolers and chairs. We are constantly updating and improving. We also love guests suggestions and feedback. Our location is literally 3 minutes walking to the nearest beach. We are a $15 taxi from SJU international airport, and there are buses that go to Old San Juan 2 blocks from our location. Yet you will reside in a friendly neighborhood setting and get a taste of real Puerto Rico, as opposed to spending more and staying in a hotel. One of the beautiful things of our property as well is the on site management. You will not find this kind of help at many of the apartments listed on this site. Our on site management call this their home and know the neighborhood, restaurants, and travel tips to make your trip the most enjoyable. You can read our reviews on tripadvisor, and hopefully we will have more reviews here as well soon. Thank you!

Welcome to a our San Juan Puerto Rico Guesthouse in a beautiful beach side neighborhood, tucked away within a safe and semi-gated community in a convenient location 3 minutes walk to the famous Ocean Park beach, and 10 minutes to Isla Verde or Ocean Park neighborhoods. You are within a 30 minute walk (or take our bikes) to the more tourist area of Condado. We are about 10 minutes drive to the SJU airport and 20 minutes drive to Old San Juan. There are local buses within 2 blocks that go to both the Convention Center and Old San Juan (though buses here do not run on schedule).
Within 15 minutes walk there are several unique cafes, local restaurants, spas and boutiques, shops, kite surfing rentals, paddle board rentals, pharmacies, grocery stores, convenience stores, etc... We at Coqui del Mar have created a map of our favorite places for you to discover.
You will experience more of a local taste to Puerto Rico staying with us, while still being within easy distance to the more popular tourist areas of Isla Verde and Condado, or Old San Juan.
Walking is a great option if you plan to simply see the beaches and you will have your choice of many local and unique restaurants, a grocery store, and shopping all within a 15 minute walk. Local bus lines T-53 and T-5 are both within 5 minutes walk (one stop is just in front of the beach which makes a nice waiting spot). There are also free buses that also visit the park just near our house. The buses all go to Old San Juan, the convention center, Condado, or Isla Verde. We also provide free bicycles with locks, another great way to get around. Lastly, there is free parking on our street. A rental car is recommended if you plan to travel outside of the San Juan area (i.e. the rain forest), or if you plan to travel frequently at night (bus service stops at 9PM though Taxis are easily available via phone call). A car can easily be rented for the days that you need one. (We recommend the local company, Charlie's Car Rentals, which offers free pick up or drop off service at our location.

CHECK IN/CHECK OUT: Our check in time is any time after 3pm. Check out time is anytime before 11am. This provides us the necessary time to thoroughly clean the unit and prepare for our next guests. However, if you arrive before or need to stay a bit longer, we can ALWAYS at least store your luggages for you. If the apartment is available, we will provide it, no charge, for your early check in or late check out (you must check the day of with our on site manager, Noyda, to confirm availability). As we have self check in with codes, you are free to arrive on your late flight and check in at your leisure, or take that early morning departure without disturbing anyone.
QUIET HOURS: As this is a guesthouse and you typically will be sharing the property with other guests, we do have quiet hours from 11pm to 9am daily. (If you rent all 6 apartments then you can set the quiet hours)
LAUNDRY: We have laundry machines that our housecleaning staff uses. Our guests are welcome to use these (and our detergents) for your own laundry but you must coordinate the time to use this via our on site manager (usually after 5pm).
OUTDOOR SHOWER: We ask all our guests to use this to get rid of the beach sand outside (instead of tracking it into your house).
BROKEN ITEMS: A guesthouse takes constant maintenance and many times, you are the first to discover a burnt out bulb, a loose hinge, or maybe an accidental breaking of a plate etc...Just let Noyda know so she can take care o this.
SHARING: Please feel free to share your unused sunscreen, bug spray, toothpastes, shampoos or whatever else you would like to leave behind. If it can be shared with other guests, we will. We have built up a collection of guidebooks and reading novels...Feel free to use these and add to the collection.
BIKES/BOOGIE BOARDS: We have several bicycles and boogie boards. These are provided on a first come first serve basis and can be reserved maximum one night before (just let Noyda know).
WATER: Please do your best to conserve water during your stay. You can make a big difference by hanging your bath towels. If our cleaning staff find these on the floor, we will know to replace them. By hanging them, you will be able to reuse them and reduce the laundry load/detergents.
ELECTRICAL: Pleas do your best to conserve this by shutting off your AC and lights when you leave the apartment. We have already taken numerous steps to make our guesthouse Eco Friendly, but we need our guests cooperation to truly make a difference.
Coqui del Mar was absolutely perfect! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and had an excellent stay! Noyda went above and beyond and answered any question we had regarding dining and entertainment! We used the bikes and went all over Isla Verde. When in doubt Noyda will give you excellent directions to find things. We will be back and will stay here again! Ideal location!
When I come to San Juan for business I often like to just relax outside of San Juan and Coqui Del Mar is perfect for a night or two. Rob and his staff are always attentive to my needs, regardless of how long I am staying. I always appreciate their willingness to make my experience feel like a vacation, regardless of the reason for my being in PR. Looking forward to my return!
Our stay in San Juan with Robert at El Coqui Inn was wonderful. Not only were we just a block away from the beach and within walking distance of restaurants and stores, but Noyda was extremely helpful and always happy to point us in the right direction. Our room had everything we needed, including a small kitchen to use during our stay. We definitely recommend staying at El Coqui Inn!
The studio apartment is nice and has a great small kitchen. The hostel environment and meeting all kinds of people was amazing! The only thing I would say is if you and your significant other aren't close you will be after. The European style bath and toilet combo is very unique. I would stay here again.
We had a great stay! Estee is very kind, very helpful and has a lot of great recommendations. The apartment is cozy and tiny. Don't take too much stuff with you! You only need swim suits, sun glasses, sunscreen and insect repellent.
The kitchen is great, fully equipped. I can definitely recommend to stay here. Hope to come back soon!
Estée was always very helpful and accommodating. We left our laundry in the machine one day and while we were out she folded out she dried and folded out laundry which was a really sweet surprise to come "home" to. She really made us feel comfortable and gave us great suggestions for things to do. The man (I forgot his name) that came on the weekend was so generous and helpful to us by giving us a ride to the port where we left on a cruise. He also was extremely accommodating and stopped at a store for us on the way to the port. We are so grateful to both of them.
Coqui del Mar is a very nice guest house and it was much closer to the beach than I thought, which was great.
The staff is extremely friendly and the area is nice and clean with lots of great restaurants and a quick bus connection to get to Old San Juan.
Thank you for your review Nicole and glad you enjoyed. We are fortunate to have great staff and a great location close to the beach. I apologize for the jacuzzi. We have since drained and refilled it. Our on site manager had been flown to a hospital in Orlando and our normal maintenance fell a bit behind. We hope to host you again! Sincerely, Rob, owner, Coqui del Mar Guest House

About the Host, Robert
Saludos, Bonjour, Hello! I am from California, and spent many years in the Coast Guard. I have been living in Europe the last few years (currently in Paris, France). I recently completed a 9 month cooking school through Le Cordon Bleu, so if you are renting my spare room in Paris, I'd love to provide breakfast (unless I'm traveling...but there are so many local options anyways). I love exploring Paris, Europe, and I guess travel in general, and I've found AirBnB a great way to do it. I've found a great, very open and fairly spacious (for Paris standards) apartment (after one year of searching) that I rent either as a 1 bedroom (when I am here) or 2 bedroom private apartment (when I am traveling).
If you are looking at the Puerto Rico properties on my listing, it's basically a guest house (currently #1 on TripAdvisor) and there are on site managers that will not leave you feeling like you are abandoned on the island. They call Coqui del Mar home and will be happy to help you with recommendations, travel tips, or anything to make your stay more memorable. There are 6 rentable units within the same property. If you have any questions prior to booking either Puerto Rico or Paris, please let me know. Thank you!
Sincerely, Rob - owner, Coqui Del Mar guest house
