One of the New York City’s liveliest and trendiest neighborhoods, the Lower East Side offers countless restaurants, shops, bars, nightclubs, art galleries and performance venues for you to enjoy. (Pianos, Spitzer's, Schiller's, Beauty and Essex, Arlene's Grocery, The Box and GalleryBar are just a few nightlife examples). The neighborhood is dynamic, safe and has a lot to offer historically - in the past it served as home to so many of the city's immigrants that it even has its own museum (The Tenement Museum).
Staying in the Lower East Side is easy, with food, other supplies and laundry readily available and close by. There is a laundromat less than one block from the apartment where you can wash or have your clothing washed, and a grocery store in the building next door. The subway (about a minute's walk from the apartment) offers easy transportation all over the city, though it's also possible to walk to many of the city's sites if you enjoy walking.
When you are ready to explore further, you can check out other stylish neighborhoods nearby, including SOHO, Greenwich Village, the East Village, NOHO and more.

The apartment is about 1 minute by foot to the F, M, J and Z subway lines, also 1 minute by foot to the East Village, and 10-15 minutes by foot to SOHO, Greenwich Village, Nolita, Little Italy and Chinatown. Buses and cabs are also readily available nearby.

Hey, I’m Tim - a New Yorker with who's lived also in San Francisco, New Orleans and a number of places outside the US as well (from Africa to Europe). I've been hosting for about 2 years now, and it's been a fantastic time! I've met some very cool and interesting people, had some great discussions, and enjoyed helping my guests experience what NYC has to offer. I'm in my 30's, gay, a grad student who travels a lot.
I try to create a comfortable space that visitors can enjoy while they explore the city - and I'm always happy to give advice or do what I can to make their visit a better experience. Of course I know that you're here on your vacation, so I make sure to be respectful of your relaxation time and privacy as well.
