Description

The space

** To book, please send me a message (inquiry) and tell me a little bit about yourself and your arrival/departure. I'm also happy to answer any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you! Best, Tim **

Situated in a recently-renovated two-bedroom apartment (shared with me), your private room is furnished with brand-new amenities, including a desk, ultra-comfortable queen-size memory foam mattress, soft towels and a 26" flat screen TV with Netflix. A renovated bathroom is shared with me.

Your room has a south-facing window with lots of light and a blackout shade. It overlooks a lively corner, which can sometimes be a little noisy (mostly on the weekends). I am happy to provide earplugs for your comfort.

You will have access to the roof and its fantastic view of the Freedom Tower, the Chrysler Building and more. The room has its own air conditioning during the summer and its own heater during winter.

Guest access

My goal is for you to feel at home while you stay with me. Guests have access to the living room, clean bathroom, the kitchen and everything else. Please make yourselves at home and enjoy!

Interaction with guests

I am comfortable with any level of interaction. I enjoy meeting and interacting with my guests. I am happy to chat, give advice and offer suggestions on what to do in the city or really anything else.

Of course, I know that this is your vacation, and I am also happy to give you the privacy you need to enjoy it. I find that my interaction with guests tends to work itself out naturally.

The neighborhood

One of the New York City’s liveliest and trendiest neighborhoods, the Lower East Side offers countless restaurants, shops, bars, nightclubs, art galleries and performance venues for you to enjoy. (Pianos, Spitzer's, Schiller's, Beauty and Essex, Arlene's Grocery, The Box and GalleryBar are just a few nightlife examples). The neighborhood is dynamic, safe and has a lot to offer historically - in the past it served as home to so many of the city's immigrants that it even has its own museum (The Tenement Museum).

Staying in the Lower East Side is easy, with food, other supplies and laundry readily available and close by. There is a laundromat less than one block from the apartment where you can wash or have your clothing washed, and a grocery store in the building next door. The subway (about a minute's walk from the apartment) offers easy transportation all over the city, though it's also possible to walk to many of the city's sites if you enjoy walking.

When you are ready to explore further, you can check out other stylish neighborhoods nearby, including SOHO, Greenwich Village, the East Village, NOHO and more.

Getting around

Public transportation here is excellent, offering quick access to most parts of NYC. The apartment is about 1 minute by foot to the F, M, J and Z subway lines, also 1 minute by foot to the East Village, and 10-15 minutes by foot to SOHO, Greenwich Village, Nolita, Little Italy and Chinatown. Buses and cabs are also readily available nearby.

Transportation from JFK Airport

Coming from JFK airport takes 30-50 minutes by cab (about 60$) and about an hour and 10 minutes via Subway (about $8.00 per person). For the subway simply take the Airtrain to Jamaica Station, then transfer to the J Train and take it to Essex street station. The apartment is 2 blocks away (a 1-2 minute walk).

Transportation from Newark Airport

Newark Airport has an Airtrain that will take you to a New Jersey Transit Train Station. From there you can take the train to New York Penn Station (don’t get off at New Jersey Penn station). Then you can take a $15 cab ride or $2.75 subway ride to the apartment. For the subway just walk east 2 blocks east to Harold Square and take the F train to Delancey Street. The apartment is is 2 blocks away (a 1-2 minute walk).

Other things to note

Your room comes with a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, a full-length mirror and ultra-fast wifi - any other accommodations you need please let me know!

Great stay! The place was clean and comfortable. Tim was a fantastic host (had an awesome conversation). Super easy to get to by subway and the proximity to the city makes it quick and painless to pop in and out.

Tims place was very clean and smelled amazing throughout our stay. His place was a little confusing to get to at first but we figured it out with a little communication. He was very attentive upon arrival helping with luggage and such. He was an awesome host!

First of all, Tim is a great host very helpful and underatanding. Loved the little apt and the scent he had going on. Very comfy and made me feel at home. The night life is LIT there. Too bad I had my 7yrs old with me. Noise did not bother us, we slept like baby's. Will be my number one choice when I go back with friends.

Tim's place is located in a convenient spot; great for people that are unfamiliar with NYC. Navigating the subway was simple from his apartment. It is very clean and the bed is very comfortable. Tim is an exceptional host, available to help with anything you need. He is friendly and makes you feel at home right away. Would definitely stay here again if I return to NYC!

Tim is a true gentleman! Greeted me on the staircase, helped me with my bags, made sure I was comfortable in the room with plenty of linens and bedding. Great attention to detail. I was completely happy in this clean welcoming space and loved the location. For anyone who wants to be in the epicenter of the super hip area of New York City, look no further! The Lower East Side is where it's at and Tim's place couldn't provide a better home base. Not only are you within walking distances of Little Italy, SoHo, and Chinatown, you can hop on the fabulous F Train 1 block away to get anywhere Uptown (West or East Side). I will definitely be coming back IF he has availablility. Don't hesitate! Jump on Tim's place immediately. You won't be disappointed! Five Star all the way!

Tim is a very good host and did everything to make us feel at home! There is a lot going on in the neighborhood, lots of restaurants, bars and things to explore! Communication with Tim was excellent, he took his time to explain stuff, bar/restaurant tips ect. A little noisy on weekends, but otherwise a great lower east side experience!

Hey, I’m Tim - a New Yorker with who's lived also in San Francisco, New Orleans and a number of places outside the US as well (from Africa to Europe). I've been hosting for about 2 years now, and it's been a fantastic time! I've met some very cool and interesting people, had some great discussions, and enjoyed helping my guests experience what NYC has to offer. I'm in my 30's, gay, a grad student who travels a lot.

I try to create a comfortable space that visitors can enjoy while they explore the city - and I'm always happy to give advice or do what I can to make their visit a better experience. Of course I know that you're here on your vacation, so I make sure to be respectful of your relaxation time and privacy as well.

If you have questions or would like to book, please send me an inquiry with your dates. Also please tell me a little bit about yourself. I look forward to hearing from you! Oh je parle francais, y hablo espanol tambien. Best, Tim
