About this listing
Please read all of the details before you come expecting something else and then write about it in a review as if you'd been dooped.
I now have a washer/dryer! And a projector!
This room is private! No one walks through your room and you don't have to walk through anyone's room. You even get your own darn living room! If you're not familiar, New Orleans is full of what's called shotgun houses, and also railroad houses. This means that you can be standing in the front door, shoot a shotgun, and it'd go right out the back door, at least in the old days.
The room comes with a nightstand, double bed, desk, lamp, mirror, shelves, clean towels, and clean sheets. Blowup mattress is available upon request.
A little about myself...I am a distiller in the process of starting a distillery/brewery. I also make perfumes and flower waters. In general I like fermenting things and extracting things from things.
The house has one kitchen, one bathroom, a cozy backyard, guesthouse, and a good few living growing flowers, herbs, and fruit trees. Feel free to cook whatever and whenever. If you have a pet that's not a problem. I drink, and smoke, but outside of the house. There won't be tons of people partying at the house, really ever, but occasionally I do have small crawfish/shrimp boils.
Note: the kitchen and bathroom are shared!
Aside from that, I know damn near everything there is to know about this town, so count on me to be an excellent face to face tour guide if need be. Our neighborhood boasts some of New Orleans greatest restaurants and bars.
This listing is best for 20 or 30 somethings looking to come to NOLA on vacation (who don't have tons of $), but clean and calm enough to make any business trip a comfortable one.
If you've never been here before you should know that the Bywater is a historic neighborhood (at one time the biggest port in America) very close to the french quarter. You can easily bike or walk to the french quarter without having to fear for your life. It's 15 blocks to the FQ.
I no longer have bikes for rent. Too many got stolen. There is a bike shop 1 block away though that has bikes for $15 a day. The cheapest in town.
If you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs. There is no schedule for train work in the nearby yard. They work at random. Chances are you'll be disturbed at some point. I'm just used to it.
This neighborhood is safe. Anyone who has said this neighborhood is not safe in my reviews is racist. Nothing happened to them, but somehow it's not safe. This is the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans aside from the French quarter. It was originally a German and black blue collar neighborhood. These folks are still around along with all of the new transplants. Once in a while people get jumped, it happens in every neighborhood in New Orleans. This is a major city, take a note. It is not the wild west though, people round here are quite friendly.
Note that the price you see may not be the price per night for the days you're wanting to book. Holidays and special events cost more per night for example. The price shown is what the listing starts at per night for one person.
Interaction with Guests
I am a very busy person but I will gladly make time to guide you towards restaurants, bars, and events that may be to your liking.
There is a bus stop a half block away that goes straight to the quarter and canal st.
Clean up after yourself. Please reimburse me for anything that you break.
I am originally from a small town in Indiana but now love and am proud to call New Orleans home. My life at this point is basically distilling, brewing, billiards, botany, and travel. I have a 40,000 sq. ft. warehouse where I am currently building and raising money for a distillery/brewery/perfumery/farm.
