The Space

Thanks for checking out "The Dandelion"!
your stay includes delicious breakfasts prepared by a previous B&B Innkeeper/Chef/Baker/Food Stylist (Taryn)

Clean linens and towels will be in your private suite as well as fresh flowers and homemade cookies. (fresh baked daily of course!)

The bathroom has many drawers for storing your items for easy access. Also there are suitcase racks in the suite to rest your bags on and an empty closet as well stocked with wooden hangers so no need to bring your own.

There is a cabinet in the bathroom with a green glass handle that has several lotions, sunscreen, shampoo, etc for you to use if needed.

My location is in the Historic Evergreen district in Midtown and is five minutes from downtown Memphis and within walking distance to The Levitt Shell, Overton Park , Brooks Art Museum the Cooper- Young area and Overton Square.

This is a great area! Especially in the Spring/Fall/Summer months. Overton Park is so green and lush most of the time.
Some of the best concerts are at the Levitt Shell in the park and most of them are free! (ask me about this during check-in) I offer folding chairs if it's a concert season. I have seen North Missisippi Allstars there, Norah Jones, Mavis Staples, Todd Snider, and more. This is truly a magical venue! I hope concerts will be available during your stay. I can recommend other music venues as well. Anything from hipster hangs, dive-bars or juke joints. Of course weekends will offer a much better selection. There are other walkable music venues such as The Hi-Tone and Stonewall Hall nearby and some local eateries, a great gift shop and also a yoga center.

breakfast-
If you're vegan just give advance notice so almond or walnut milk can be made prior to your stay or if you would rather just have fresh vegetable juice or smoothies made in the vitamix. Typically my breakfasts are on the decadent side. Most people splurge while on holiday but they can also be on the healthier side if need be.
Feel free to stretch out, put your feet up, grab a book, wrap up with a warm throw in the living room or library. It makes me happy to see my guests feeling comfy here. That's what makes airbnb stand out from hotels right? If there are no other guests staying downstairs, the flat screen tv with internet and Netflix is available in the den at the end of the hall. (though this room is super casual, there may even be a vacuum cleaner in the corner, seriously very comfy though)

driving-
There is a navigation system that you can use during your stay to make it easier for you to get to your destinations.
Getting lost is a bummer, so feel free to hook it up
on your daily adventures.

Having been in the hospitality industry for several years I sort of know when to be available or to let people people be on their own program.

laundry- don't be shy about asking where the washer and dryer are. They are quick and efficient and there is always detergent as well.

Send a message if you have any questions or concerns.
Hope to see you in Memphis!! ^@^

Oops. forgot to mention, if you're without wheels you can take "Memphis Hop". While the trolley is great, it's limited to where it will take you. This service takes you to all major attractions and gives you discounts at Stax, Graceland, etc. kind of a win-win. You can access "hop-on" just down the street at Overton Park.

  • Beautiful and very cozy place! The house smelled like fresh cookies which she serves to you when you arrive. YUM! Taryn was very accommodating and had great suggestions for getting around. She served a very tasty breakfast, so make sure you sign up for that. We would highly recommend her place to anyone that is traveling to Memphis. Her home was truly our home for the 2 nights we were there. Thanks for everything, Taryn! The Iowa Travelers

  • After several hours of driving, I arrived at Taryn's inviting, warm house. I felt as if I were visiting a friend I had known for years. She had candles lit, and offered me homemade Thai soup for dinner. She also invited me to watch a movie, the ever so artistic Triplets of Belleville, and popped fresh popcorn for us. The night was gray and cold and I couldn't have been happier to accept that invitation. The room was spotless, comfortable & beautifully decorated and a midnight snack was left on the desk-one of Taryn's freshly baked cookies & a huge chunk of Swiss chocolate. We had great conversation and the next morning I was off to Mississippi, after a stop at Gus's fried chicken, a recommendation of my gracious host. I'll be back. Thanks Taryn, for making me feel so welcome! And thanks for the freshly squeezed grapefruit juice:).

  • We stayed here a second time on our way back from NOLA. It is a perfect place relax when on the road.

  • Taryn is an excellent host, cook, decorator and tour guide. Her breakfasts were lovely and her cookies delicious. I look for a comfortable bed in a quiet, safe neighborhood when I travel and this is it. Taryn's place is close to everything (we had a car, but I imagine cab rides wouldn't be too bad) and has great southern charm to boot. We booked the Dandelion Package and got the full treatment. I suggest you do the same. Her breakfasts are incredible and healthy. I am going to jog down when I'm in STL next for the fun of it, just because she is so great.

  • My short stay of 3 days with Taryn was fabulous. The room was comfortable, there's great breakfast in the morning, she gave me some good advise on where to go with my limited schedule, and some take home cookies that she made which was wonderful. I truly liked my first experience with air B&B, this is much local, rich and with personal touch compared to lonely hotel room. Taryn was a great host who made all these happened, so highly recommend the next visitor to check it out! And don't forget to ask her about soul music, you will be surprised how much she knows about it and how deep she loves it!

  • Truly exceptional. Taryn went the extra mile and a half when it really mattered and I am forever grateful.

You would be crazy not to stay here! It is a one-of-a-kind experience.

  • We had the most wonderful stay with Taryn in Memphis. I 100% recommend that you stay with her! We really didn't want to leave her when it was time to go. Out of this world breakfasts, homemade cookies in our room, and Taryn's lovely, bubbly personality = winning combination! I only hope I can go back again one day.

  • Taryn is an excellent hostess. Her charming home is well located and she is a fantastic cook. Her breakfasts were outstanding!
She is a wealth of musical knowledge for the area, as well as Nashville. We very much enjoyed staying with her.

  • I stayed at the Dandelion in mid-October 2013. This was a great place to use as a home base to explore Memphis - easy to get to and from the interstate and the airport. Located close to the Zoo and easy access to down town and other interesting neighbourhoods. Taryn was a gracious and knowledgeable hostess, with lots of helpful information about things to do. Also she is an amazing cook.

About
I managed a few B&B's for several years before coming to Memphis and thought it would be fun to have my own! Though not exactly the same, there are many perks that are similar. I have a tiny cookie business that keeps me pretty busy and I seem to host almost everyday (lucky) :) Also I'm a session vocalist. But don't worry, I promise not to break out in song while you're here or try to promote my latest music endeavor. My work as a food stylist and catering business owner has served me well over the last few years. It also helps me recommend the best restaurants in not only Memphis but Nashville as well. My diet pretty much consists of organic green juices and cookie dough......yep. it's true!
