About this listing
Mmm... breakfast. Bowls of sweet, ripe berries , fluffy buttermilk biscuits and freshly squeezed citrus, thick country bacon, warm maple syrup, buttery pancakes or nutty french toast :) Please read entire listing.
Your own private hideaway. Your room is the only one on the second floor. Great for peace and privacy.
Thanks for checking out "The Dandelion"!
your stay includes delicious breakfasts prepared by a previous B&B Innkeeper/Chef/Baker/Food Stylist (Taryn)
Clean linens and towels will be in your private suite as well as fresh flowers and homemade cookies. (fresh baked daily of course!)
The bathroom has many drawers for storing your items for easy access. Also there are suitcase racks in the suite to rest your bags on and an empty closet as well stocked with wooden hangers so no need to bring your own.
There is a cabinet in the bathroom with a green glass handle that has several lotions, sunscreen, shampoo, etc for you to use if needed.
My location is in the Historic Evergreen district in Midtown and is five minutes from downtown Memphis and within walking distance to The Levitt Shell, Overton Park , Brooks Art Museum the Cooper- Young area and Overton Square.
This is a great area! Especially in the Spring/Fall/Summer months. Overton Park is so green and lush most of the time.
Some of the best concerts are at the Levitt Shell in the park and most of them are free! (ask me about this during check-in) I offer folding chairs if it's a concert season. I have seen North Missisippi Allstars there, Norah Jones, Mavis Staples, Todd Snider, and more. This is truly a magical venue! I hope concerts will be available during your stay. I can recommend other music venues as well. Anything from hipster hangs, dive-bars or juke joints. Of course weekends will offer a much better selection. There are other walkable music venues such as The Hi-Tone and Stonewall Hall nearby and some local eateries, a great gift shop and also a yoga center.
If you're vegan just give advance notice so almond or walnut milk can be made prior to your stay or if you would rather just have fresh vegetable juice or smoothies made in the vitamix. Typically my breakfasts are on the decadent side. Most people splurge while on holiday but they can also be on the healthier side if need be.
Feel free to stretch out, put your feet up, grab a book, wrap up with a warm throw in the living room or library. It makes me happy to see my guests feeling comfy here. That's what makes airbnb stand out from hotels right? If there are no other guests staying downstairs, the flat screen tv with internet and Netflix is available in the den at the end of the hall. (though this room is super casual, there may even be a vacuum cleaner in the corner, seriously very comfy though)
There is a navigation system that you can use during your stay to make it easier for you to get to your destinations.
Getting lost is a bummer, so feel free to hook it up
on your daily adventures.
Having been in the hospitality industry for several years I sort of know when to be available or to let people people be on their own program.
laundry- don't be shy about asking where the washer and dryer are. They are quick and efficient and there is always detergent as well.
Send a message if you have any questions or concerns.
Hope to see you in Memphis!! ^@^
Oops. forgot to mention, if you're without wheels you can take "Memphis Hop". While the trolley is great, it's limited to where it will take you. This service takes you to all major attractions and gives you discounts at Stax, Graceland, etc. kind of a win-win. You can access "hop-on" just down the street at Overton Park.
No candles upstairs and smoking only allowed on the screened porch in the front.
No ink pens in the bed.
Taryn is great: a very welcoming host, a warm and creative person, a very good cook (great breakfast!), giving tips about restaurants, concerts, music, places to go, making reservations,... not only for Memphis, but also for our next stop in Nashville! She texted us several tips during the day, while we were visiting Memphis! However, she noticed immedialtely when we were a bit tired (after a long day in Memphis) or wanted some privacy, she was not intrusive at all. The house and room is perfect, very beautifully decorated, full bathroom, safe neighbourhood. If you're looking for a place near or in Memphis, don't look further: stay at Taryn's place! Thanks Taryn, we had a great time in Memphis!
Taryn made us feel absolutely at home. She's got some great recommendations about the city, and she cooks a mean breakfast. Would absolutely recommend to anyone staying in the area. Her home is amazing, and so is she.
Taryn was great! Full of fun recommendations and very accommodating to our shifting travel schedule. Would love to stay with her again -- her breakfast was amazing :)
If you're coming through Memphis you HAVE to stay here and then stay an extra day. Taryn was awesome. She knows Memphis, music, antiques, baking, cooking, and has a million ideas. I can't even begin to scrape the surface on how good our breakfast was but I can say that I hung out in her kitchen for two hours after talking to her! It was like seeing an old friend again. Our room was so beautiful (the Pebody should take a few tips from her) and beyond comfortable. This woman takes pride in her town and her community and she's the kind of person who will drive you around herself to be sure that you get the best out of memphis. We will come back to Memphis JUST to stay here again. The house has personality, class, and most of all Taryn's pressence which is a deal-breaker.
This place is great. Picturesque neighbourhood, walking distance to Overton Park, and the home itself is lovely. Lots of nice little extra details like stamps for postcards, cookies, and other treats in the rooms. And Taryn herself is a delightful host who is the boss supreme of all things breakfast, and isn't afraid to strongarm Graceland on behalf of her guests if need be.
Taryn's delightful home provided us with a great base for our stay. We were given a warm despite arriving early. Taryn was an excellent host and an accomplished cook; her freshly prepared breakfasts being a highlight.
The accommodation met our needs and expectations from the descriptions provided . The house is situated in a quiet, clean and safe area, just a short taxi ride to downtown.
Taryn provided us with several suggestions as to where to visit and
eat and made us feel very welcome in her home.
Taryn was a wonderful host! Staying at The Dandelion was everything we hoped for and more. We're grateful to Taryn for being so forthcoming with recommendations of places we could visit. Our bedroom was immaculate - clean with homely touches; water and oranges on the bedside table, handmade soaps and homebaked cookies! We felt relaxed and looked after during our stay. Taryn also made us delicious breakfasts from scratch each morning, she is a very talented cook and I am in awe of her skills! Whilst staying at The Dandelion we enjoyed a walk round nearby Overton Park, seeing a band perform in the Levitt Shell, watching the Memphis Redbirds play baseball and visiting Stax & Sun Studios and the Civil Rights Museum.

About the Host, Taryn
I managed a few B&B's for several years before coming to Memphis and thought it would be fun to have my own. Though not exactly the same, there are many perks that are similar. I have a small cookie business/hobby that keeps me pretty busy and I seem to host almost every day. Also I'm a session vocalist. But don't worry, I promise not to break out in song while you're here . My work as a food stylist and catering business owner has served me well over the last few years. It also helps me recommend the best restaurants in not only Memphis but Nashville as well. My diet pretty much consists of organic green juices and cookie dough......yep. it's true!
Spain has been my favorite trip so far. My favorite exercise is floating in lakes or the ocean. I guess it doesn't really count as exercise because I'm super buoyant. I love Tennessee because it's has not one but THREE music cities and that makes it pretty special :)
