Mmm... breakfast. Bowls of sweet, ripe berries , fluffy buttermilk biscuits and freshly squeezed citrus, thick country bacon, warm maple syrup, buttery pancakes or nutty french toast :) Please read entire listing.
Your own private hideaway. Your room is the only one on the second floor. Great for peace and privacy.
Thanks for checking out "The Dandelion"!
your stay includes delicious breakfasts prepared by a previous B&B Innkeeper/Chef/Baker/Food Stylist (Taryn)
Clean linens and towels will be in your private suite as well as fresh flowers and homemade cookies. (fresh baked daily of course!)
The bathroom has many drawers for storing your items for easy access. Also there are suitcase racks in the suite to rest your bags on and an empty closet as well stocked with wooden hangers so no need to bring your own.
There is a cabinet in the bathroom with a green glass handle that has several lotions, sunscreen, shampoo, etc for you to use if needed.
My location is in the Historic Evergreen district in Midtown and is five minutes from downtown Memphis and within walking distance to The Levitt Shell, Overton Park , Brooks Art Museum the Cooper- Young area and Overton Square.
This is a great area! Especially in the Spring/Fall/Summer months. Overton Park is so green and lush most of the time.
Some of the best concerts are at the Levitt Shell in the park and most of them are free! (ask me about this during check-in) I offer folding chairs if it's a concert season. I have seen North Missisippi Allstars there, Norah Jones, Mavis Staples, Todd Snider, and more. This is truly a magical venue! I hope concerts will be available during your stay. I can recommend other music venues as well. Anything from hipster hangs, dive-bars or juke joints. Of course weekends will offer a much better selection. There are other walkable music venues such as The Hi-Tone and Stonewall Hall nearby and some local eateries, a great gift shop and also a yoga center.
If you're vegan just give advance notice so almond or walnut milk can be made prior to your stay or if you would rather just have fresh vegetable juice or smoothies made in the vitamix. Typically my breakfasts are on the decadent side. Most people splurge while on holiday but they can also be on the healthier side if need be.
Feel free to stretch out, put your feet up, grab a book, wrap up with a warm throw in the living room or library. It makes me happy to see my guests feeling comfy here. That's what makes airbnb stand out from hotels right? If there are no other guests staying downstairs, the flat screen tv with internet and Netflix is available in the den at the end of the hall. (though this room is super casual, there may even be a vacuum cleaner in the corner, seriously very comfy though)
There is a navigation system that you can use during your stay to make it easier for you to get to your destinations.
Getting lost is a bummer, so feel free to hook it up
on your daily adventures.
Having been in the hospitality industry for several years I sort of know when to be available or to let people people be on their own program.
laundry- don't be shy about asking where the washer and dryer are. They are quick and efficient and there is always detergent as well.
Send a message if you have any questions or concerns.
Hope to see you in Memphis!! ^@^
Oops. forgot to mention, if you're without wheels you can take "Memphis Hop". While the trolley is great, it's limited to where it will take you. This service takes you to all major attractions and gives you discounts at Stax, Graceland, etc. kind of a win-win. You can access "hop-on" just down the street at Overton Park.
smoking only allowed on front porch.
candles not allowed in guest rooms. No ink pens in the bed. No reefer smokage.
call ahead if you can't make check in times. I'm pretty flexible.
(flexible with communication)
Taryn was such a wonderful host! We stayed in the Dandelion room for one night.. And we couldn't have had a better experience. There were cookies and water for us upon arrival! She gave us great recommendations in the area. The breakfast in the morning was so delicious and a perfect way to start our day. Thank you Taryn!
Taryn's home is so lovely and easily the best kept secret in Memphis! We loved our stay and would most certainly return. The home is gorgeous and even better in person. The breakfast option is a must-do - Taryn is a fantastic cook and baker, we loved coming down in the mornings and back to our room in the evenings to see what treats she had left us! The neighborhood is very safe and in a very central area. It was easy to get everywhere we wanted to go (by car), with nothing more than 20 or so minutes away. Staying with Taryn is an incredible deal for the level of service you receive. If you're considering visiting Memphis, you should most definitely book your stay here!
Taryn was a wonderful host. She gave us great recommendations for Memphis (check out Mollie Fontaines) and she was very kind and inviting. The room was beautiful and warm and the breakfast was delicious.
Staying with Taryn was fantastic. The room and house were exactly as described and her cooking was amazing. She even went to the trouble of giving us lots of helpful recommendations of things to do in Memphis before we arrived. Taryn is the perfect host! We would definitely stay here again.
We were incredibly welcomed into this wonderful home by Taryn who is an amazing hostess. Her home was so comfortable and made our stay in Memphis so enjoyable and relaxing. From the moment we arrived to the day we were leaving we were pampered. Her home is exactly what is pictured and she went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. She is an amazing cook and we had the most scrumptious breakfasts each morning. Then delicious cookies in our room with a fresh pitcher of water in the afternoon. The fresh flowers in our room and on the breakfast table absolutely made it complete. I would stay there again when in that area and recommend Taryn's home to everyone. Almost forgot to mention the day we left she gave us fresh baked cookies for our trip home.
I hope I have the opportunity to visit Memphis soon, so that I can stay here again. The ambiance in the whole house was very warm and welcoming, and my en suite room on the second floor (the only room occupying the 2nd floor) was very private, clean and comfortable. I could easily stay here a week or longer.
I prefer to stay in walkable neighborhoods, especially residential areas where I can walk for exercise and enjoy gardens and architecture along the way. Taryn's neighborhood did not disappoint!
For those looking for the bed only in "BnB", the Dandelion is a wonderful place to stay. For those of you also interested in the breakfast aspect of BnB, prepare to have your socks knocked off! Taryn made from scratch the most scrumptious breakfasts, with coffee and fresh sqeezed juices. There just aren't many good restaurants, in any city, that serve this quality of breakfast, and if they do, it's only for Sunday brunch and they charge much more!
When I made my reservation, I opted for breakfast as a convenience. While staying at the Dandelion, I learned with each breakfast that Taryn has incredible culinary and creative skills. I would actually plan a trip to Memphis just to stay and dine at Taryn's again!!
If you shy away from traditional BnB experiences because you want more privacy, and don't want to interact with other guests, don't worry! Taryn is open to hearing about what kind of experience you want to have and will honor that. She is an amazing and gracious host!
Taryn's Dandelion room and gourmet breakfast is possibly the most delicious AND economical deal around Memphis, and maybe even on AirBnB.
Taryn was flexible about my late arrival, and I was greeted with a chocolate chip cookie and a well-appointed room and bathroom to myself. The entire house was well-decorated and inviting; the smell of sugar being caramelized wafted from the kitchen. The fact that my money was well-spent became very apparent at breakfast times, when caramel pancakes blew my mind and a frosted glass of fresh-squeezed OJ (clementines, really) took me back to childhood. As a virgin AirBnb'er, I could not imagine a better first-time experience nor hostess. Thank you for taking care of me, Taryn!

I managed a few B&B's for several years before coming to Memphis and thought it would be fun to have my own. Though not exactly the same, there are many perks that are similar. I have a small cookie business/hobby that keeps me pretty busy and I seem to host almost every day. Also I'm a session vocalist. But don't worry, I promise not to break out in song while you're here . My work as a food stylist and catering business owner has served me well over the last few years. It also helps me recommend the best restaurants in not only Memphis but Nashville as well. My diet pretty much consists of organic green juices and cookie dough......yep. it's true!
Spain has been my favorite trip so far. My favorite exercise is floating in lakes or the ocean. I guess it doesn't really count as exercise because I'm super buoyant. I love Tennessee because it's has not one but THREE music cities and that makes it pretty special :)
