The Space

Welcome to this comfortable double room.

The house is in the centre of the Spa town of Harrogate. We are just across the road, 1min. from both the Turkish Baths and the famous Betty’s café. The rooms are comfortable and quiet and there is a spacious bathroom on each floor.

For those of you who are exhibiting at the Conference Centre or performing at the Royal Hall they are at the bottom of the hill, 5 mins walk, or if you are performing at the Wesley Chapel it is 1 minute away. There is also a theatre, cinema, and numerous restaurants and bars within 5 minutes walk of the house.

Breakfast is usually a selection of seasonal fruits either fresh fruit salad or poached, with cereals and yoghurt, followed by scrambled egg and smoked salmon, poached egg and spinach, or boiled eggs, and then toast and marmalade, jam, marmite, or honey, really, lots to choose from!

First we are opposite Betty's, famous for delicious pastries and coffee or light meals, and then there are any number and a huge variety of restaurants within 5 minutes walk of the house. Dinner? In Harrogate? No problem!

There is a TV, radio, hairdryer, and tea and coffee in all the rooms or by arrangement, and use of an iron and ironing board if needed.

There is a lane by the house where you can load and unload and then parking for one car by the house. If you would like to come by train, the station is 10 minutes walk away.

For holidays:
Harrogate is in the middle of the Dales with glorious wild walks from hilltop villages like Middlesmoor, where, it is rumoured, Lytton Strachey once stayed at The Crown. If you prefer a more serene splendour there is the National Trust’s Fountains Abbey where you could walk to Studley Royal along the water-side and back along the wooded banks, and the Woodland Trust has restored Hackfall Wood, a must for those of a romantic frame of mind. If you love gardens, the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr are only an hour’s walk from the house. Harrogate’s famous Stray is across the road for a morning or an evening stroll.

Check In
  • Rachel and her accommodation are charming. Set off one of the main streets in Harrogate, it's perfectly located: just a quick stroll to most places, including public transport. And yet, despite being so central, the house is still very quiet.
Everything is very tastefully furnished, bright and cheerful. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast with fresh fruit, cereals, toast, juices , eggs and coffee.
There is no longer wi-fi available but many cafes and bars do have it.
Harrogate itself is a very attractive town with plenty to do and the surrounding countryside looks beautiful. Would like to go back and would definitely stay here and recommend it.
Thank you for your hospitality Rachel!

Rachel was very friendly, and prepared a delicious breakfast for us in the morning; lots of fresh fruits, cereals and eggs. We had a fantastic stay, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for the ideal place to stay in Harrogate.

    Response from Rachel:

That is very generous, thank you so much Ed. I hope that I will see you both at some future date and that you will have time for the Dales and all NY has to offer!

I have two grown up children and three grandchildren I very much enjoy helping with on occasion. Passionate about the arts particularly textiles and Renaissance paintings, I like visiting places that have a range of period properties and ancient churches, the whole of history how it went and where we are now fascinates me. Politics too.
