The Space

This distinctive 200m2 loft is situated on the first floor of a historic warehouse and monument on the Brouwersgracht in the center of Amsterdam. Brouwersgracht is called the most beautiful canal/street of Amsterdam.

This apartment is located close to the 'Jordaan' a very lively area with shops, cafe's and bars in the center of Amsterdam. Shopping street 'Haarlemmerdijk' is around the corner. Westerpark, Vondelpark and the Central Station are just a few minutes away.

In 2008/2009 this floor of the old warehouse has been completely transformed to a 200m2 loft. The facade and the central stairway will be renovated soon.

In the design of the apartment a contrast has been sought between preserving the historic elements such as beams and floor, and minimalistic new additions. The kitchen and bathroom are completely new and modern with all the appliances you need. The loft has an open floor plan, so the daylight gets in and the apartment feels very spacious. The rounded translucent bathroom-wall (not transparent) is the center of the floor plan and consists of nearly 1,000 very special glass blocks and acts as a subtle light-object at night.

There is a roof terrace at the back of the house where you can have a sunny breakfast. At the front of the house which is orientated south, you can open the two doors an enjoy the canal view.

  • Perfect stay at Marloes loft. The flat is located in one of the most gorgeous canal of Amsterdam. Many trendy restaurants, cafés, bars around and walking distance from the central station. The loft is spacious, functional with minimalistic design, I really loved it. A big plus for the bathroom and the backyard terrace. Thank you again to Marloes to made our stay that amazing!

  • Well, what can I say about our first trip to Amsterdam but WOW!!! Amazing city with beautiful streets and canals. Marloes was there to welcome us at her home. The apartment, unlike any other in its vast open space and stunning architectural details, is on the second floor of an old warehouse overlooking a serene canal.

The loft-style apartment was so amazing that we had to almost force ourselves to leave the apartment in order to see the city.
It was a refuge after a day of exploring.

The area is safe and surrounded by the most amazing views, shops and restaurants. I highly recommend Marloes if you wants a memorable experience.

Marloes had a nice bottle of wine for us to try as well, and the most amazing Dutch treats to enjoy. I can't think of any other place I'd like to stay in. The pictures I sent my friends of the apartment made them very envious too.

  • The loft is gorgeously designed and located in one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods in Amsterdam. Marloes was such a wonderful and generous host. she made sure that our stay was as convenient and comfortable as possible. we couldn't have asked for more. we stayed for two weekends in a row and will definitely book again.
    highly recommended!

  • The flat is very spacious, well decorated and located in a good area but unfortunately there were a couple of things that affected the experience. Although the apartment was tidy, it needed a bit of airing and a spring clean. In particular the sofa, which did not smell too good at all and put you off wanting to sit on it.

We were also woken up very early in the morning by the neighbours upstairs who have a young child. The child appeared to run continuously up and down the apartment and for a young child she/he is very heavy footed! The noise continued from 6.30am to 9pm. Luckily we were out most of the day but when we were in, it sounded like he/she was in the room with us! It was incredibly annoying and disturbing. We let Marloes know and she said she was aware and was going to try and find a measure to limit the noise. Hopefully she will do this soon.

Despite the above, I would definitely suggest staying here.

    Response from Marloes:

Isha is a good guest. We have no complaints. Only we were a little disappointed about her review. We invited her into our own home and were very pleased to make her feel living in Amsterdam for a while. We always try to make the stay of our guest as comfortable as possible and clean the house in advance, having separate sheets and towels for guest, providing foods and drinks and all the equipments can be used. It is an old house from 1640 so in some ways it is obvious it sometimes can not have the same level of maximum comfort as newly build houses. Sometimes you can hear some noise of the neighbors if they are around. We are very sorry that that disturbed her stay. We are discussing this with our neighbor. If there were any other comments, she could have talked to us and we would have helped her or solved this. Thanks for staying and I hope she had a great time nevertheless. Best Marloes

  • Marloes was a supremely gracious host and her apartment is nothing less than spectacular. Upon arrival, Marloes left us treats and helpful maps she had printed out for us (they were better than any other maps I tried to use the whole time). Her loft is stunning, immaculate and welcoming. We were amongst the canal streets of the Jordaan and a quick walk from anything that we would need. For a Queensday weekend, we were close to the action, but on a quiet block to sleep peacefully despite the parties. I cannot recommend this apartment or Marloes more highly. We are ready to swap houses for good! Thank you for an unforgettable time in your beautiful home.
