Rory was really great - very welcoming and nice. Neighborhood location was fantastic, safe, etc. and unit was as described. This is definitely a budget unit, no AC, pretty small, no frills, etc. but fantastic as a home base if you are out and about and would rather spend money on activities and diving, like us. The small kitchen is also a nice plus, outside porch, and gas grill. Rory even offered some free kale from his garden! Free wifi and cable, full fridge, toaster, hot plate, blender, coffee maker, and most plates, cups, bowls and utensils you would need if cooking. Washer and dryer if you need them.
Rory was fantastic! The place was a great home base for exploring the big island!
We only chatted with Rory for a short time, but it was immediately clear that he is just an excellent human being. He treats his guests like family and saw us off with very warm wishes. Upon arrival, he recommended a couple of outdoor activities to us, all of which we did and really enjoyed. Rory made himself very available, but the studio also felt very private.
The studio itself was as described--it is fairly small, but there is plenty of space to move around, a well-stocked kitchen, and a really nice outdoor patio space with a little bit of an ocean view. There was an excellent guide book for us to use at the apartment. A perfect little space for two people to share, especially if you want to be able to do some cooking while you travel.
I recommend this place wholeheartedly and will definitely try and stay here, and get to know Rory a little better, on a future trip to Kona!
I can't express how excellent a time we had. I rented Rory 's Garden Suite for my sister and niece to come visit here in Kona. When I stayed a couple of months ago, it was so great, I thought it would be a beautiful place for my sister to get to know the area. Rory is such a great host, I can't say enough good stuff about him . He is like family now and every time we come back, we 'll be hoping there's a space available to rent here again!
Rory was so warm, welcoming, and knowledgable - a great host. He provided lots of beach gear and even moved us into a much bigger space when our neighbors unexpectedly arrived with a noisy baby. The place was in good shape and very clean.
Such a great host! Provided boogie boards, snorkels, beach towels, beach chairs, coolers, and most importantly, an a maxing guidebook with custom notes about the best places to go on the island. The unit was very cozy with a nice soft bed, direct TV with every movie channel, and a relaxing patio. Neighborhood is quite and short drive to the main restaurants and shopping area in Kona. Will definitely stay here again. Rory is awesome!
