The Space

We are a family of 3 (mom, dad, and bebe) and have a house in downtown Jersey City. We speak English, Japanese and Bulgarian and little Spanish. I know our place is priced lower than it's value, but we decided to use it to serve other people until our bebe grows up. We like helping travelers from all over the world and always enjoy accommodating them. Our guests get entire first floor (huge one room with alcove) which has own bathroom and kitchenette (sink, microwave, and fridge). It is totally private and you don't have to share anything with us. But we live right above you, so if you need help, we will be right there. We have two beds (queen and full size) and can accommodate 4 people easily, and if you don't mind sleeping on air mattress, we can accommodate up to 6!

Our house is located in 10min walk on lively street from Grove St. PATH station. You can find nice restaurants and supermarket on the way. It is also close to Newport shopping mall and Hamilton Park. If you go little further, you can enjoy a walk by Hudson river with Manhattan view. It is a very family oriented, residential and safe area.

It is easy to access to Manhattan via PATH. It takes 7 min to World Trade Center and 18 min to Midtown, 33rd st. There are also options of ferries and taxi.

We have private driveway, and if you like to bring your car, you are welcome to park your car for additional $10/night.

We will do your laundry for you for $5/load (washer and dryer). Just ask us.

The nearest airport is Newark(EWR), but you can land on JFK and LGA and come here within 2 hours, depending on transportation you take and traffic.

Everything in the floor.

When they check in and check out, unless they have problems. Usually guests here are gone most of the day and night sight-seeing, so we don't see each other very often.

Rustique pizza, view of Manhattan from the Hudson River, Trico's icecream.

12min walk to PATH Grove street. There are bus stops around here too.

  • Yukiko was a great host. She was always available when we needed her input. She always responded quickly and was friendly.

  • Very nice place in an incredibly quiet street, only minutes away from NYC. Yukiko and her husband are wonderful and courteous people. Her place will without a doubt be my No.1 when I need a place to stay close to Manhattan.

  • Yukiko and her family were great hosts. No matter which question we had they were of great help. The place was clean and looked exactly as in the (website hidden), towels and shampoo were available. And the separate entrance made it easy to come and go without disturbing the hosts.
The PATH train which takes you to 33rd or WTC is in walking distance, although the WTC station is closed on weekends. The Newport Mall and a grocery were also in walking distance. The good thing about shopping in NJ is no tax on clothing or shoes.
We'll definitely recommend this place and our next stay will be there again.

  • It is really a sweet place. Excellent environment, private and clean only for you. The landlord is so nice to let us park extra time after we moved out so I can go the interview.

  • I recently stayed 2 nights in this unit. First day there is NO AC in the unit at all. We were not informed about it. Upon requesting we were provided couple of table fans but it was too hot that nite and we had hard time sleeping. Second day the owner (email hidden) inside the unit and that served only the front room. There is a second room (hall split) and there is no AC. If you are using both the rooms then it would be an issue.

The owners response of the AC issue was below and I felt it was rude.

"Sorry for No AC. We did't expect the weather to be too hot for you and some guest cannot live without it"

If you are deciding between Cost Vs Comfort, this place would help save the cost compromising comfort. The unit looks great only in the pictures.

  • Location was a 12 minute walk from the PATH station, 15 minutes if you're doing a leisurely stroll. There were plenty of restaurants and cafés around the area too. The space was perfect and accessible. Because of the separate entrance you don't have to worry about bothering anyone when you get home late at night. Yukiko did inform us that she played piano and that her baby wakes up early but this never troubled us as we weren't light sleepers. Plus, after doing a lot of walking in the city, we slept like the dead.

After the initial meeting, Yukiko left us alone but she was very easy to get in touch with, just a doorbell or airbnb message away. Our stay was very pleasant and issue-free. Would recommend this space for couples or an adult group. The 12-minute walk to the PATH station might tire younger kids who are past the stroller age.

  • Yukiko and Milan were great hosts. Accommodating and hands off. The area is a short walk to the PATH train with plenty of restaurants. Place looks exactly like the photos.

About
I am a proud mom of a little girl and a wife of an amazing hubby. In the house, we speak English, Japanese, Bulgarian, and little Spanish. I love traveling, music, meeting new people, and knitting. I love New York, New Jersey, and my house. I know our place is priced lower than it's value, but we decide to use it to serve people until our kid(s) grow up. My wish here at Airbnb is to help travelers with having memorable visit in NYC and NJ.
