You can rent the entire mansion of a wealthy merchant built over 165 years ago (up to 10 people).
Traditional wooden buildings built during the Edo period, the beautiful garden of the area's most dull hole flow, and the swimming pond in the carp swimming pool are all private.There are also two large and small bathrooms and a renovated theater room.
Enjoy a quiet and enriching time in the five houses in the Kindo district, which is also designated as a preservation district for groups of traditional buildings.
The space
There are 2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor (4 semi-double beds in total) and 6 Japanese-style rooms on the 1st floor, 2 of which can be used as bedrooms. There is also a renovated warehouse that can be used as a meeting room, equipped with a projector and conference table. There are 3 shared toilets on the 1st floor and 2 bathrooms, large and small, on the 1st floor, and it can accommodate up to 10 people.
Guest access
You can access all areas except the staff room and the dirt floor kitchen.

We would like to inform you of the following to make your stay more comfortable. Please note the following before you book.
● Introduction
・ In order to pass on the historic building to the next generation, we use the Omi merchant mansion owned by Higashiomi City as an accommodation facility. The concept is to experience the atmosphere and elegance of the era when the building was at its most glorious, and because it is designed to retain the atmosphere of an old private house as much as possible, there are parts where the insulation and privacy are not as good as in modern buildings. Especially in the winter mornings and evenings, the cold cannot be completely blocked out. Please understand in advance.
・ Because it is a traditional wooden building and a cultural asset designated by Higashiomi City, the airtightness and soundproofing are not perfect. Enjoy the experience of staying in a beautiful landscape and building that has not changed since the Edo period. If you want, we can also provide a guide about Omi merchants and the building.
・ Due to the structure of the building, sound is easily heard. Please be considerate of opening windows and doors, and of sounds and voices at night.
・ The entire building, including the premises and fixtures, is a cultural property designated by Higashiomi City. We ask for your cooperation in treating the fixtures with respect in order to leave valuable property to the next generation.
Please do not significantly change the current situation, such as moving equipment in the guest room without permission. Removing fixtures and equipment is prohibited.
In the unlikely event that damage or loss is confirmed, the guest may be charged.
・ Due to the structure of the 160-year-old building, the toilet is only on the first floor.
There are two locations, one next to the living room and one next to the bathroom dressing room.
The bathroom next to the living room has a step, and it may be inconvenient for those with weak legs.
・ The roads around the building are narrow alleys and are not paved with asphalt because it is a traditional landscape preservation area. If you have a suitcase with casters, please contact us in advance. Our staff will help you carry it if needed.
- About meals
We only have a "room-only plan" where meals are not provided.
If you would like to order a catered bento box listed on the reservation page, please be sure to consult with us before booking. We will inform you individually about allergies and fees.
● Reservations for guests with children
・ Adults: 12 years old and over
Children: 2-12 years old
Infants: 0-2 years old
Children are included in the basic number of people, just like adults.
Infants will be co-sleeping and will not be charged. However, if you add a futon, it will cost 2,200 yen (tax included) per person.
Please let us know when you confirm your reservation if you would like to add a futon.
● Transportation
If you come by car, you can use the parking lot below.
1. Shimomura Shoten-mae parking lot
This is the closest parking lot to the hotel. There are about 5 parking spaces. However, please refrain from using vehicles other than mincars, compact cars, and regular cars as the access road is narrow.
For parking access, please refer to the image on the booking page. Other routes may be narrow and may cause the car to go off the road.
2. Kandou Village entrance parking lot
It is about a 5-minute walk to the hotel. Parking is available for about 20 cars. Please use this parking lot for SUVs, minivans, wagons, one-box cars, etc.
● About locking the front gate and back door
・ At the time of check-in, the staff will give you the key to the entrance gate and the key to the back door (spare). The entrance gate is heavy, so if it is difficult to unlock, please use the back door.
● About bathing
〇 Common matters
・ After use, please put towels in the provided basket or in the corner of the dressing room.
〇 Large bath (on the right side facing the aisle)
・ Because the bathtub is large, it takes about an hour to fill with hot water.
・ If the hot water in the bathtub feels lukewarm, you can add more hot water.
〇 Small baths (on the left side of the aisle)
・ The small bath does not have a reheating function, so we recommend that you operate the water heater immediately before bathing. It will be hot in about 15-20 minutes.
● About the use of the refrigerator and kitchen
・ There is one refrigerator in the common area on the 1st and 2nd floors. You are welcome to use it during your stay.
* Please check if you have forgotten anything in the refrigerator when you leave.
・ Please help us sort the garbage (burnable garbage, plastic bottles, cans, bottles).
・ Please do not use the kitchen as it is used by other tenants for business purposes. We thank you for your understanding.
・ Please do not put your weight on or forcefully move the glass top table near the kitchen next to the well, as it may break.
Also, when moving the glass top, be careful not to pinch your fingers.
The well is covered with a board, but please be careful not to let small children near it for safety. There is one well in the building and four in the garden.
● About lighting
・ The common areas on the 1st floor (the Japanese-style room on the right side of the entrance, the 3 tatami mats on the left, the passage from the Japanese-style room on the left to the storage room, and the dirt floor area from the entrance to the reception counter) are centrally managed, so the power will be turned off when the staff leaves the building. Thank you for your understanding.
・ From a building maintenance perspective, the lighting is operated by remote control instead of a power switch. There is a remote control for each light, so please do not move the remote control.
* Please help us conserve electricity as much as possible to reduce CO2 emissions.
Please be careful not to confuse the emergency ALSOK communication machine button with the remote control switch for lighting. The ALSOK button is directly connected to ALSOK and the security guard will come running.

In the event of an emergency such as an earthquake, Anfukuji Temple, a 2-minute walk from NIPPONIA, will be the primary meeting place, and Puraza Sankakuyoshi, a 6-minute walk, will be the designated evacuation destination.
