Your spacious room overlooks a redwood forest with a meadow & wooded hills beyond. You may think you want to visit Sonoma County vineyards, beaches, or the Russian River, but once you're here, you may not want to leave. The room is quiet. You have your own bathroom called "The Mexi" because of Mexican tiles & mementos of travels in that country. There is safe, off street parking. You are within walking distance of the picturesque village of Occidental where there are good restaurants, gift shops, & tennis courts. People also love to ride bicycles around here even tho the roads are narrow, curvy, & steep. We are early risers & will have coffee ready by 7:00 with a gourmet continental breakfast including home pressed organic apple juice, homegrown organic seasonal fruits, homemade jam & special sweets. If you're staying more than one night, I can cook breakfast for you one of the later dates. We can talk menu. We are well situated as a stopover, but we could also be a destination. We have lawn Bocce ball & horse shoes. For rest after those exertions, there are hammocks in the redwoods. There is such good bird watching here that the local Audubon stops here during their Xmas bird count. When the weather isn't conducive to outside time, there is a fireplace in the living room. We love to share this beautiful place. Come on over!
Front yard, back deck, redwood forest, living room, refrigerator but no cooking. There's a hot pot for making tea & tea provided.
Interaction with Guests
I try to interact as much or a little as they want. I enjoy having guests, so I try to at least meet them for my own pleasure.

This is a magical house set in the most beautfitul natural setting. The house has a great vibe, and Mary was both welcoming and very respectful of our privacy.
Stayed 1 night with Mary - had a great time. The house was beautiful, the room was just as described, and the redwoods were majestic in the January fog. Mary had electric blankets and a personal heater in our room to make sure we were comfy during the chilly evening. Mary was flexible in our arrival time and helped us find neat-local things to do. Highly recommend this spot. We hope to return! A big thanks to both Mary and AirBnB for the "One Less Stranger" gift - it was a very sweet welcome.
Mary was so welcoming and her house is SO cute and cozy. Waking up to a view of the redwoods was simply beautiful. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking to stay in or around the area.
We had a second short but great visit with Mary. As before, her home is very welcoming and the visitor's space has a nice private feel — makes it seem like we are right at home. The fresh-pressed apple juice, coffee and home-made bread do too. The location and the surrounding redwoods are blissful. Mary is a wonderful host and it's easy and fun to to share experiences — she is well-traveled and a fun conversationalist. Thanks again and we'll see you again soon!
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great place to stay the night with nice view of the redwoods right out the bedroom window. Great photos and art throughout the home and Mary is a very gracious and wise host. A pleasure.
Mary was such a wonderful host! She is super warm, welcoming, and helpful. We enjoyed chatting with her and hearing about her home and travels. Her house is gorgeous--- the photos can't do the beauty of the house and its surrounding environs justice. Mary served delicious homemade bread, apple sauce, and apple juice for breakfast. We definitely plan to come back--- we just hope that this place will be available again then! Thanks so much, Mary!

My husband, Gene, & I retired in 2011 & spent that year building a house on the Pacific Ocean in Panama. (on airbnb as " beautiful beach front property" in Playa de Barqueta). Both our California & Panama places are in beautiful settings which we try to enhance through gardening & bird feeding. We've always loved traveling, especially in Latin America, & these travels are reflected in our art collection & furnishings, which people seem to enjoy. We've hosted many a house party of family & friends, so hosting for airbnb feels comfortable & enjoyable. Ya'll come!
