Lovely characterful room in a house belonging to an artist and a musician.
A lovely large room in a late Georgian house belonging to an artist and a musician.
Our house was built between 1820 and 1830. It is characterful, and is furnished simply and comfortably, with many original features and stripped floorboards throughout. We overlook Museum Gardens, The Museum of Childhood and St John's, a John Soanes' church. It is a two minute walk from Bethnal Green Tube, which is on the Central Line and 15 minutes from Oxford Circus. Brick Lane and Shoreditch are both about a 15 minute walk away, as are Broadway Market and Columbia Road.
The room available has two sofas, one of which is a very comfortable double sofa bed. There is a shared bathroom and second loo. You are welcome to help yourself to breakfast, tea and coffee at any time, and to use the kitchen and the washing machine and dryer.
All bedding and towels are provided, as is Wifi connection.
If you have any questions, please ask.
2 minute walk from Bethnal Green Underground and from buses
Our house is strictly no smoking.
We would be happy to accommodate a guest with a well-behaved pet.
If you are coming back late at night, please be as quiet as possible. (We are sometimes out late ourselves so will do the same for you!)
Arrival and departure are flexible - please liaise with us about arrangements.
Great location and great hosts in a nice and quiet neighborhood. All fine with acess to kitchen and spotless bathroom. Although you need to like to sleep in a bed that is a bit on the hard side. I like that so had no problems.
Susie and her husband were very warm and welcoming. Lovely people. Breakfast, good coffee, fresh fruit - more than you could ask for. Bethnal Green is a lovely part of London too, and the room looks out over a park bookended by beautiful old buildings. Waking up on a winter morning felt really magical, not least because of the vintage rocking horse in the corner of the room.
Susie and Jock's house is perfectly located in a quiet street overlooking Museum Gardens and very close to Bethnal Green tube station. It is also very handy for the York Hall where my event was taking place and ridiculously convenient to Craft Cocktails which was also on my must-visit list of things to do in London. I had a great stay there. The room was warm and bright and comfortable - I slept really well! In the mornings I enjoyed drinking my tea while looking out over the park and just enjoying the many beautiful things in the room. The atmosphere of the house is charming, arty and unique. Everything was thoughtfully presented with guest comfort in mind - lovely towels, an A-Z and breakfast things including raspberries and blueberries. Some days I had breakfast in the dining room downstairs, still warm from the fire of the night before, but there's also a dining table in the room with the bed. Plenty of space to relax. Jock and Susie were both very welcoming and friendly and I hope I have the opportunity to stay again. Thanks so much!
Well it is not a coincidence that I always stay at Susie and Jock's house when I am in London.
I feel at home in their very atmospheric, warm and interesting home.
Susie and Jock are always very welcoming, helpful and kind.
The room is large and cosy and has a view to a park.
It is also so nice to wake up in the morning looking out at the squirrels and the green grass.
I am sorry for writing my review late. Susie's house and the room are so lovely with a lot of artworks and antique goods. It is like staying in a gallery! I am sure it adds artistic flavor to your stay in London and make your trip more unforgettable. I'd love to visit her house again when I have the next opportunity to go to London.
Susie and her family are very friendly and I had genuine hospitality. You can get good advice about getting around in London from them.
The location is very convenient, only a few minutes walk from the tube station. Also it is safe as her house is only three doors down the police station.
