About This Listing
Lovely characterful room in a house belonging to an artist and a musician.
A lovely large room in a late Georgian house belonging to an artist and a musician.
Our house was built between 1820 and 1830. It is characterful, and is furnished simply and comfortably, with many original features and stripped floorboards throughout. We overlook Museum Gardens, The Museum of Childhood and St John's, a John Soanes' church. It is a two minute walk from Bethnal Green Tube, which is on the Central Line and 15 minutes from Oxford Circus. Brick Lane and Shoreditch are both about a 15 minute walk away, as are Broadway Market and Columbia Road.
The room available has two sofas, one of which is a very comfortable double sofa bed. There is a shared bathroom and second loo. You are welcome to help yourself to breakfast, tea and coffee at any time, and to use the kitchen and the washing machine and dryer.
All bedding and towels are provided, as is Wifi connection.
If you have any questions, please ask.
2 minute walk from Bethnal Green Underground and from buses
Our house is strictly no smoking.
We would be happy to accommodate a guest with a well-behaved pet.
If you are coming back late at night, please be as quiet as possible. (We are sometimes out late ourselves so will do the same for you!)
Arrival and departure are flexible - please liaise with us about arrangements.
Susie was easy to communicate with, and she was very flexible when we needed to change our check in arrangements at the last minute. The room was also very nice. Recommended!
Being at Susie's place was just wonderful. I spent four weeks there. The room was very spacious and lovely decorated with an incredible green view over a city park - even more beautiful than shown on the pictures. The area is very interesting with many things to explore within walking distance like the Columbia Road Flower Market, Broadway Market or the famous Brick Lane. Also it is very well connected to the City Center. Susie and her family made me feel more than welcome. I really enjoyed our conversations and leaving the place felt like leaving friends. Whenever coming to London I would love staying at this place again.
Great location and great hosts in a nice and quiet neighborhood. All fine with acess to kitchen and spotless bathroom. Although you need to like to sleep in a bed that is a bit on the hard side. I like that so had no problems.
Susie and her husband were very warm and welcoming. Lovely people. Breakfast, good coffee, fresh fruit - more than you could ask for. Bethnal Green is a lovely part of London too, and the room looks out over a park bookended by beautiful old buildings. Waking up on a winter morning felt really magical, not least because of the vintage rocking horse in the corner of the room.
Susie and Jock's house is perfectly located in a quiet street overlooking Museum Gardens and very close to Bethnal Green tube station. It is also very handy for the York Hall where my event was taking place and ridiculously convenient to Craft Cocktails which was also on my must-visit list of things to do in London. I had a great stay there. The room was warm and bright and comfortable - I slept really well! In the mornings I enjoyed drinking my tea while looking out over the park and just enjoying the many beautiful things in the room. The atmosphere of the house is charming, arty and unique. Everything was thoughtfully presented with guest comfort in mind - lovely towels, an A-Z and breakfast things including raspberries and blueberries. Some days I had breakfast in the dining room downstairs, still warm from the fire of the night before, but there's also a dining table in the room with the bed. Plenty of space to relax. Jock and Susie were both very welcoming and friendly and I hope I have the opportunity to stay again. Thanks so much!
