Our tiny fairy tale guest house in Downtown Madison is surrounded by James Madison Park and Lake Mendota with spectacular views, and intimate garden. Our amenities? king bed, all organic products, central to everything Madison; bikes, bus are close
I have a small but luxurious guesthouse, about the size of a garage (never was a garage, we built it as my office) with spectacular vistas AND ACCESS TO LAKE MENDOTA and our lovely garden in Madison, WI. There is a small bathroom with a shower and fluffy towels and a bedroom with a king size bed, brand new mattress and crisp, ironed linens. There is a cute cupola in the ceiling as well as a skylight and it is decorated with antique china on the walls, colorful furniture and rugs and privacy from our main house. We use only organic and natural cleaning products on the premises. Location is excellent, walking distance to state capital and UofW campus. The cottage has air conditioning, TV, and WiFi. We also have a PIER (on the water) Lake Mendota to enjoy the rowers, sailboats, etc. going by. Maybe sit and picnic during sunset? Within a few short blocks are many amazing restaurants that have made Madison a go to place for more than the University and business meetings.
On a bus line, access to Lake Mendota for guests, WIFI
Guest house of course but also our flower filled back yard with several seating area including a patio table and a water fountain, and roses on fence framing the lake.
Interaction with Guests
We love to visit with our guests but only if you wish and have the time.
The heart of Madison surrounds us. We have the big lake (Mendota) eclectic Willy Street with its great new restaurants, State Street where business and students mingle, the Capital, and the amazingly redone Children's Museum, as well as UW University in walking distance. Rental bikes are also very close by and a bus stops on our corner.
Bus and bike rentals very close. We have a bike to lend out as well
Other Things to Note
We have no pets and we only use organic products.
No smoking please!
Both hosts made me feel welcome. The place was peaceful and clean and cozy.I was busy while I was there so did not spend alot of time at the cottage.
The cottage itself was incredibly comfortable. The bed and sheets were outstanding. We very much enjoyed the location. We never drove our car once.
I would highly recommend.
This place was super cozy and very close in town. It was a cold weekend but I did not feel chilly at all with the luxurious warm floors. Just perfect for a person for the weekend. Clean and tidy. Sonja and Jim even left me some Christmas cookies and a card. Very sweet.
Our host made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, there was an initial mix up in which room we were to have and they had to move us to a different space the following day. Otherwise it was fine. Pat Frieder
thanks for being understanding about the mix up. I hope the breakfast on us at Four and Twenty; and the first night in our luxury suite helped mitigate the need to move. We would have gladly had you stay in that space even though you booked the small cottage if it had been available. Unfortunately, it was already taken.
Again, our sincere apology for putting you in the suite the first night.
I had a wonderful stay at Sonja's place for four nights. The place is beautiful, tidy, has one of the best beds I've ever slept on an provides full comfort and privacy. I enjoyed its proximity to the beautiful lake Mendota, viewed from the window and just one minute walk away. Sonja and her husband were out of town during my visit but were available for every question I had. In general, I highly recommend staying here!
I had a lovely stay in Madison! The accommodations are really comfortable, it's a perfect location to walk into the city, and the view of Lake Mendota from the room is very pretty. As a runner, I'd suggest asking Sonja and her husband about routes in the area- they have great recommendations.
Sonja is absolutely wonderful - she was instantly welcoming and incredibly accommodating. i had such a lovely experience - I could've spent all day on Sonja's beautiful property, but the location is ideal for anyone visiting madison; minutes from the Capitol, a few blocks from the rental bikes, access to the lake, etc. never had a problem parking and even when the weather dropped the room had heated floors and space heaters, so we were also comfortable. it is a place you will fall I love with and won't want to leave! thank you again! warmly, morgan
