Staying on this property will allow you to connect with and experience nature in an unforgettable way. Fall asleep to the sound of the stream and wake up to the beautiful songs of the birds on this private, one-acre property.

The space

This fully outfitted camp site is located in a river valley at the base of Mt. Ka’ala, the highest peak on Oahu. The private gated community is close to all beaches on the north shore and only about 2 miles from Haleiwa town center.

This property is entirely off-grid, yet still has the comforts of home. All energy is generated with solar power. Water is pumped from our private artesian well 180 feet below the surface of the earth. Experience the beautiful outdoors and serenity of the open air with the comforts of clean sheets, electricity, and a hot shower.

The 40' x 20' space is under a canopy of Monkeypod trees and surrounded by tropical plants and flowers. This is outdoor living at it's best. The lanai is fully equipped with a propane refrigerator, sink and stove. The outdoor shower is just a few steps away, where you can shower surrounded by beautiful red ginger flowers with a view of Mt. Ka'ala.

The bathroom with a water-flushing compostable toilet is about 30 paces from the tent.

We have many suggestions for hiking, surfing, snorkeling and dining spots.

There is a certified organic farm about a 5 minute walk up our private road where you can purchase organic produce directly from the farmer on Saturdays and Sundays.

Our guests have told us this hideaway is more than just a place to stay, but an experience of true native Hawaii.

Laundry facilities are available for use for guests staying 7 days or more.

This tent is on the same property with our main house and another tent, but the landscaping and the layout of the land allow for plenty of privacy.

Enjoy (when in season) sweet dwarf apple bananas, papayas, meyer’s lemons, Mexican limes, star fruit, and whatever is growing in the garden at the time.

Snorkeling gear and surfboards (2 x beginner soft tops)available for use.

There are two friendly hens and a loving cat which may visit during your stay. No other pets are allowed on the property, sorry.

Please be advised that trespassing on neighboring properties is not allowed.

Welcome to your off the grid glamping getaway. Please respect this green lifestyle and use common sense for energy efficiency. Generally speaking: Turn off lights, conserve water, and keep the power consumption as low as possible.

Please do not plug any electric heating elements into system (flat irons etc). The solar inverter cannot handle the load.

Glamping has a delicate water flush composting toilet system. Do not flush anything down the toilet, a waste basket is provided for toilet paper etc.

Wash sand from feet with hose outside before showering in bathroom.

CONSERVE WATER! This property utilizes a small private well. There is no city water. Please be mindful of shower length and frequency.

This property is not serviced by a municipal trash service. The owner has to take all garbage to the dump when full, so please be mindful of what you bring back to the property.Composting is available for vegetable scraps, coffee grinds, etc. to recycle nutrients back into the earth.

Please let us know if you have any questions/concerns or see anything in need of repair. We hope you enjoy staying here and are grateful to share this land with you!

Beautiful, quiet and just a short drive to historic Haleiwa. We had an excellent time!

We had a great time glamping. The tent/apartment is in a quiet area in a neighborhood of small ranches and farms that is about a 10-minute drive from town. There is a stream out the back of the property, though it was dry in the current drought conditions, from which we received visits from peacocks, wild pigs, and other fun guests. We loved to sit out the back of our tent area in the evening in the beautiful, warm and lush backyard, where animal and wind sounds were the only things we could hear. The tent itself has a tiny kitchen with a semi-operative fridge and a gas camping stove, and a cute, but not terribly comfortable living area. Even though it's open, it is very hot during the day, so you'll want to plan being out between the hours of about 9 and 5. It's pretty and quiet, but the tent is out back of someone's house on a narrow property, so you'll see and hear their adjoining neighbors, meaning it's not as private or as wild as we had expected. The outdoor shower is cute, but again, you're in sight of the neighboring properties. The toilet is in a shipping container about 75 feet away. The hosts have done a great job making it really pretty, but just be aware that you're going to need to take a flashlight to go in the middle of the night. Overall it was really fun and peaceful and we enjoyed our stay. We recommend to others, but it's a little expensive considering it's neither wild nor super-comfortable.

This place is just as advertised. It's in an absolutely beautiful location with great hosts. The coastline is only a few miles away with more than enough to do on the North Shore. I'll be back for sure.

Be aware of loud peacock & family of pigs. Also, stray cat crawled into tent at least three times & jumped into bed repeatedly. Mosquitoes!!!

Response from Matt And Marlys:
Sorry about your experience. I though our communication was very clear, as I personally guided you to our home before and after your arrival. The wild life in Hawaii is real and alive in the valley, which is why most glampers enjoy the property. Rustic outdoor living is not for everyone. Wish you would have contacted us in the morning instead of rushing off. Aloha

This was our second time and and we were so excited our favorite glamping spot was open for us to stay! Incredible way to camp Oahu in style. Comfy bed, friendly cat, amazing jungle noises, all the amenities you could want/need! Best shower!!!!! Be ready for the bugs to join in the evening ( as your outside) and the sounds of the jungle to wake you in the morning but the sunset skies as chance to camp in the Oahu jungle is beyond worth it!!!

We loved our time at North Shore Glamping! The property is in a great location off the beaten path but a 5-10 minute drive to really great amenities. We loved the outdoor space and enjoyed relaxing and having coffee on the lanai every morning. The tent was great and the bed was very comfortable. The compost toilet was clean and comfortable. We used natural bug spray and didn't have any issues at all with mosquitos. There are definitely 'sounds of nature' throughout the night but we didn't mind them. Great spot to unwind and connect with nature!

What a sweet retreat! The three nights of glamping at Matt and Marlys's put us close to nature yet with all the comforts of home. Birds sounds, creek sounds and peaceful nights in a bug-free tent allowed us to experience rural Oahu in a way few travelers are able.
