About This Listing
Nice cozy private room at spacious and light top floor apartment, very centrally located in the most upcoming neighborhood of Amsterdam, Oud-West.
Easy to reach with public transport.
The perfect place to start exploring the beautiful canals of Amsterdam!
Nice cozy room at spacious and light top floor apartment, very centrally located!
The apartment has a really cool look, and great vibe!
Your room is located on the 4th floor and has its own private entrance.
The shared apartment with a nice living room, kitchen, toilet & shower and balcony (Sunshine till it sets!!) is located on the 3rd floor.
The Vondelpark (The Central Park of Amsterdam), Anne Frank museum, Leidseplein (Party/Entertainment Area) and Museumplein (Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, Nightwatch of Rembrandt) are just 15 minutes walking and when you take the tram or rent a bike it's even faster to get to the nice spots!
100Mb/s fast internet, heating, kitchen with everything you need, bathroom with shower, washing machine, cool chesterfield couch, balcony, acoustic and electric guitar and of course some books as well ;)
In your room you will also find a Pocket Lonely Planet of Amsterdam which has everything this city has to offer written inside! You can use it and take it with you while enjoying the city as long as you don't loose it ;)
I always like to help you out if you have questions about the city or to give you recommendations about places to go out or eat.
You can always contact me through iMessage or Whatsapp or just by calling me or sending me a text message.
The area itself, Oud-West (Old West) is central, cool and upcoming. With the Ten Kate street market just around the corner! go there for the best freshly made sandwiches, humus, fruits or typical dutch herring ;)!
A new addition to the area are the Foodhallen (food halls) where you can try out al different kind of foods and drinks as well as go to the movies in the Filmhallen (movie halls), al this just one street away!
Furthermore, just around the corner there are many hip bars and great restaurants like Fier, Rotisserie (best burgers in Amsterdam and my favorite!), Pazzi (wood oven pizza) and Van t'Spit (free range rotisserie chicken) and many others were you can taste dishes from all over the world (Indonesian, Chinese, Indian, Greek, Italian, Turkish, Moroccan, and of course Dutch).
The tram stop is just around the street corner. Really good tram connections to every place in Amsterdam with tram 13 going to and from the Amsterdam central station. (website hidden) maps is also a great help with finding directions and tram connections here in Amsterdam, just use the public transport option! Anyhow, the location of the apartment is so central that you can just walk everywhere :)
I would recommend this place for travelers, solo or couples/friends who would like to stay with a true local ;)
I am guy who likes to invite travelers from all over the world to enjoy this beautiful city and I think this place will be perfect for you!
After you have done the booking, please read the confirmation email that you will get after booking with Airbnb, in this email you will find detailed descriptions to get to the apartment.
Until the 5th of June I will be working on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until 18:00h. So please, when checking in on these days remember to arrive after 18:00. If you are carrying a lot of luggage and you are maybe on a stopover, there are lockers at Schiphol and the Central station available to store your luggage. Also you can decide to go to a museum first and have your luggage stored there to overcome the time until 18:00 when I'm back from work.
Smoking is only allowed on the balcony which can be entered through the kitchen.
It is not allowed to give parties or to invite strangers to the room/apartment. Be sure to be absolutely silent in the staircase, especially at night, because the building is very noisy and I don't like to disturb my neighbors.
Besides that, please don't make to much noise after 23:30, If you are in a party or drinking mood, please go to a bar :)
I am young too and I like to go out as well, but when you get back from drinking, let's say around 05:00 :) please think of the neighborhood and make sure to be absolutely quiet when entering the apartment and walking the staircase.
The last but really important rule is to close the outside door very gently, but make sure it is closed. Again close it very gently, because we don't want to wake up the neighbors and my outside door has a habit of making too much noise when it is slammed close ;)
Erik was very accommodating and welcoming but the apartment is not quite like it is shown in the pictures. The bedroom is a converted attic which is separated from the main apartment (which contains the only bathroom) by a flight of stairs and storage hallway. The bedroom was fine but it was difficult to access and the need to go downstairs and into a different apartment to use the bathroom was unpleasant. Overall, a fine stay, but a bit misleading in the pictures and a bit overpriced
We stayed for 4 days / 3 nights and we were very happy with our stay. I think this place works for a specific crowd. Like I said, for us it worked very well, but I can see how it wouldn't work for others. To begin, you travel up a million tiny steps to get to the place. I was so concerned I was going to fall down them, but never did! Erik was a great host. He is very kind, welcoming, and accommodating. The loft was fun. We very much liked the comfy bed! The shared bathroom is not ideal, but we knew that it was shared going in. All in all, I have nothing to complain about and I would most definitely recommend staying here. Thanks Erik again for the great stay!
Decent place but way too expensive for what it is!
I completely agree with the comment below by Gabi + Stefan and also have to say I have mixed feelings about this apartment.
First of all, Erik as well as his girlfriend are very nice and helpful and the prior communication worked very smoothly. I loved the fact that he provides a pocket Lonely Planet for his guests.
The room itself was fine, but it was pretty cold because it didn't have central heating. However an electric heating was provided, which was helpful. The bed was very comfortable, the location was very good for sure! It is located in a very nice hip neighborhood, nice restaurants, shops and bars around, just a 10 mins tram ride from the central station.
However when evaluating the facilities thats another story. I'm young myself and have a very high tolerance, but the fact that the bathroom does not have a sink, nor mirror was a no-go. The bathroom situation brought me back to my spartanic backpacking times in Asia. The shared bathroom is tiny and you can picture yourself kneeling over the shower (mouldy) getting half your clothes wet when brushing your teeth or washing your face. Alternatively you can also brush your teeth in the kitchen sink. Something I'm totally fine with at a 4€ hostel, but which is unacceptable if you pay +100€ a night! So overall, the value that you get for that money is not really in relation.
Hi Lisa, I'm sorry you had mixed feelings because I rather have happy people who leave with an all positive vibe (like most of my guests in previous reviews). In my advertisement I say that the bathroom is small and simple and by looking at the pictures you can also notice there is no sink. Guests can always brush their teeth while showering or using the sink in the kitchen, which is what I do as well. So if it is a no-go, it was maybe better to check the advertisement a little better in advance.
I'm happy that you liked the bed and of course the neighborhood. However I do not fully understand why you felt being cold in the room. The heater is there to warm it up and it worked for the 2 French girls(and others) who stayed here before you and they even told me they where from the South of France but didn't had any problems with being cold ;) The heater does need some time to heat up the room but after a little while its all warmed up though!I also hope you understand we are not in Thailand, but in Amsterdam and prices are higher here (I know because I traveled through Asia and South America myself as wel). Prices are based on location, demand and season so please don't blame the price on me but on the economy. The reason you got here was probably because the hotels were too expansive, fully booked, or located too far from the center in the first place ;)
A lot of people are happy with my place already but I will take your tips of improvement in consideration.
Best of luck with your upcoming job :)
Erik is a great guy and makes you feel comfortable and gives you tips for your visit in Amsterdam!
