This is a perfect retreat for 1-2 people. The home is nestled at the far end of our expansive tropical garden with your own private entrance. Mr. Will, a true Southern gentleman who is 87 years old and refers to himself as “a young bachelor”, lives in the main house. If you see Will tending to his beloved garden be sure to say hello, he is just a peach.
About the neighborhood:
The location is truly stellar and in my opinion, the best in the city.
The Bywater is safe, charming and convenient. The Bywater is a creative and bohemian haven, a historic neighborhood with architectural charm, friendly neighbors, and great restaurants, some of the best music venues, coffee shops, boutiques and more.
It's a short mile to the French Quarter that you can easily bike, walk or drive/cab. In fact, you can cab, drive or bike to any part of town in 15 minutes or less. City Park & Fairgrounds (Jazz Fest) are less than a 10-minute drive and 20 min on bike. Frenchmen Street (the best spot in the city for live music) is also a short 10 min bike or drive.
Here are some of our favorites within a few blocks of the home: Satsuma Cafe (fresh juices and dishes made with local produce), Yoga Studio, Bywater Country Club (swimming pool, bar & restaurant), St. Claude Farmers Market, MiMi's in The Marigny (great spot for drinks, music and dancing), Mississippi River, Elizabeth's famous for their Praline Bacon), New Orleans Healing Center (yoga, food co-op, voodoo shop, bookstore, etc), Markey's Bar, Euclid Records (Vinyl & more), Mickey Markey Park, The Joint BBQ (best in town), Vaughns's Bar (where HBO Treme's Kermit Ruffins plays horn every Thursday), BJ’s (another great spot for music), Bootys global street food, Pizza Dliscious and more!
