The Casita is a remote two bed one bath 1958 home located 20 mins from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA.

This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by open desert views, wildlife, and a starry sky.

Welcome to The Casita by The Joshua Tree House! This casita is an original homesteader nestled up next to boulders, which was built in 1958 and expanded on in later years. What makes the casita special are the over 900 acres of protected land around it that serve as a wildlife corridor to Joshua Tree National Park. You'll see many kinds of birds, antelope squirrels, lizards, cottontail rabbits, jack rabbits and maybe even a desert tortoise or a coyote!

The Casita is about a 12 minute drive into town, and 15 minutes to the nearest grocery store. If would you would prefer being walking distance to town, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree House

The Casita is outfitted with Casper mattresses, and bedding by SOL Organics

There are two bedrooms and one bathroom in the casita, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families.

We hope you love staying at the casita as much as we do!

Guest access
While you're staying here, the casita will be your private oasis. Feel free to explore the yard and the gardens. You can even hike out straight from the property onto government owned land. Also make sure to enjoy the Jacuzzi and the incredible views!

Other things to note
To get to the casita, you'll be driving on dirt roads for about 5 minutes. While four wheel drive is not required, we would suggest it!

The casita is down a private driveway with three houses. The casita is the pink one closest to the boulders. We also own the white hacienda next to the casita, and the other house are our neighbors. Please be respectful of their privacy and quiet desert retreat.

It is also possible that our vintage car, an International Harvester Scout may be parked at the Hacienda next door during your stay. While it's ok to take a photo with the car, please respect our personal property and space and PLEASE do not climb on or get inside of our car. (We're sorry this needs to be said, but sadly this did happen once).

Transient Occupancy Tax - A 7% TOT tax required by San Bernardino County is included in the nightly rate. For our area, Airbnb does not yet break this down as an extra line item, but rather is included in the base price.

Finally, the house is on a septic system, so PLEASE do not flush anything other than toilet paper. Thank you!

Ex-New Yorker, now living in Joshua Tree. Our family traveled the country for a year in our camper before falling in love with desert life and deciding to make JT our home. We hosted at our home in Kingston NY while we traveled and I discovered my love of hosting. I'm excited to host guests in the desert and to share my love of this area with others. I am also an herbalist and make herbal tinctures, plant medicine, wellness teas and soap in my desert studio. When we’re not in Joshua Tree you will find us traveling in our skoolie, mostly exploring the West.
