Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Located at the southern end of New River Gorge National Park, this river-view cabin is an ideal base for exploring one of West Virginia’s most iconic places. Set on five acres bordering the Greenbrier River, our guests enjoy river views, private river access and the comforts of a fully equipped cabin. Relax on the covered deck, follow the walking trail to the river or explore nearby state parks and historic Hinton. At this private cabin, you’re sure to find your happy place.

The space
The cabin’s compact, cozy 530-square-foot-interior is big on comfort while maximizing space to ensure you have the conveniences you expect for a longer stay—full kitchen (minus a dishwasher) and bath, pull-out dining table for four, laundry unit, living space, private bedroom and sleeping loft. Both sleeping quarters have queen beds. And the open loft, accessed by ladder-like steps, feels more like a secret hideaway, than simply a place to rest your head.

Extending your living space, the roomy covered deck offers a view of the river. It’s the ideal hang-out spot for your A.M. coffee routine, afternoon lunch break or game night gathering (board games and puzzles included). The odds are good you’ll spend more time tucked in an Adirondack chair than anywhere else! We have extra blankets to increase the cozy factor.

We love convenience as much as the next person, so we've equipped the cabin with lots of extras. The charcoal grill comes with everything you need to meal prep outdoors. The Keurig is more like a drink station with a variety of coffee and hot chocolate pods, tea packets, sugars and creamer. There's salt/pepper, foil, plastic wrap, baggies and an ice maker. There are plenty of paper products, laundry detergent and cleaning supplies. We have you covered on bug repellent... all natural and Deet. You've got Netflix for TV watching. A sound machine in both rooms—the tweeting birds are a favorite. And a tower fan in the loft for extra air flow.

OUTDOOR ACCESS
River adventurists and beach loungers will appreciate access to the Greenbrier River. Cross the single-lane road paralleling the cabin and follow the trail to your private island and the beach area. It can be your launch spot or take-out for a float or fishing trip, but note it’s about a 200-yard hike from the cabin to the beach. It might take a few trips if you have lots of gear.

And if you want to venture beyond the cabin, thousands of acres of public lands are at your fingertips—the southern end of the New River Gorge National Park, Bluestone and Pipestem state parks and Bluestone Lake are minutes away.

Despite the country setting, your retreat is located within ten minutes of town amenities. Grab a bite to eat at one of historic Hinton’s local dining spots, catch a movie at the Ritz Theatre or stock up on grocery supplies.

FOR RAILFANS
The railway runs parallel to the property, with train activity passing above the cabin. Train engineers blow the horn just beyond the cabin to alert traffic at a nearby crossing. If you’re outside, hold your ears! While train activity changes each day, the cabin affords a close-up view of railcars rolling by (when the leaves are off the trees).

Whether you seek adventure, relaxation or a bit of both, this river cabin is a comfy, cozy respite for your time in the Greenbrier Valley. It’s a place to reset… exactly what a vacation should be.

Guest access
Our guests have full access to the property, including the land and island below the paved road.

During the summer, the land fills in with underbrush; however, during the winter and spring much of it is accessible to explore. There are stone steps behind the cabin and a groomed trail (year-round) leading to the river.

The Greenbrier River is not dammed. The cabin is on high ground, but the land below the road floods on occasion, making it rugged and uneven. Take caution when the river is high. Never attempt to wade in swift, moving water.

Other things to note
ACCESSIBILITY
Our tiny cabin is not suited for young children or those with mobility impairments, due to the loft (accessed by a steep ladder) and uneven nature of the property.

EMERGENCIES
If an emergency arises, contact us immediately, but please know that we are about one hour away. For non-emergency needs, we will arrive within 24 hours but more often, within just a few hours.

RESOURCE GUIDE
In the cabin, we’ve included a detailed resource guide of operations to ensure your stay is a comfortable one. But please let us know if we’ve missed anything. And depending on your interests, we’ve included LOTS of ways to explore nearby amenities.

CHECK OUT
Our check out instructions include typical requests; however, there is no dishwasher. To help keep the cabin running smoothly, we ask that you wash any used dishes before departing.
