What a perfect weekend! We stayed on Sean's houseboat this past weekend and loved every second. From waking up in the morning to a view on the water, to sitting under the stars on the deck on top of the boat, to the muffins, fruit, coffee and milk that Sean had left for our breakfasts, to the friendly neighbors...we couldn't get enough of it in just two days! That's why we will definitely book again with Sean soon. We were so grateful for the home away from home and the chance to relax. Sean made sure we had everything we needed, even getting us a taxi's phone number in case we needed it. We would definitely recommend Sean's houseboat as a great way to spend some time relaxing. There is a bus right down the street (also a Dunkin' Donuts and Subway) that brings you to the subway to get downtown quickly. Thanks for everything, Sean! Can we give more than 5 stars???
A fantastic place to stay, and also a really welcoming property. Sean had made sure that we could get there without any hassle, and all the essentials and more were already there - after a long flight it is great to be able to just drop on to the sofa and put the kettle on.
The boat was clean, had all the facilities you could expect and more, and is well situated. The neighbours are friendly, there's a useful shop nearby, and a cinema, it's a short bus ride or a 10 minute walk to the Metro, you can walk down to Brighton Beach in maybe 10 minutes - seriously, a fantastic place for a couple to stay.
My family and I have stayed in over 10 apartments through AirBnB in South America and New York City and Sean has been one of the best hosts. We consider him the super host - he delivered clean sheets and towels every four days, had coffee and tea available in the apartment and checked on us to make sure we were comfortable. He had muffins, milk, orange juice, water and oranges in the fridge upon our arrival.
His houseboat was clean and had all the things we needed including two portable electric 'fireplace' heaters (we were there in early Spring), a bathroom with a toilet and a separate shower.
The neighbors were friendly as well. The houseboat is a short walk from the bus stop and close to restaurants and a movie theater.
Thanks Sean for a fantastic stay.
Sean's place is a good place to stay while visiting NY. It is tidy, clean and warm. Even though it is located on the bay and there was chill wind on the bay when I stayed there, it was warm inside the houseboat. From this place, I could easily find a bus stop in walking distance and there is subway station near this place that could be reached around 5 minutes by bus. I recommend this place to stay when you guys visiting NY.
Sean's Houseboat was A M A Z I N G . I felt like I was on a mini vacation not in Brooklyn . The decor of the boat inside is cozy, clean and beautiful. The deck is right off the bedroom, waking up to water, nice view was the best, very relaxing . Sean also had some groceries waiting for us which was awesome, saved a trip to the store. There also was a coffee maker , cable TV, and the boat was very warm and toasty which I didn't expect. Also his neighbors were great and are there if you need any assistance or questions. very helpful. I'm from Brooklyn so I was familiar with the area which is great , has lots of things to do. All in all I highly recommend this place , I would live there if I could. ^_^
We stayed in Sean Kelly's houseboat in south Brooklyn for a week. He made us feel so at home from the moment we walked in. There were groceries for us, a sweet Keurig coffee maker, it was comfy and had cable! It was our sanctuary from the holiday madness. When I told people we were staying in a houseboat they'd say isn't it going to be cold but no the houseboat was very warm!! We loved it! We'd love to stay again!! Thank you so much Sean for the amazing hospitality! The neighbors were so sweet too!
Very, very happy with the visit cannot recommend highly enough. The houseboat - we were there in winter and the place was warm and cosy. The place was also clean and tidy with a good array of the usual kitchen stuff toaster, crockery and cutlery, pots and pans. Out the front is a gas BBQ. Sean is an excellent host ..... if you are going to NYC and want somewhere to stay that is comfortable and within an easy commute of Manhattan (30 - 45 mins as an absolute max) you would be crazy to go anywhere else ! As a matter of fact - forget Manhattan - there is enough in Brooklyn to keep you interested. Vital to get a metcard ($30 for 5 days unlimited travel) as it works for all busses and met trains and maps are available at the train station - everything is easy to get quickly on arguably the best mass transit system on the planet ..... if I have the chance to get back to New York, I won't be staying anywhere else !
My friend and I stayed on Sean's houseboat and we had a ball! Rich and his lovely rescue dog Chance gave us a warm welcome and Sean kindly left us milk, fruit, tea, coffee and muffins for our breakfast. It was cute, it was cosy and it was all ours for the whole weekend. For the adventurous types who want to see more of New York than just Manhattan, this is a great place to stay. It is a bus ride away to Sheepshead Bay train station but the trip into Manhattan gives you great views of the bridges and the New York skyline. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for making us feel so welcome, guys!
We loved staying on the boat! Everything was very cozy, but not too tight. Great place to relax. Good food within walking distance. Public transit nearby. Smooth check-in & check-out. It was very windy the last night we were there and you could feel the boat rocking but it is very slight, you can feel it more in the living room of the boat than in the bedroom. We would stay here again for sure.
Cool place, calm surroundings, great with kids.
