We are in a historic neighborhood with homes built in the early 1900's. Centrally located in the city, it is an area with numerous restaurants just 3 blocks away.
Bus stops within 1 block.
Peg was great and accomodating. The space was lovely; very sunny and bright. (There are shades though if you're sleepy!) Gorgeous neighborhood next to a very cool park.
Peg is the best! We had a great time staying at the carriage house, and she was extremely responsive and accommodating. The location is perfect, the space was clean and she even has an awesome dog you can play with if you want (which we did).
I would definitely recommend this space, and we'll be checking to see if it's available the next time we're in Louisville!
Peg is a great host and I would highly recommend staying in her carriage house! It's the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway in lovely Louisville. The house is fairly new construction and was very clean and tidy. Two big couches, queen-sized bed, big flat-screen on the wall with HD cable, surround sound system, lots of natural light, nice clean bathroom, great shower, snacks/drinks in the kitchenette, working heat... what more could you ask for!
It was pretty cold and nasty when my wife and I were there so we couldn't take advantage of the proximity (maybe one block) to Cherokee Park, but we did enjoy the convenience to the Bardstown Rd. area (about three blocks away) which is full of shopping/dining/nightlife options. We are fairly familiar with the city, but we found the location convenient to pretty much anywhere we wanted to go. The surrounding neighborhood is also lovely, full of big historic-looking houses.
Peg and Stewart left us with our privacy, but were also extremely friendly and accommodating. Peg even offered up her house for better wireless reception, which was nice. Nellie (their dog) was really sweet and made the stay even more homey. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to all.
We absolutely loved our stay with Peg. Coordinating before arrival was extremely easy and Peg was quick to respond to any questions.
The carriage house is huge, it is very clean and newly furnished by a designer. In other words, it's picture perfect. The porch off the carriage house overlooks the beautifully landscaped garden. As you sip your morning coffee you can really take in how great this place is.
The location is a great compromise between a trendy urban area and complete countryside. The house abuts Cherokee Park, a mini Central Park, which is a must see. We rented bikes and cruised through. The main street, Bardstown Road is just three blocks away, and the action is right there - boutiques, restaurants and bars.
Thank you Peg, we loved your place and everything it had to offer. I will recommend it to everybody who is Loui bound!
Had a lovely stay. Peg could not have been a more gracious host. It was a perfect location for us since it was only a few doors away from our family, but even if you aren't familiar with Louisville, it is a wonderful way to become acquainted with the beauty that the city has to offer with it proximity to beautiful Cherokee Park and all the stores and restaurants on Bardstown Road. I'd recommend a stay here to anyone.
Peg was a gracious host & welcomed us into a well-done space. The carriage house's amenities were nice & comfortable, very spacious & clean. The neighborhood is beautiful. We were even greeted with a Kentucky classic - bottle of bourbon. :-) Peg didn't let us leave in the morning without giving us some snacks for the road. Great family. Would definitely stay there again.
This holiday marked our third year running in staying at Peg's carriage house. She continues to be the most gracious of hosts - making herself available if needed, but also offering privacy. As always, the flat is perfect. Well-appointed, comfortable, close to Cherokee Park and Bardstown Road. The Highlands in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Louisville, so if you're new to Louisville, Peg's place is a true find. I highly recommend a stay with Peg.
I can't wait to return to Peg's carriage house! She was the perfect hostess, keeping in touch with me prior to my arrival and answering all the questions I had. The carriage house was an ideal place to stay, so cozy and private. Peg left fruit, candy, snacks, and beverages for me - a great welcome. The Highlands is a beautiful area and to stay in a charming carriage house was a wonderful experience - close to beautiful Cherokee Park and the restaurants and shops of Bardstown Road. Peg's great dog Nellie awaits my return as eagerly as I do!
The Bonnycastle Carriage House was a very nice experience. Most times when visiting LUVULLE I stay at the Brown, but the FFA was in town and all reasonable hotels in the area were booked. I found AIRBNB by chance and was happy I did. Peg and Stuart were great hosts and the house was beautiful, quiet and extremely well appointed. Remodeled to the studs, as well as stocked with light snacks and beverages were nice touches. The neighborhood is fantastic, with great proximity to Bardstown road, a bevvy of great bars/restaurants and soft goods, an enormous park and some of L'Ville's most beautiful and safe neighborhoods. Although the cottage was set up as one room, my cohort and I were more than comfortable using the couches as a buffer and creating two semi private spaces to crash. Possibly the most understated part of the stay was the comfy porch off the front entrance which provided an ideal spot for a nightcap. I would highly recommend both the space and the hosts.
I really enjoyed my stay in Peg's Carriage House and she was a great host. It's a great area with lots of dining options and easy access to main roads. The parking space in the back is a tight squeeze if you have a bigger car/SUV. I would gladly stay there again.
