About this listing
Charming apartment in the heart of Trastevere , one of the most interesting neighbors of Rome.
This apartment is the ideal accommodation for a family of 4 people (2 adults + 2 children), looking for a central and safe accommodation. The unit has a fantastic location: it is on the first floor of a medieval building on Via della Scala, with a nice balcony on living area overlooking the Via della Scala itself.
The two day beds in the living area create a nice, comfortable and cheerful sitting area, with colored blankets and pillows. The blanket chest and the wooden cupboard give a countryside touch to this charming unit.
The dining table and chairs are located under the window allowing you to enjoy the morning sunshine while having breakfast.
The open kitchen is well equipped with a gas stove, oven, fridge, freezer and dish washer. When you are tired of eating out, the kitchen is there to make your Italian cooking experience all the more enjoyable.
The master bedroom, with a queen size bed, is on a cosy mezzanine, making it a safe location for the children. Wooden wardrobes complete the furniture of this pleasant room.
The bathroom, completely renovated, has a shower.
Around the corner you can find the best restaurants in Rome, many bars , pubs and supermarkets, as well as the beautiful piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere at only 2 min waliking.

We loved staying in Federico's apartment: spacious, nicely updated, with a great view and many amenities. Communication was very easy, and we're grateful that Federico was able to accommodate our request for an early check-in. Highly recommended.
Perfect location for late night scene and restaurants. Having a washing machine was nice, and the balcony was very nice to have. Definitely recommended!
The loft is in an absolutely amazing location, in a small square in the heart of Trastavere. Instead of cars, buses and insanity, you have narrow streets, great restaurants and nightlife. The loft has a great little balcony above a great restaurant, and although the area can get really lively at night, the loft is still quiet and private. Perfect location, perfect loft, everything was clean and convenient and we couldn't be happier with our stay. Laura and Federico were easy to get in touch with and check in and check out were no problems. Would absolutely stay again the next time we're in Rome. Gratzie!
Federico's apartment is great and very cosy, with a nice view on a place in the middle of Trastevere. By the way, the location is perfect. Indeed, Trastevere is according to me the best place to stay in Rome. There are a lot of nice little streets, restaurants and bars. It is great to walk there and have a few drinks after a long visiting day before going back to the apartment.
Another positive aspect about the location is the fact that almost all the well-known places and monuments are in walking distance. We never had to take the bus, taxi or metro (except from the airport). The organisation went really well as well, as we were welcomed in the apartment and received some useful indications upon our arrival. After this, we had the autonomy that we expected.
As a summary, I would definitely recommend this apartment, as we spent wonderful days in Rome, and the apartment contributed to it!!
I recently stayed in this lovely apartment with two friends and it was wonderful. The neighbourhood is a great way to enjoy the city and the place itself is bright, clean and near everything. Our host was quick to respond and check-in and check-out was easy.
We spent four weeks in the loft from mid-September to mid-October. It was definitely our "home away from home". The place is very large and well equipped for two people. The first day we got there, we ran the air-conditioner, washer (coming from Venice with a load of laundry...) and had a black-out. Federico's friend came over to help figuring out the electronic box which we located between two gates. Since then, we never run all appliances at the same time. We learned all the quirks of the place and came to be very fond of this loft we called home for four weeks. So I will pass the wisdom to all future tenants :-)
1) When the display says "err" on the instant hot water next to the window, just press "reset" and hold for a couple of seconds, or you may end up taking a cold shower.
2) When the WiFi is not working properly (very random), then unplug the WiFi device which is under the stairs, next to the TV. Replug and wait for a couple of minutes for it to work again.
3) Make sure you check the bottle on the balcony to empty the condensation from the air-conditioner every day that you turn on the a/c. Otherwise, the guy from the restaurant downstairs will throw a cork at the window!
The restaurant downstairs has wonderful food. They don't charge for bread or sitting fee. We sat inside to avoid smoke so I don't know if they charge sitting fee for outside seats. We ate there three times. Around the corner (turn right on Vicolo del Bologna) is the best pizza restaurant in Rome called Dar Poeta. Definitely try their pizza!
We had a marvelous time in Rome and just loved Trastevere! The closest decent market (Despar) is just across the Ponte Sisto bridge on Via del Pettinari. Continue on the road and you will see it on your left side.
You can walk to a lot of places from this loft. But there are buses you can catch around Ponte Sisto bridge & by Trastevere bridge that will take you further out. If you have a smart phone/computer, use google map and search public transportation from the loft to your destination. We found different bus routes that way.
Finally, the street is very loud at night. We knew this going there but were still surprised at how late the people party in Trastevere! We had to shut the shutter and turn on the air-conditioner to mask the noises outside.
All in all, this is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it!
A perfect location in Trastevere! Just around the block from Santa Maria basilica. A lovely view off the patio overlooking a small piazza. 2 great restaurants just downstairs, tobacco store 3 doors down to buy tram and bus tickets. 20-30 minute walk to all major attractions like the Vatican, Colosseum, Piazza Navona. It was nice to come back to our loft. There's so much character here! Dario met us at loft, gave us keys and sat down to explain the lay of the land of Roma. Federico was responsive to our inquiries and friendly! We will come back! Grazie Federico for a great stay!
