The Space

Beautiful house with lush garden and two fountains. Enjoy all the birds that frequent the garden early morning or late afternoon. Brightly painted 3 bedroom/ 2 bath artist home. Located in Colonia Linda Vista ( beautiful view ) at the crest of a hill with views of the city from the west. In a friendly Mexican neighborhood enjoy the local tiendas and thriving market at the bottom of the main street. Cabs and buses are available at the top of the hill and the local bus marked Santa Julia can be boarded on Umaran st. and Zacateros drops you at the top of our short street. There is a gym down the main street and you can sign up daily or weekly if inclined. This stay offers a unique experience of living in a Mexican neighborhood. Our wonderful handyman Enrique lives in a separate apt. on the property but has no access or window views to the main property. He is there to help you in any way and you can make arrangements with him for any kind of transportation. We can arrange maid service at an additional charge if requested. Please note that weekend charges are slightly higher.

  • This house is a true Gem in San Miguel de Allende. We booked this house to have a trip with our couples, but they decided to cancel and leave us the guys have a trip by our selfs, we really enjoyed the whole house, it has two patios, vegetation, fountains, lights at night, inside the house we found everything to make our stay very confortable. Even card games that were very useful because we had a storm one night and we decided to stay in, bought a few drinks, ordered hamburguesas right in front of the house. Great taste on the decoration. The rooms are spacious and well furnished. Enrique was so helpful and a great host. He even took us to the Central camionera wich is only a few blocks away. The city center is 10 minutes on a bus that charges only 40 cents, (cinco pesos) or a cab will do it for 35 pesos. (3 dollars) All of my friends loved it, I will recomend to take a cd with your favorite music, they have the sound system, buy everything you need for a CARNE ASADA en enjoy the house as if it was yours. Thank you for your kindness. I am already planing my next year vacation on this house. I want to think of this property as my home.

  • It is a gem indeed! The garden is an oasis where birds bathe in the two fountains. We ate oranges picked right from the tree. And the smell of lavender! The house is lovely with all its Mexican folk art. It is spacious and comfortable. January was cold in San Miguel this year, yet we never felt it in the house. We spent much time working on the patio basking in the sunshine.
Granted, the house is in a working-class neighbourhood where dogs bark, children play and firecrackers explode. But they are the sounds of Mexican life. Walking the 25 min. downtown was good exercise and we always felt safe walking back at night.
Enrique, the house manager, is fantastic. He is discreet, attentive and very patient with people trying their Spanish on him. Once he brought herbal tea from the market to ease a cough I had.
Gary has (email hidden) of San Miguel. He emailed us recommendations for concerts, art shows and restaurants. He was always prompt to answer any questions we had.
We loved our stay in this house that became our home for 6 weeks. We definitely recommend it to people who want to experience all aspects of San Miguel. Thanks Gary and Henrique!

  • The drive to house makes you wonder if you are headed to the right place. When we opened the front gate my mother likened it to the part in Wizard of Oz where it goes from black and white to color. The gardens were amazing and the house was amazing. The pictures are quite accurate.

The neighborhood is not central but it is an easy walk downhill to catch a cab and most cab drivers know the street calle Carolina. Calling a cab is a bit more difficult. The neighborhood seems a bit rough around the edges but once you get past the wandering dogs and potholes
and start walking around it is quite charming.

We didn't need much help from the on site management but it felt nice knowing if we needed anything he was there.

San Miguel is a sweet pueblo. I enjoyed my stay there but as a city girl who loves DF I did get a bit bored. But that's just me, my mom really enjoyed herself. :)

  • The house was very clean, beautifully decorated, and a short cab ride to the center. Enrique the property manager was very friendly and responsive. We would definitely stay here again and recommend doing so to our friends.

  • Wow, what a property, such a nice place, exactly what we needed for my family. My two nieces chose the room on top because of the TV; Layna and I took the master with the king size and my sister and my brother-in-law took the third bedroom. We made breakfast everyday and a couple of dinners, which is a great deal for a large family. SMA was unseasonably cold, so we will have to go back and try again during the summer.

Thanks so much to Gary and Katia, and special thanks to Enrique who was so kind to us making our stay even better. Highly recommended.

  • The place was great! Comfortable, and beautiful. Getting into downtown was very easy for its location. Gary was great arranging things for us, and Enrique was amazing at receiving us.

  • Seriously, this beats staying in an overpriced hotel any day. The house was gorgeous - great handicrafts decor details, including a vaulted ceiling in the bathroom! It's not in the most central area of San Miguel so this is best with a car, or the ability/desire to walk a ways before getting to the town center. However, it's totally worth it. Great manicured patio, wonderful furnishings, and overall a super nice space. We'll be recommending it to others and staying here again, as it's so relaxing to feel removed from the hubbub yet a 5 minute drive to all the action. HIGHLY recommend. Thanks Katia and Gary - congrats on the cool house.

  • Amazing place. I'm from Mexico and I have been to San Miguel de Allende several times and can definitely say that staying here just adds to the experience of this magical Mexican place. Enrique was super nice and very helpful. Me and my friends had a wonderful time, and I'm sure half of the photos from this trip were just from around this house.
