The ten hectare ground of Finca Pura Vida offers ample space to swim in the river, to take walks, to sunbathe or to simply relax. Here you can be the owner of your time and just be yourself. It´s a place with lot of good energie. The ideal location to pass wintertime.
At Finca Pura Vida there are no direct neighbours. If you feel like socialising, take a stroll to La Suiza and you will find that the Ticos, as the Costa Rican people call themselves, are very open-minded, friendly and laid-back people who will readily have a chat with you even if your Spanish is less than perfect. .
Explore the beauty of Finca Pura Vida by foot and enjoy spectacular views all around. There are so many paths to take – you will discover something new every day.
You should visit the volcanos Turrialba and Irazu which you can see from the finca. The Turrialba is active since a few yours so you should get information at the park-administration if the access is permitted.
National Park Tapantí:
Tapantí is located a few kilometers south of the Orosi Valley. Walking In the park you have the oportunity to see abundant tropical rain forest and with a bit luck some wildlife.
Costa Rica is well-known for its excellent rafting facilities. The rivers Pacuare and Reventazon – both close to Finca Pura Vida – rank among the top ten rafting rivers in the world.
Furthermore, you can have fun canyoning, you can go on guided walks or mountain bike trips or you can enjoy a day on the back of a horse. For a real adventure, try Canopy! It’s an exciting and novel way of seeing the rainforest. Hooked to a steel wire rope, you will fly from treetop to treetop and experience the rainforest from a bird’s eye view. If you have no head for heights, however, you better stay on the ground.
Guayabo National Monument
If you are interested in Costa Rican culture, go to see the Guayabo National Monument. At the foot of Turrialba volcano, approximately 20 km North East of Turrialba town, there is a archeological excavation site showing a pre-columbian settlement.
From Fica Pura Vida, take a day trip to the biggest National Forest in Costa Rica, to Parque Internacional de la Amistad. Here you will find Costa Rica’s highest mountain, Chirripo, and some aboriginal people reserves.
I spent two weeks at Finca Pura Vida in February 2013. It is a magic place - ideal for getting away from hectic every day life. Finca Pura Vida is very peaceful and quiet, the surroundings are beautiful and there is a lot to explore on the grounds of the Finca and in the vicinity. Karl is very welcoming and most helpful. The house is simply furnished but contains everything you need for a pleasant stay. We most enjoyed the huge roofed terrace and the occasional bath in the river. In the little village nearby, La Suiza, there are three small supermarkets, a fruit and vegetable store, a butcher and - last but not least - a very friendly place to drink and eat, Pocho's Bar. Even if you do not speak Spanish (I don't, unfortunately), you will have no problem getting around.I can recommend Finca Pura Vida to anyone who is looking for an peace and quiet and authentic Costa Rican lifestyle.
