Spacious Ranch-style 3/2 10 min North of Downtown

The Space

I have a great 70's ranch-style house (3/2, 2500 sq ft) in an nice neighborhood where I know the neighbors well. I've lived here for almost 12 years; and though my casa is less than 10 mins from Austin's very cool downtown scene, the house is my quiet and comfortable sanctuary.

I've retained the original feel of this house while updating it. All stainless steel kitchen with retro robins egg blue vinyl tile floors, white quartz stone counter tops and beautiful glass & marble mosaic tile back splash. The guest bath has just had brand new gorgeous dark green granite and chrome fixtures installed. There is a total of 3 bedrooms that will sleep 8 people comfortably. [ 3 queen sized beds and a 1 King sized bed in the MB. ] As one can see in the pictures, there is plenty of room to throw down a couple air mattresses, should needs arise.

There's always coffee flowing in the morning and usually I'll offer breakfast tacos at least one morning during your stay and on occasion, scones or whatever other magic I whip up. If you would like a more formal or scheduled breakfast I'm able and willing to cook up just about anything for a small fee.

My home is approximately 7 miles (10 mins) NE of downtown, in a quiet & safe residential neighborhood. There are bus stops less than a mile away, the nearest light rail station is just 2.5 miles and there is a grocer within walking distance.

Please see other listings if you are interested in just one or two of the guest rooms ~ I let them individually almost year round. Though the whole house only comes available for special circumstances, please feel free to ask about a time that you' d like if even if the calendar indicates unavailable.

There are 2 Capital metro bus lines are within a block from the house. The light rail station that goes downtown is approximately 3 miles away and I'm happy to shuttle if requested.

  • We had a great stay at John's house this past weekend. Booked very last minute, but John was very agreeable, accommodating, and communicative. He even made us blueberry scones! We saw him some, but we mostly went our own ways- we were in town for a family wedding, so were very busy with that.

The house was as we expected, plenty of space for us, clean and comfortable. The location was convenient to the freeway, but there was some freeway noise at night (but we're in the city, so city noises are to be expected!). The back yard had a comfortable deck and hammock, and his cute dogs were so quiet, we didn't even know they were there until day 3!

I would definitely recommend staying at John's house.

  • Our group (8 people) spent the weekend the Formula 1 racing at John's Ranch if we do have a good time. The place was as described. Comfy beds and a clean space. We spent most our time at the event but we all have a restful night. John was a nice host ready to help, chat, our give directions is needed. We look forward to stay at his place in future trip to Austin.

  • Our stay, overall, was good. John was a GREAT host. He was accomadating and punctual. His kitchen was equipped for use. We couldnt get the tv to work but there was a beautiful yard and the place was very spacious!

University Of Texas - Austin (Biochemistry & Economics)
What you 'see' is but a wee filament in the tapestry of Me. Though a true Austinite (born here while my folks completed their graduate studies) I grew up abroad - in Saudi Arabia. The overseas experience and extensive travels through Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East during those formative years have developed within me an interest for exploring and meeting new people. I returned to Austin in the early 80's to complete my 'formal' education at the University of Texas and I now work in Environmental Affairs in addition to restoring vintage camper trailers - when i finished the house remodel, I had to do something! Other pass times include camping, cycling, gardening & volunteering for random community activities. I am a tirelessly persistent & lustfully compassionate Master of Rowdy Bliss!! I'm one who is fiercely tender, ironically sincere, scrupulously curious, lyrically logical and aggressively sensitive. I am on the prowl...searching within, seeking without.... May your moccasins always find happy trails
