The space

This is my primary residence, so please treat it as if it were your own. A completely renovated 70's ranch-style house (3/2, ~2500 sq ft) in a laid back neighborhood where I know the neighbors well. and though it is only 10 min from Austin's bustling downtown scene, the house is my quiet and comfortable sanctuary.
I've retained the open, ranch-style feel of this house while updating it. All stainless steel kitchen with retro robins egg blue vinyl tile floors, white quartz stone counter tops and beautiful glass & marble mosaic tile back splash. The guest bath has been updated with dark green granite and accented with chrome fixtures.
There are bus stops within a block, the nearest light rail station is just 2.5 miles and there is a grocer within walking distance.
In the past, interaction with the guests have ranged from just meeting/welcoming them to nights out on the town... really depends on the guest's desires.

Quiet and secure neighborhood with easy access to 3 of the 4 main traffic veins in Austin.
As noted, I am a dog lover and owner. During your stay, you may see Samson & Delilah- my 2 rescue mixed breeds ( Blue Healer/ Black Lab / & Bisinge ? . They're very people friendly , if not over friendly; however they can be territorial towards other dogs (it is after all their house:) they'll stay in the side yard [dog yard] and the garage. My work often requires me to travel, but If I'm in town during your visit, I may be be residing in a restored vintage camper trailer located in the dog yard. To be clear, if you reserve the house, all but the garage and the camper trailer is available to you.

The neighborhood

Quiet and secure neighborhood with easy access to 3 of the 4 main traffic veins in Austin. A five minute walk will bring you to a small 'mercado' ; a larger grocery store is less than a mile away.
Next to the mercado is China Express for eat in or delivery food and couple blocks farther there is a Mexican food restaurant. Also, a 5min walk will bring you to a Walmart super¿ center.

Getting around

There are 2 Capital metro bus lines are within a block from the house. The light rail station that goes downtown is approximately 3 miles away and if I'm around, I'd be happy to shuttle if requested.

Cleaning: Simple things like leaving the property tidy, running the dishwasher, starting to wash the towels, and taking out the trash are expected of our guests.
Travel Insurance is highly recommended for any stay.
We hope that you will be courteous and clean. We ask that you smoke only outside, we have a very comfortable sitting area on the deck and if the weather is bad, a nice area on the back porch. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen as long as you clean up after yourselves; and of course, if you bring pets (which are usually acceptable) you clean up after them as well . Guests may use our laundry room and facilities if the need arises. We are really very flexible and open minded, but ask that only paying guests stay the night, unless we make other arrangements.

Though a true Austinite (born here while my folks completed their graduate studies) I grew up in the middle east. The overseas experience and extensive travels through Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East during those formative years have developed within me an interest for exploring and meeting new people. I returned to Austin in the 80's to complete my 'formal' education at the University of Texas and I now work in Environmental Affairs in addition to restoring vintage camper trailers,
