About this listing

The space

The holiday home “le 3 rose” is at the foot of the ancient village of Montecastelli and placed at the peak of the valley as if suspended in air, offers an exceptional view with an infinite extension of the Tuscan countryside.

Here in Montecastelli away from noise pollution material and spiritual is ideal to take long walks and cycling along the above roads and country lanes to discover the ancient mines of Montecastelli and the famous fortress called Rocca Sillana that dominates the whole Tuscany, or go to bathe in pure water sources of rivers Cecina and Pavone.

Here we are in a central position with respect to all the art cities of Tuscany as Siena, Florence, Pisa, Arezzo, Lucca, Volterra, San Gimignano and about 45 minutes to the sea.

The house consists of 2 ground floor apartments of about 70 square meters with doors to the garden with table chairs and loungers.

The apartment has a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom with shower and loft with 2 single beds and a sofa bed.

We really enjoyed our stay at Vittorias and Aldos house! The surrounding area and the view from the balcony are breath taking and Vittoria and Aldo, who live next door were very welcoming and helpful. It is probably more convenient to come to the village Montecastelli with your own car. I don´t know if there are buses going, but I assume that it wouldn´t be very often per day. Because the village is so small, you will have a very quiet, relaxing holiday and if I understood right, Vittoria and Aldo are planning to build a pool in the garden. So that was the only thing we were missing a bit, but if you have a car, you can also go to the coast (about 1 hour away, because the way is hilly).

We were welcomed by Vittoria and Aldo, who were very sweet, and made us feel very welcome. The house is situated on a mountain. From where you have a beautiful wide view over the entire area. It was breathtaking. And to see that every day, was amazing! During the night, thousands of stars in the sky above us. Which we could even see through the big bedroom window, while lying in bed.The location is perfect . 50 minutes from the sea, 45 minutes from Volterra. 1 hour from Sienna, and 1,5 hrs from Florence…A perfect location. We planned on staying 1 week, but eventually we stayed 2 weeks! A lovely place. Very well taken care of. Very clean, and in a very good shape. Since there was only 2 of us we only used the ground floor, but there was plenty of room for the kids too. That will be for next year… Thank you Sergio and Vittoria and Aldo, for a lovely holiday!

Fantastic views in one of the most authentic Tuscan areas in Italy. The village sits at the edge of a small Tuscan village at the top of a mountain. The location was central to accessing many attractions in Tuscany (Voltera, Florence, San Gimignano, the beach, Pisa). However, the village is very removed and in some cases it took us 15 to 20 minutes of driving narrow roads to get to major roads and then however much longer to get to where we needed to go. The village also does not have any restaurants nor grocery store. So plan ahead during your outings. The apartment was very clean and ideal for five people. It could easily accommodate one or two more people even. The unit does not have AC which is fine for the bottom floor but the mezzanine does get hot. Also, not all units have a balcony; the one we stayed in just had two windows to enjoy the view. I would definitely recommend you request the units with the balcony, because we felt a little shortchanged. Also, there is no internet as mentioned in the house add. Overall great stay for a great price. If you read the reviews carefully you can manage your expectations before you arrive so that you have a great stay.

If you are seeking quintessential Tuscany, solitude, great value and want to be 40-60 mins away from Siena, St Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, etc - this is the place to stay! We are the family of 4 (kids are 5 and 9) and were looking for a base in Tuscany for a week. The apartment (beautiful and incredibly clean) has 2 levels (bedroom for parents, 2nd floor - for kids), dining area, kitchen, spacious bathroom with a shower (all new). View is absolutely astonishing: rolling fields, higher hills on the horizon, NO cars AT ALL. Kids were spending 20mins every night enjoying the ski full of stars. There are no shops or restaurants in Montecastello itself, but within 10-15mins you'll find both (we were buying our breakfast food every evening in whatever city we were spending that day). The week we spent in Tuscany was VERY hot, but, despite having no AC, we felt rather comfortable at night in the house (slept with open windows). Sergio's parents are INCREDIBLY hospitable!!! They greeted us upon arrival, showered with kisses and cookies for kids, told all technicalities and local attractions and left (they live nearby). They do not speak English, we do not speak Italian, but somehow we all understood each other perfectly :) In the end we felt as if we've just visited our grandparents. So, in summary, if you need a base in Tuscany - this is the place to stay!

The house is great!!! Very confortable and with a great view, just like the pictures. It was very clean as well, and had everything you need for a relaxing time in tuscany. The location is also very good, we visited Siena, San Giminiano and Firenze from the house. The host parents welcomed us and were very kind and friendly. I would definetly recomend this house

This place is a gem. We were knocked over by the magnificent view and the spacious, extremely clean house. The owner's mother & father, Vittoria and Aldo, embraced us on arrival and, though they didn't speak English, told us all about the property and made sure we knew they were nearby. There is fantastic hiking right from the door (read your maps carefully!) and easy access to Volterra in about 45 minutes of beautiful driving. There are no restaurants or markets in the village, which is very rural and undeveloped. Make sure you get your groceries before you arrive. Good kitchen, large bathroom, king sized bedroom and huge loft for another couple or some kids. Very highly recommended.

Grazie mille a Vittoria, Aldo e Sergio per la loro cortesia e benevolenza. La casa era magnifica. La regione è mervigliosa.
