Interaction with Guests
Stephen and I are very social and we love meeting people from all over the world. We let our guests be at ease with how much they want to socialize with us. If a guest wants to do their own thing and only have a few passing words, that's fine. If a guest wants to sit in our sitting room by the fire and have a good conversation, that's fine too. Either way, Stephen and I are always here to answer questions and make sure everything is ok.
We are situated on the Slea Head Drive which is considered the "mini Ring of Kerry". We are within walking distance to several beaches, hiking trails and mountains. And, we're surrounded by beautiful landscape.
There is no public transportation to our house. We are 8kms west of Dingle town. There are several buses to Dingle and from there we can pick you up (10 euros) or you can take a taxi, or rent a bike.
Other Things to Note
We have WiFi available in all the rooms.
The kitchen is available for self-catering for guests staying more than two nights. Washer is available at 5 euros a load. The dryer can only be used if it is impossible to dry clothes outside on the line or by the fireplace. Use of the dryer will cost 5 euros a load. Pick up service to and from Dingle will cost 10 euros.
Linda has a clean, bright home just a few miles outside Dingle on the Slea head circuit that is convenient to several historic sites and smaller villages with atmospheric pubs. She is a very outgoing host with many helpful suggestions for exploring the area. Breakfast was great.
Beautiful location on Slea Head Drive. We were treated to a nice breakfast and Linda's husband helped us with our travel plans. Good value for location.
Linda gave us a great welcome and was very informative and friendly to us throughout our stay. Her breakfast was delicious and the house was ideally located for our trip to the Blasket Islands. We were disappointed however that the room was damp and had some black damp stains on the blinds and we did not feel like our en-suite bathroom was properly cleaned. I mentioned this to Linda however and she assured me she would sort it out for future guests
What a wonderful treat it was to stay with Linda and Stephen. Their home was warm and inviting. They were present in all ways; we shared lovely conversation with our hosts and the other guests after returning from our full days. Breakfast was a delight with an assortment of options. The bed was comfy, the bathroom big. This area of a Dingle is a bit quieter than downtown but is a positioned so that you can take the sea drive as easily as you can get to town. Our only complaint is that we booked too few days. Stay at least 3 nights, more if you can. This was a gem.
I felt completely at home as soon as I stepped in the door of Linda and Stephen's beautiful, cosy home. Stephen welcomed me with a cup of tea, and we were soon chatting about the local spots to listen to and play trad music, and where I should visit along the Slea Head Drive.
The house is just as described - very homely, clean and comfortable, and is a perfect distance (10-minute drive) from Dingle to feel like you are getting away from the busyness of the town while being close enough to just pop into the town if you feel like it. There are beautiful walks within walking distance of the house, and the village of Ballyferriter (a 20-30 minute walk) has lots to offer in terms of pubs with trad music, pottery workshops, cafes and a little museum.
What I enjoyed most about my trip as well as the drives and walks around the beautiful Dingle peninsula, was Stephen and Linda's hospitality. I stayed in most evenings and we chatted about everything under the sun - from self-sufficient lifestyles to the similarities and differences between Portuguese/Irish/Scottish/American cultures to the best spots and festivals in Ireland for trad music. Stephen helped me get started with learning to play trad fiddle, and I had the pleasure on several occasions of hearing Linda and Stephen singing and playing. Linda also gave me a lovely ayurvedic massage which I would highly recommend if you are staying there and would like to feel even more relaxed!
Linda's breakfasts (different every day!) were delicious! She caters for all tastes and uses only the best ingredients - greens straight from the garden, or eggs from Michael down the road.
After the 5 days/nights staying with Linda and Stephen I felt truly reenergised, rejuvenated and thoroughly relaxed. I'd highly recommend it as a place to go for a personal retreat. Linda and Stephen are very interesting, generous and welcoming hosts, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any travelers visiting Dingle to stay with them.
Linda and Stevie's place ideally situated for touring Dingle peninsula and we had great views over rural and seaside to the bay. Stevie cooks a great breakfast and we enjoyed our stay.
everything was top notch
