This neighborhood is very convenient. It's close to dinning, shopping, entertainment, parks and touristy activities, with the added advantage of being in a quiet residential block dotted with victorians and craftsman houses. If you decide to leave you car at home, you can manage fine here. There are many restaurants within a 10-15min walk from house, including coffee shops and other shopping. The Safeway super market is about 4 blocks away and Rite Aid pharmacy is 6 blocks away. The house is three blocks from the light station which is an easy link to the downtown Amtrak Station. Bicycling is also an easy way to get around since Sacramento is pretty much flat.
Also, I typically request a 2 night minimum, but if you see a gap on the calendar and need the place for one night please ask and I will see if I can accommodate you.

There are few house rules, mostly regarding the kitchen. The stove is induction and is easily operable by using the touch screen to increase or decrease the temperature. We have pots that work with induction range top in the pot rack over the clothe washer. The oven is normal electric oven. The water from the fridge is filtered. The clothes washer and dish washer take eco-friendly soap and they take half the amount indicated on the box, there is scooper with a mark to show you how much. Both are high water efficiency models and work with less soap or they tend to gum up the machines. The temperature of the house is automatically regulated. In the winter I keep the house at 70 degrees and in the summer at 68 degrees. If you're uncomfortable with the temperature, it can be raised or lowered, but I ask that you keep the environment and the energy bills in mind if you do that. If you do change the temperature, return it to normal before heading out for the day etc. And try to keep the front and back doors shut to conserve energy. No loud music or noise after 10:00pm since it's a quiet residential neighborhood and I want to respect my neighbors. If you want loud entertainment, there's plenty 3 blocks away. We compost at the house, and all veggie/fruit kitchen scraps can be placed in compost bin under the sink. The kitchen trash is also located under the sink and recycle waste container is next to the dryer. When you check-in I can go over the TV and internet access.
Registered guests only, please. No overnight visitors, parties, etc., without prior Owner approval.
Charming, comfortable and by far one of the best places I have stayed. The garden was such a peaceful place to sit in the morning and evening - the chickens a joy to listen to in the background rustling and clucking.
All of that plus a fantastic location that was walkable to great food and good for a morning stroll.
Raymond is also very charming and helpful.....particularly with restaurant recommendations!
See you again soon!
This Little house was perfect for our family girls weekend. So cute. And great location. Everything we needed was there. Well furnished kitchen. The back porch and yard was charming and having chickens clucking back there was great. Also having fresh eggs each morning was a special treat. The bathroom is wonderful, loved the shower. Highly recommended.
This place was terrific. Older place with lots of charm and every amenity: nice kitchen, great shower, pleasant living room (with TV and such), spacious bedrooms, and a _great_ patio. He was very responsive on short notice, and provided all the information I needed. I would stay again anytime. Neighborhood is perfect; I walked to every meeting downtown, and there are bars/restaurants on R street about 5 to 7 minutes on foot. Terrific. Easy checkin/checkout, great instructions, good interaction.
My family and I had an amazing stay at Raymond's fabulous home! My 1,5 year old daughter loved feeding the chickens and looking for eggs every day. There is a beautiful garden and a very peaceful patio. The home itself is adorable, clean and comfortable! Raymond was everytime available, also when we close the garden door and forget the key inside, he tries to help us:) If we come again to Sacramento we only want to stay there. Thank you very much Raymond!
Raymond's home was a relaxing home away from home when we were touristing through Sacramento. Raymond was the perfect host, welcoming us into his home, suggesting restaurants and, best of all, giving us fresh eggs for our breakfast. There were lots of unexpected goodies in the fridge, including milk and juice. His home is comfortable and every need has been anticipated. The kitchen is well equipped with every appliance and gadget that a traveller could need. There is a delightful back garden complete with hens (the source of those lovely, fresh eggs) and a magnificent vegetable garden, The neighbourhood is quiet and within easy walking distance of The Capitol, light rail and shops such as Safeways. We were delighted to have found Raymond's house and recommend it to others.
Raymond was flexible and easy to communicate with regarding changes ahead of time. He was very great with responding and helping with troubleshooting via text and AirBnB messages. I love had he had the house stock with real home house items for us to use before we got a chance to head to the local supermarket.
My family and I had an amazing stay at Raymond's sweet home! My 4 year old loved feeding the chickens and looking for eggs each day. He has a beautiful onsite garden and a very peaceful patio.
The home itself is adorable, clean, comfortable and within walking distance of the convention center & the Capitol.
It was a homey stay away from home! Thank you!
About the Host, Raymond
Hi, my name is Raymond and this is my home and I share it with my partner. I manage the rental house and the garden. I have lived is sunny Sacramento for 10 years. I am originally from New Jersey, and lived in New York City for long time before relocating to California. I grew up in a multi-lingual family and I speak Spanish and Portuguese in addition to English. I also understand a little bit of Italian, I am the son of an Italian father and Argentine mother. I enjoy meeting people from other part of the USA and the world, and look forward to sharing my home with visitors on their journey.
I, myself, love to travel and try to go abroad at least once a year. I am very familiar with Latin America and Southern Europe. From traveling and staying in family run accommodations I have learned some insight on what makes travelers comfortable and try to provide that here.
I am an urban planner and designer by practice and training, and consult on urban planning issues in the Sacramento area. I love art, music and the physical city, including buildings and gardens, from the small to the monumental. I also enjoy nature and try to take advantage of all the wonderful beauty that California has to offer. The house tries to honer the environment and has many non-toxic and environmentally friendly features, when possible. The garden also strives to be organic, with no chemicals and many permaculture techniques. The chickens are mostly organic, minus the weekly dose of old scones from a local cafe. There's always a surplus of eggs here, and fresh eggs for breakfast is one of the perks of this Garden Cottage. If you stay, you may run into my mom Eunice who tends the Garden. She's turning 80 this year, and she's a certified jokester, and always enjoys meeting new people.
