We spent 1 week in Rome in April at Sergio's apartment. The location of this apartment is nothing but excellent, we walked everywhere and if you did not want to walk there is a taxi stand 2 minutes from the front door. Sergio was an good host who was helpful and quick to respond to emails and requests both before the rental began and when we were in Rome. The restaurants, bars & cafes around the apartment are both local and touristy, so there is something for everyone. The apartment is spacious (for a 2 b/room), clean but old, the bathroom in particular we felt was a little out-dated and it could probably do with a renovation (the hot water was sometimes a problem). The little extras Sergio offers like expresso machine, free wifi, car service, clothes washing facilities were very much appreciated and all worked well.
This apartment is lovely, and is in close proximity to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. We generally had a lovely stay there, but had a few problems due to language barriers. For starters, you should know that "washer" means dishwasher, not clothes washer. Breakfast means Christmas cake, tea and coffee. The very worst event happened when we became locked out of the apartment on the very first night there... Christmas Eve... all because Sergio told us to put one key in the back of the door while we put the other key in the front of the door. This engaged the deadbolt so that nobody could get in through the door. All told, this cost us an extra $150 (he and his buddy Luca originally wanted $450!!!). We later found that there was another patio door that someone could have climbed into that not only wasn't locked, but the whole latch/lock had been painted closed! We never felt safe our entire stay due to this. Unfortunately, this has left our family with some very bad memories of Rome... too many gypsies, pick-pockets and people trying to rip you off! Buyer beware!!!
A lovely well-equiped flat in a good location. The bedrooms were nice and quiet, with comfortable beds. The kitchen had everything necessary to cook. It was great to have the coffee machine in the flat. Sergio was very quick to respond to messages and made my first airbnb experience a good one.
Casa molto bella e in una zona centralissima, perfetta per visitare il centro storico di Roma. Sergio è stato sempre molto disponibile nell'assecondare le nostre esigenze. Consigliato.
This apartment is great! From the pictures it's difficult to tell how HUGE it is! The rooms are massive, and the ceiling is very high. It looks better in person than in the pictures. The location is perfect - just outside Piazza Navona and within walking distance to all the major sights. It's located on the 1st floor (2nd for the American standard), so you won't have to suffer with carrying suitcases up the stairs for many floors. And despite the lack of air conditioning, I guess the stone construction makes the place naturally cool - it was scorching hot outside, but as soon as you enter the building you feel that nice breeze of cool air. Perfect! But the real highlight here was the host. I've used airbnb 12 times as of this writing and Sergio has been by far the nicest and friendliest host I've ever had! Even though his English is not the best, we still managed to communicate and laugh using a mixture of broken Italian and broken English. He gave us a lot of nice tips about Rome, the neighborhood, restaurants, etc.
The only drawback is that contrary to what is indicated in the listing, the street is quite noisy at night. BUT pretty much everywhere is the old Roman city centre is very noisy at night. The whole region is very bohemian and there are literally thousands of restaurants lining the streets and hordes of people stumbling home everywhere you go at night in Rome. So I guess it's impossible to escape the noise if you want to stay near the places everyone wants to go. All in all, I would say this was a tremendously positive experience and I definitely recommend staying at Sergio's apartment!
Alles in allem fünf Sterne!
Nice and big apartment (110m2), very centrally located 30m away from Piazza Navona. Everything was clean and has ben recently renovated. Sergio was helpful with everything we needed and we had a very good stay in Rome.
The + : large rooms, high ceilings, fully equipped kitchen, linen & towels, washing machine, sleeping in a real palazzo.
The only minor drawback is that like most palazzo in small streets, you don't get a lot of light in the evening and aside from the fans, it can be a bit hot. We had a great stay (5 people) nonetheless.
Sergio e stato gentilissimo, e sommamente attento. Una persona molto raccomandabile !. E por, la casa ( incredibile) si trova in Piazza Navona !! =)
