Interaction with Guests
it is lovely being able to chat with my guests, and find out a little about you and your travels, but I also respect it is your holiday, and quite often we just want to enjoy a little peace.
Edge Hill is quiet and close to the Tanks Arts Centre, and a 10 minute drive into town. There is a large supermarket and chemist less than 2 kms away, and a small grocer, bottle shop, killer shoe shop and 3 excellent cafes within walking distance.
There is also a local bus that runs regularly into the centre of Cairns.
From Sep 1 - Nov 30, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
As soon as I entered the property knew I had made the right decision booking the granny flat. The accommodation is beautiful, very welcoming and homely. I'm travelling alone and I like to treat myself to the odd stay somewhere that isn't the YHA or backpackers place. I definitely spent my money wisely here! The bed is exceptionally comfortable, I loved the Ipod docking station and the DVD collection kept me more than entertained in the evenings. Trisha is working during the day which means I had the wonderful pool to myself, the real joy of it is that it's not overlooked at all.
This place is the reason I love Airbnb, quality places to stay with home comforts and welcoming hosts. Trisha let me check in early and leave a little later to suit my plans, I really appreciated that.
It was good to meet her and Teddy and to be able to spend sometime having a girlie chat.
Many thanks Trisha you are a top quality host. I hope to be back soon.
The flat was just as described and suited our needs as well. The bed was comfy, but the futon/couch was not. We only saw Trisha twice during our stay, as we both kept ourselves busy. The flat is in a great location for easy access to the Captain Cook highway as well as the airport and downtown Cairns. We did find a different supermarket and a McDonalds very close by just going over the traffic circle that leads to the flat. This supermarket was so much easier then using any of the ones in town, due to the parking situation in Cairns.
The flat has a great layout, with everything you need in one space. The swimming pool was great as the weather was very humid and hot most of the days we were there. The laundry access is a real plus and enabled us to keep our suitcases under the 50 pound weight limit. The area is a dead end street, so traffic noise wasn't a factor. The only real problem i had was parking my car-there are palm leaves in the way which make is very difficult not only to park the car, but to get out of the car as well. All in all we had a great time at the Granny flat and in Queensland-would stay again in a heartbeat!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Edge Hill granny flat. Trish was the perfect host-easy to chat with, considerate, and knowledgeable. Edge Hill has great restaurants and shops. It's a short taxi ride to the airport and CBD. Trish provides bikes and it's an easy ride to the Esplanade. There are busses close by as well. Loads of tourist info provided for those visiting the reef and/or rain forests. A perfect place to stay.
The photos do not do justice to the beautiful oasis Trisha has created here for her guests. Her suburban home has the feel of a tropical resort. We had unlimited access to her pool area and felt comfortable being there. The large bed sitter was comfortably furnished. We used the overhead fan and the pedestal fan supplied and although it was hot and steamy didn't need the aircon. Basic kitchen but we had a couple of fresh salads , toast etc . Large fridge . My wife loved the dressing room where we could unpack and hang our clothes and get our luggage out of sight . Huge shower too. Everything was spotless and the tiled floor was polished like a mirror ...fantastic . We arrived into Cairns early with lots of luggage , rang Trisha , and as it was convenient for her, she allowed us early entry. We unpacked , had a shower, and were gone again. The bus to central Cairns is at the end of her street but it only runs every hour . We found the buses were excellent if you worked to their timetable . Botanical gardens are a short bus trip away, maybe walking distance if you're younger then us !!!lol. Good cafes and smart bistros nearby . We left Trisha to travel further north and were sad to say goodbye . We made a real connection with her and we'll be back one day. Little Teddy, her cute little dog was our best friend from the start, a lovely little mop top with a bubbly personality. Trisha's Airbnb is highly recommended by us , a true Airbnb where the owner is present . Too many we use are just commercial operations hiding behind a tenant, often a bacpacker, making extra money for an absentee landlord !
Trish's place was neat and tidy as in the pictures. A nice location with a lovely pool in the sunny back yard.
The kitchenette Is sufficient to make tea or coffee and cut up fruit veggies too. the surroundings make access to nice cafés and resteraunts easy by bikes (provided by Trish) and the botanical gardens are a must see in the area too!
Thanks for the great stay!
