Great accomodations at the sunset house with close proximity to the west park entrance. Antonio was such a gracious host with an AMAZING record collection to unwind with after a long day in the desert. Hope to take a tour of sacred Native American sites with Antonio in the future.
Antonio was a gracious host and the house was perfect for the trip. I would certainly stay here again for trips to Joshua Tree
The listing description was accurate, but it is a no-frills kind of place. When you stay here, do make sure you bring your own shower items (shampoo, conditioner, etc). We were able to find hand soap for the bathrooms after searching around the cupboards a bit. The house comfortably sleeps 4, as there is one queen and one king bed. There is a sectional-type sofa in the living room (not pictured in online photo album) where one or two others could sleep, but honestly I feel that 8 people would be quite crowded in the house (we had 5 people one night and 4 the other nights and it was comfortable). Antonio was very readily available via text and email, and very helpful. His record collection was fantastic, and there is plenty of outdoor space to relax playing cards or sitting by the fire. It is very close to Joshua Tree National Park, and also to stores should you need anything last-minute. We had a nice, rustic few days here.
This is a funky place with a fabulous host. Go here, because Antonio is a very unusual and knowledgeable host who knows the indigenous fabric of this place. He describes his home accurately, all what you need is here, but it is not the Ritz. This home is about him sharing his wisdom and heart with others.
Great location. Spacious house. If it was warmer I would have taken more advantage of the yard. Thanks Antonio.
Antonio’s house is spacious and located near beautiful Joshua Tree National Park. The view from the patio is lovely. Antonio was a gracious and helpful host. The house is well supplied, and the vinyl collection was a treat to explore. The house is in process of being updated, and not all parts are complete. The living area needed better seating to be comfortable, and the beds sagged. The dishwasher did not work. The house is very kid friendly.
The Sunset House was so welcoming and wonderful. We enjoyed a great view of the sunset. The house is in close proximity to Joshua Tree National Park, making it very accessible. We really enjoyed our stay.
About the Host, Antonio
We love the desert and have spent years exploring, writing and filming in the Southwest. When not hanging out with my beautiful kids, I spend time volunteering, working with elders, kids and Native American (website hidden), music, and the outdoors are about my favorite things. I also offer guided spiritual retreats and environmental education outdoors experiences through Casa de Culturas our in-house cultural center. Hope to see you soon!
