Even though it is located in one of the most energized cities in the world, this New York brownstone is natural haven.
It has three gorgeous and light filled floors looking onto ecologically landscaped gardens and water features. The roof deck boasts 360 views of the city and is shaded by a pergola and surrounded by a green roof. In the front you access the house via a bridge over a natural water feature with native fish and turtles. In the back there is a glass deck overlooking a large ecologically landscaped garden with a natural swimming pool - bring your bathing suit!
Inside the house are all reclaimed antique wood floors, clay walls, and large bright sunny rooms. The design is spacious and modern using natural high quality finishes. In the winter it is kept cozy with radiant floors and in the summer it stais cool with intelligent solar design. There are a luxurious 1,800 square feet in total, which is massive by NY standards!
With five bedrooms and a pull out couch there is plenty of private space off the very large common living areas. Three bathrooms, a large soaking tub and a glass walled steam shower provide all the pampering you need. And if that isn't enough you get free yoga and massive discounts at our yoga studio and spa around the corner.
And if you need even more room we offer a two bedroom two bath duplex in the same brownstone with a fully equipped kitchen, living room and back porch.
The Heart of NYC is only a bike ride away!
The neighborhood has award winning restaurants, boutiques, bike rentals, kayaking, pools, all within blocks.
Vive Le Carroll Gardens! New York Magazine just rated Carroll Gardens in top 10 areas to live/work/play in NYC!!
The Brownstone Brooklyn neighborhood that was once an Italian stronghold is quickly becoming the city's Little Paris - fueled by a new French program at a local public school.
Neighborhood playgrounds have recently filled up with French-speaking tots - making it easier these days to find croissants than cannoli on Court St., where merchants have seen a surge in French families looking for favorite products from home.
French government officials estimate there are as many as 20,000 French residents in Brooklyn, more than in Manhattan, with the largest concentration in Carroll Gardens. Butcher John McFadden, whose family owns Staubitz Meat Market, has seen a surge in demand for French-style racks of lamb, boeuf bourguignon and filet mignon. 'It's doubled, tripled, recently,' McFadden said. 'It's good for us.'
Carroll Gardens' other main strip, Smith St., has become so French that restaurant owners launched a Bastille Day celebration. 'If you come to my restaurant on Saturday or Sunday, everyone is speaking French,' said Jean-Jacques Bernat, whose postcard-perfect French bistro on Smith St., Provence en Boite, has begun stocking special candies and other goodies, especially for the nabe's growing numbers of homesick expats.
F/G train is a 30 second min walk. A/C train is a 8 min walk. 10 min to SOHO. 25 min to TIMES SQUARE.
We had a nice stay in Brooklyn with our friends! Our group was large with 4 kids and 4 adults and everyone had a place to sleep, and we were also able to have nearby friends come over to visit as well. Great location for a mini-reunion of college friends and the kids loved the natural pool, turtles, and fish. Loretta was perfectly lovely and extremely accommodating. A note to future airbnbers, the apartment is a bit of a "work in progress". The shabby-chic/vintage/flea-market decor is lovely, however some things were loose or about to break. There was a crab walking across the second floor floor. But, we caught him, and put him back in his dirt cage. But he may have escaped again. ADVENTURE TIME!
Amazing house, everything we needed. Host is great with all communication and area is wonderful.
We highly recommend!
What a unique and gorgeous brownstone to call home for a wedding weekend. Ten guests slept comfortably and there was still room to set up pre-wedding projects (flower bouquets, decorations, etc) in the living room. We even took a dip in the stunning pool! As people came and went, they loved the sweet turtles out front. Sweet memories were made. Thank you for a fun and relaxing stay!
We couldn't have asked for anything more. Loretta was an amazing host, and her place was exactly what we were looking for: spacious, comfortable, cozy, eco-conscious.... The green space was spectacular from frogs in the garden to turtles and fish in the ponds. The roof garden was a favorite feature. We'd go back in a heartbeat. A perfect place for 8 girls to gather and cook, eat, drink wine and chat pond-side, and right in the heart of one of my favorite neighborhoods. Spectacular.
We stayed in the Brooklyn triplex with another family (both two adults and three kids). The house was spacious and comfortable for all ten of us. The kids loved the pool, turtles and fish.
The house was spotless and provided everything we needed.
The location was fantastic with lots to do in the area and only minutes to central manhattan by subway.
We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to NY and would highly recommend the house.
Loretta was a great host and provided everything we needed.
Loretta's home was perfect for 10 of us. We found it comfortable and the green features and pool (and turtles) were delightful. The location was terrific. I give it a high recommendation.
This place is a paradise in the city. I couldn't have asked for better experience, and highly recommend this place for a few reasons:
1. to take advantage of the small swimming hole in the backyard, which was great relief in the heat of the summer
2. It's super convenient to the F/G subway so getting around brooklyn or manhattan is easy.
3. the green roof is rad - great view and theres a fully functional beehive. AirBeeandBee!
4. it's well designed, the spaces flow nicely, the materials are warm and natural, and light fixtures are classic.
If I have a large group again, I will return.
A wonderful host with an amazing home to share; no words will ever do them justice. We couldn't have had a better place or location for our weekend in Brooklyn.
