The perfect place to experience historic downtown SLO!

The Space

The property on which the guest house is located is a highly sought after and popular historic neighborhood of San Luis Obispo. This unique guest house space is situated on the second floor above the garage away from the street. It was originally the carriage house for the main home. The special juxtaposition of the apartment places your view at tree level overlooking the other buildings
in the neighborhood which creates a peaceful, tree-house effect. Perfect for a weekend getaway or extended vacation! The apartment is approximately 450 square feet and provides a single bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen. The bedroom has a brand new queen size bed and lots of closet space to stow away your belongings and keep the space clutter free. The bathroom has a combined shower and tub. The eat-in kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, gas stove,
and dishwasher. The galley-style layout makes food reparation a breeze. There is a private deck off the entrance to the apartment with a bistro table and chairs that is divine for sipping a morning cup of your favorite beverage or
enjoying a drink at the end of the day. An off-street parking space makes loading and unloading easier and saves you from trying to park on the busy street. We also have two bikes that are available for use if desired. (San Luis Obispo
is a very bike and pedestrian friendly city!) For those who are looking to stay long-term access to the washer and dryer can be negotiated. The neighborhood is popular for many reasons. A main factor is its proximity to downtown San Luis Obispo, a mere 4 blocks away. Shopping, restaurants, movie
theaters, bars, art galleries, museums, and Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa are all within a short walk, ride, or drive. Even closer, right around the corner, are some local favorites: Sally Lou's Cafe, Lotus Asian restaurant, Cafe Roma Italian restaurant, Gus' Grocer Sandwiches, Del Monte Cafe, and Meze wine bar. There is also a wonderful yoga studio, Yoga Centre, around the corner. Many
people in the neighborhood also utilize a bike path (3 miles round trip from the house) near by for exercise or commuting. The path runs along the train
tracks. There are numerous mountain biking and hiking trails throughout the city and all within a few miles from the house. \r\n\r\nThe Greyhound bus and Amtrak train station are two blocks away. Several public transit bus stops are nearby as well. The airport is a few miles away, a short taxi ride or quick drive, from the house. The freeway is also easily accessible from the neighborhood. We live on the same property but keep to ourselves. We have a little boy who plays in the yard and a tenant that rents the rear portion of our home.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is very close to all the fun and excitement of downtown SLO but far enough away that it is quiet. It is easy to walk, ride a bike, or hop on public transit to get around. We have so much that is right within a few minutes walk you really can't complain.

Getting around

There are several public transportation stops in the neighborhood for various routes that will take you around and across town.

Other Things to Note

We will have two small bottles of wine awaiting your arrival as well as a discounted pass for two for wine tasting at a local winery. Coffee and tea are stocked in the cupboard as well for your enjoyment. When the fruit trees are in season you are more than welcome to pick as many lemons, oranges, and loquats as your heart desires.

  • A cheerful and private apartment in a pleasant residential neighborhood a stone's throw from the Amtrak station and within comfortable walking distance to the downtown. My husband and I had taken the Coast Starlight and stopped for the weekend in San Luis Obispo en route from LA to SF. I recommend the train, the town and the apartment.

  • Perfect stay, also with our little Olli. We liked the fact that we could walk to the shops and cafe's, stroll around in the green and quiet neigborhood and be able to drive to the beach and vineyards...location location location ;-)
The apartment was very complete! communication smooth

  • Great neighborhood! It was a nice place that could use a few more instructions on basic things like where heat and extra pillowcases are, but overall a good spot with nice hosts.

  • We only stayed at the guest house for one night, but it was perfect! Everything was clean as as described. The location was quiet, yet still very convenient to the main downtown area. I would stay there again!

  • Nice space, clean, light and airy, with full kitchen, walking distance to downtown shops. It was great to have the use of bikes, as you can get around town easily that way. Host was great, helpful, made us feel welcome.

  • Wonderful spot. So close to everything. Great to walk downtown and to Sally Loo's coffee house right from the house with our kids. Stefany and Miles were amazing. So helpful and knowledgeable about the complexities of travelling with kids. Great info regarding places to eat, run, visit. Lovely little casita. Spotless and quiet. A great place to stay close to everything in SLO.
