Horseshoe Bend house overlooks the Hawea River approx 8km for Wanaka and 6 km from Hawea,
Views to the south are stunning overlooking "Horseshoe Bend" on the Hawea river from an elevated terrace, to the north the beautiful mountains above Lake Hawea.
Your room is situated on the west wing of the house. Your bathroom has a shower and toilet.
Your room is easily accessible from both sides of the house, the easiest way is up the footpath (riverside of the house). You can independently come and go as you please. If you would like to use the laundry it is accessible either internally or externally and you are most welcome to use the washing machine and laundry powders. We have drying racks available for use or alternatively the outside washing line. We have stipulated no access to the kitchen area as our kitchen, dining and living area is one big room and is used by the family so can be quite a different dynamic to the tranquility of the west wing of the house.... 3 young children tend to do that :). However your room does have tea/ coffee making facilities and wifi.
If there is anything you need or want help with please feel comfortable in asking us. We love where we live and are happy to help you with information on favourite places to dine, wine, walk, bike, hike, fish, hunt, ski, run, jump or latte.... There are two aspects to our property, the space and sanctuary of your private room and bathroom. And then there is our home... busy and boisterous. We are equally happy for you to enjoy a private, independent stay or to join our energetic family life, you choose.
Wanaka does not have public transport, it's a small rural town. However in the winter during ski season often local social websites set up car pooling sites for transport to and from the ski fields and can be a great option for traveling to and from Treble Cone or Cardrona Ski fields. There is a local taxi company. from our place in to town costs about $40 each way. Our neighbours can offer transport too, often at a better rate using their business Funny French Car Tours.
We are in a rural setting and have animals. There are chickens, a cat, a horse and 3 dogs. The dogs are working dogs therefore live outside and go to work with Rex each day. They are people friendly. The cat is super friendly and will invite herself onto your lap if you are not careful.
