The Little Gem:
With a wrap-around deck gazing out over the valley and forest, the Little Gem Cabin is a romantic retreat. The Little Gem offers a full kitchen and a beautiful dining nook with a skylight gazing up into the rare redwood & madrone trees. Lace covered French doors separate the exquisite bathroom that boasts a deep, claw-foot, steeping tub and shower. The Jotul wood-burning stove is as picturesque as it is toasty. The queen bed is outfitted with a Tempur-Pedic mattress, a down duvet, and immaculately clean linens. The Little Gem is built out of the finest materials including redwood, tumbled marble, and art glass lighting. The retreat is meticulously cleaned with non-toxic, eco friendly cleansers and is pet dander free.
Outside of The Little Gem is your large, private yard. In addition to the wrap-around deck with its bistro table and chairs, the yard includes a 2-person hammock, a dining area with comfortable lounge chairs and BBQ. Relax and dine on your own little mountain top terrace, filled with flowers and embraced by redwoods, madrones, and oaks. Gaze at the stars, unobstructed by city lights.
Heart Circle Mountain is in the Goldilocks Zone. Above the fog-line but below hotter and higher altitudes which can be buggy. Heart Circle has a unique and sunny microclimate.
Our two, private, hiking trails each promise a unique Big Sur experience.
The Waterfall trail meanders through a redwood forest along a private section of Palo Colorado Creek and includes two lounge areas, each outfitted with 2-person hammocks, tables and chairs perfect for a picnic or glass of wine. First appears the Forest Glen: a magical area on the creek with old growth redwoods soaring overhead and surrounded by a lush forest floor of sorrel and ferns. Further into the redwoods the second lounging area at the waterfall: an intimate forest setting with a granite waterfall and pool, surrounded by ferns and redwoods.
The Zen Trail gently climbs up Garrapata Ridge and offers spectacular ocean, mountain, and valley views. This magical spot is perfect to watch the red-tailed hawks and peregrine falcons fly overhead while enjoying gorgeous sunsets. A lounge area with a 2-person hammock, table and chairs awaits you at the trails end, nestled under a natural oak arbor with a view of the ocean. Beyond our property is the Ventana wilderness, with countless hikes and world famous Garrapata Beach. Our two hikes, just outside your door, are your private piece of this magnificent country.
Our property is perfectly located on Big Sur's north coast, atop a small mountain overlooking Palo Colorado Canyon and beyond. Heart Circle Mountain is conveniently located just 2.2 miles from Highway 1. Enjoy all that Big Sur has to offer, yet remain only a 15-minute drive north to Carmel, and a 15-minute drive south to Big Sur valley. Enjoy the best of both worlds, on the most scenic roads anywhere. No need to worry about dirt roads, as our retreats are located along our private paved road, which is traffic, mud and dust free, even in the winter.

The cabin was perfect---we burned about 100 logs over the weekend in the old school fireplace. The location was up a redwood lined valley and isolated from anything remotely related to civilization. The weather was brilliant and we really had a great time at cool restaurants, on oceanside hikes and just taking it all in.
The reservation was canceled 78 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We had the most magical weekend at the Little Gem. Our hosts were communicative and clear, the location is idyllic, and the cabin serene. I wish we could have stayed longer -- we were so sad to go!
Lovely, sunny spot surrounded by mountains. The short walk up the hill behind the cabin to the hammock and bench is well worth it!
The gem is pristine, functional, & perfect:
--Surrounded by gorgeous trails that led ceremoniously to comfy HAMMOCKS. You will die of cozy.
--Shower water pressure was great.
--Claw-foot tub was divine and the water hot hot hot.
--Kitchen, fully-equipped w/ the best utensils & cookware
--Romantic lighting, divine details, & roaring fireplace that heats up the whole cabin...
If you want to have a heavenly, tranquil escape, stay in the gem! There's a lot of love in this space. Respect it.
We enjoyed our stay and the lovely surroundings. The owners respected our privacy even though they live just across the road. They were prompt with correspondence, it made all arrangements very smooth and effortless.
Heart Circle Mountain is the perfect long weekend escape. The Little Gem has everything you need to make for a romantic getaway - a gorgeous bath, brilliant linen, a fully equipped kitchen and a great little fireplace. The hammocks that are scattered across the property are a fantastic way to experience the beautiful surrounds. Andrew and Brianne are warm, hospitable, considerate - it was the perfect balance of approachability and privacy.
It is a wonderful location. There are parks both north and south of you. The stars at night are magnificent.
The Little Gem was great. A beautiful mountain retreat close to the ocean and all that Big Sur had to offer. It was a perfect and peaceful getaway for two with gorgeous valley views.
The Little Gem is a lovely little cabin set among beautiful redwoods and mountains. It was a great place to stay and a good base for exploring all the sights of Big Sur. It was very quiet the trails on the property, though not long, were very nice, especially the waterfall trail. I never met Brianne but spoke to her husband over the phone and they seem like very nice people. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. The only suggestion I would make is that breakfast (more than coffee and tea) be included. The price is quite high so I think it would be nice to have that. Other than that I would recommend the cabin!
