Interaction with Guests

We work for ourselves and in hospitality and are rarely home so if you are renting the guest room our interaction with you will probably be minimal. Carmen is a Concierge and does very much enjoy helping prepare guests for their trips before they arrive (ex. restaurant bookings, suggestions of special exhibits/events/attractions, etc. or just general tips/advice). Please reach out to us whenever needed. We are readily accessible by email or phone throughout your stay!

The Neighborhood

NEIGHBORHOOD & LOCAL SUGGESTIONS

• We live on the border of "Prospect Heights" and "Crown Heights" in Brooklyn, just east of Prospect Park (Brooklyn's version of Central Park) and a short 6-8 blocks from Brooklyn's Botanic Garden, the Brooklyn Museum and Grand Army Plaza (where Brooklyn hosts a Saturday Market)

• We enjoy both a quiet residential neighborhood with beautiful brownstone homes and a growing number of Manhattan-quality restaurants, bars, coffee shops and boutiques within a 2-10 block radius.

• NYC's famous Brooklyn Museum (just 5 blocks away) has a Pay-What-You-Wish entry daily (Note: their "suggested contribution" for adults is $12 and $8 for seniors/students but these are only suggested amounts)

• The Botanic Garden (also just 5 blocks away) offers free entry all day on Tuesdays and before 12pm on Saturdays

• We are equally as close to Prospect Park (Brooklyn's version of Central Park - both were designed by the same landscape architect) which hosts many great free outdoor film screenings, concerts and food festivals every summer: (website hidden)

• See our guidebook for a growing list of neighborhood services, new dining suggestions, coffee shops, bars, jazz clubs, and local shopping

  • Stay here! Carmen and Leo's place was clean, comfortable and cool. It's a 4th floor walk-up in a nice building with big front windows looking onto the street. Beds were comfy, great shower pressure and she even stocked the fridge with oj, yogurt and fruit-although there are TONS of awesome spots in the hood to dine. The apt's just a couple of blocks away from the subway so it makes it super easy to get around and only a 30 minute commute into the city. Above everything, Carmen was super friendly, easy-going and full of helpful recommendations. We had an awesome visit and would definitely stay here again as well as recommend it to any of our friends.
    Thanks! Karen and Ben

  • We had a lovely time at Carmen & Leo's home, it's a cozy and comfortable place. Carmen was so helpful organising our reservation at the last minute and then responding super quickly to emails while we were there. She left some great tips for places to visit in the area.

  • Stayed for 4 days in April with family. The place was clean, and Carmen very helpful, and flexible. It is a fourth floor walkup, in a neighborhood that is working for up-scale but definitely not there yet :-) . We enjoyed it and would do it again.

  • We have only good things to say about our time at Carmen's. The apartment was ideal for our needs. It was clean, comfortable, and had a worldly, intellectual feel. Also, Carmen's knowledge of the city is apparent everywhere; she provides a wide array of maps and brochures detailing countless spots throughout the city. Every suggestion she gave us for food, drink, and entertainment was excellent. From the hip little flea market with the foodie vendors, to the dim, intimate cocktail bar with a feeling of alchemy. It was everything we wanted and Carmen was an excellent host. If you want a great location to get anywhere relatively quick and awesome hosts, this is the place.

  • Carmen and Leo are very attentive to our guests arrive all you need for breakfast in the morning was ready. In addition, they have left us a map of the metro and another on the points nice to see in the city. We had a pleasant stay in their apartment, the bedding was really great;) we recommend their apartment.
