Quaint, "artsy" 3BR apartment in the middle of it all: the bustling East Village, NYC! Amazing neighborhood and prime location for the spring. Two busy, but friendly roommates, so plenty of privacy & space to yourself!

The Space

Live like a New Yorker, in the heart of the East Village & Union Square! Plenty of privacy & space to do your own thing; even though there are other housemates, schedules are so crazy it will be like you've got a place to yourself!

Got a DOG traveling with you...BRING that little pooch along!! Dogs WELCOMED, as I have one too and he loves the company.

Bohemian, artsy apartment in a 1913 brownstone building with character and charm! Located in the middle of it all just between the hopping East Village and energetic Union Square, the apartment is a cozy, peaceful refuge in the heart of one of the BEST downtown areas in NYC! Convenient walking distance to the hip Lower East Side, beautiful Washington Square Park/NYU, trendy Soho and Noho and so much more! Just around the block from the 1st Ave. L-train (crosstown subway at 14th Street), the access to the westside and Brooklyn is unbeatable! Union Square (4/5/6 and N/Q/R trains) is an 8 minute walk away.

During spring/summer, this is a prime neighborhood to be in - steps away from everything! The East River promenade, quiet cafes, Union Square Greenmarket, Tompkins Square park, amazing al fresco restaurants, Trader Joe's/Whole Foods, shopping and unique boutiques...I could go on and on.

The apartment: fully furnished living room, kitchen, large (email hidden) artsy, shabby chic vibe about the space! I'm a filmmaker, writer and amateur photographer, so I feel my bohemian, laid-back spirit hopefully infuses the space! Colorful, unique and quirky is the general vibe!

As for the space - I will be living there, as well and generally keep a guest-free, predictable and calm atmosphere! I'm a grad student so definitely keep an environment conducive to peace, quiet, studying and getting away from the stresses of the outside world. I cook every evening and keep a pretty routine schedule and won't bother you at all. I'm friendly and welcome you to make yourself comfortable, but keep a busy schedule with school/personal obligations so am usually in my own world. I don't entertain in the apartment and would expect the guests do their socializing outside of the apartment, as well.

The bedroom available is furnished simply, with bed, small table, floor lamp & a closet, as well.

Ideally looking for longer term Airbnb'ers, but open to any respectful, quiet, responsible people who are looking for a reliable, safe space to stay!!

Bathroom, private bedroom, living room area, kitchen/refrigerator, delivery services galore!!!

Minimal interaction...if you like privacy & ideally like living alone, this is a perfect option. I keep very to myself & have a pretty hectic schedule that keeps me out & about for long hours!

Yes - easy access to crosstown & Brooklyn-bound trains, uptown/downtown trains, buses, and walkable to all major necessities (grocery, laundry, etc)

Guest Access

PRIVATE bedroom, bathroom, kitchen.

Interaction with Guests

Two roommates live in the apartment, but keep very busy and separate schedules/lives. Friendly, but anticipate MINIMAL interaction and socializing with housemates.

The Neighborhood

The East Village has EVERYTHING you could need and want! Great restaurants, coffee shops and sidewalk cafes, boutiques, street food electrifying, creative energy of a truly artsy, hip neighborhood! I love it's walkability - perfect for strolls and people-watching in the summer time.

Getting around

YES! It's incredibly conveniently-located to a LOT of public transportation:
- L-train (crosstown on 14th Street) that takes you West side and to Brooklyn in minutes.
- Crosstown buses on 14th Street
- 4/5/6 trains (uptown/downtown on the East side) and N/Q/R trains from Union 8 minute walk away.
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd Avenue uptown/downtown buses.
- CitiBike stations all around the East Village (pay as you go, rental bikes).

Other Things to Note

DOGS welcome!!! I have a large breed Boxer and he would love the company. Must be house trained, non-aggressive, etc. of course.

  • Kristin was very accommodating and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. My Boston Terrier and I had a very enjoyable stay and would stay again.

  • Kristen is a great host and a great person. She is very conscientious and thoughtful as a roommate, but easy going and flexible at the same time. I had a flight delay on my check-in day and she was super helpful and accommodating. Her place is very well kept, neat and surprisingly quiet in such a busy neighborhood.

Speaking of which - the neighborhood is awesome, with endless great restaurants and bars, and right on the L train in case you need to get your Brooklyn on. Bottom line: you will not find a better deal for the location and quality of room and roommate on airbnb.

Last but not least, her dog Buddy is also a great roommate - quiet and unimposing, and also the sweetest boxer I have ever met.

Columbia University
MFA Film Program, Graduate Student
I'm a 32 year old female, living with her pooch in the East Village. I've been a New Yorker for life (feels like it!), but technically for 3 years now. I'm a graduate student at Columbia's MFA Film Program in Creative Producing. I am currently getting my butt kicked in said program and loving every minute of's a wild ride. I LOVE New York City - it's my favorite love affair. Good coffee, great stories, lots of sarcasm and humor, stiff whiskey, the holiday season, laughing, the beach and long, pointless, contemplative walks late at night are a few other things I obsess over.
