The studio has a queen size bed with linen and towels provided, own bathroom, TV/DVD player, kitchenette, WiFi and on-street parking. It's the downstairs half of our house, with its own separate access. We live upstairs with our two young boys
The kitchenette includes a small fridge, two electric hot plates and a microwave - and is equipped with all the essentials, including a saucepan with steamer, a frypan, an electric frypan, juicer and a hand blender. Please note that the grill/oven under the hot plates in the photo does not work.
There is an excellent stand-alone electric panel heater in the room. A small amount of tea, coffee, sugar and milk is provided, but if you need a refill don't hesitate to let us know. Fast, reliable WiFi is accessible. Check in and out times are usually pretty flexible - just ask.
The studio is half of the downstairs of our house and is blocked off with a lockable door from both sides. Separate access, but shared driveway so please park in the bicycle/parking lane out the front on the street. 15 minute walk into town and to the beach. Located at the back of town, opposite the hills.
There are four of us living upstairs - Joe and Sophie, as well as our two young boys; Michael (2.5 years) and Jimmy (1 year)
Apollo Bay is the most beautiful town. We have lived in the area for 5 years and love it. Feel free to stop and chat if you see us coming or going, otherwise we'll leave you to it.
Internet access available
Laundry - washer/dryer is $5 a load
Kids are welcome! We have a portable cot you can borrow if you need, however keep in mind the studio is not toddler proof
Interaction with Guests
While you're here (absolutely!) feel free to have a chat if you see us coming or going, otherwise we'll just leave you to it.
Apollo Bay is pretty much the best place on the planet to live in or visit. Well, if it's not the best, it's definitely in the top 10.
Other Things to Note
Because we live upstairs, keep in mind you can hear us walking around our home from downstairs in the studio. The kids are in bed by 8pm, and me and Joe usually head to bed around 10:30, so you can expect things to be quiet from then until around 7:30 the next morning. I (try) to keep the kids on the far side of the house once they're up, until around 9am
This place was totally as described. Beautiful, self contained in a remarkable place. Our hosts where relaxed and absolutely lovely. No trouble recommended this wonderful place.
The Studio was great. the kitchen has evething u need to make meals if you want but we choose to eat in town which is only about a ten minute walk. We had no problem with any noise coming from upstairs. I think Sophie goes out of her way to make minimal noise when guests are in the stuido which was nice.
Sophie was always quick to answer any questions we had.
I would definatly stay here again.
Nice place! Living here is very convenient. Great location, clean and quiet. Master in terms of privacy. I recommend. thanks again
A basic, simple facility. We were able to get a comfortable bed. We were able to clean the laundry. Hosts were helpful and let us stay longer hours to clean the laundry.
Sophie and Joe were very welcoming and the accommodation was very comfortable and good value allowing us to cook our own meal and do our own thing.
Sophie and Joe were wonderful hosts! They made us feel right at home. Sophie has maps posted and lists of the best things to do in the area...definitely take her advice! If you are anywhere near Apollo Bay, I suggest staying in their Studio!!
We've been living in Apollo Bay for about 3 years, but have been down this way for the last 5. Before that, we were traveling around the UK and Europe, always seeming to end up in tiny fishing villages in the middle of nowhere - which, come to think of it, is again where we ended up! Now that we are temporarily housebound with young kids, it's great being able to return the favour and host a traveler or two.
