Interaction with Guests
We always enjoy meeting and talking with our guests while at the same time respecting their time, privacy, and space.
We live in the downstairs part of the house and therefore are a door knock or phone call away from assisting you in any way we can or answering your questions.
We live in the older part of the city, just northeast of downtown with houses built in the late 1800s to early 1900s. The streets are tree-lined and quiet, with friendly, animal-loving neighbors. We love living here and appreciate the locally owned businesses and parks threaded throughout the neighborhoods. We wouldn't live anywhere else!
There is a bus system in downtown Colorado Springs with bus stops within a block of the house.
Only room to park one vehicle off street
No smoking in or around the house.
You are welcome to use our grill
Friendly pets are welcome.
My sister and I stayed at Buck's Hideaway for three weeks. We arrived a day early, and Bill and Julie had no problem with that. The apartment is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!!! and comfortable. A variety of snacks were stocked, along with basics like butter and milk and eggs. The special treat from the local Dutch Bakery was especially welcome.
The Hideaway is located on a quiet residential street that is convenient to old downtown and I-25. There is a park at the end of the block where we walked our dogs every day (and Bill and Julie welcomed the dogs warmly as well.)
We (dogs too) were gone about 12 hours per day, so we didn't see our hosts too often. But they always answered our texts promptly when we had a question and were very helpful, including providing a humidifier when we mentioned the air in the apt. was quite dry.
The photos are very accurate. The apt is not big but it was perfect for us. The kitchen is bright and roomy with dishes, pots and pans, even a crock pot. The bed is very comfortable, and the airbed provided was also comfortable and convenient.
If I ever travel this way again I will be sure to stay with Bill and Julie, two of the kindest, most accomodating and fun people you could hope to stay with. Julie's baked treats were very welcome too!
Snowstorms delayed our departure and our hosts welcomed us for a few more days. All in all, a terrific travel experience.
Bill and Julie made it so it would be impossible for us to NOT enjoy Colorado Springs. Right at the door we were welcomed with a cute little chalkboard sign addressed to us. Walking in, we instantly felt at home. Bill and Julie left us fresh ground coffee and all of the fixin's for breakfast and snacking for the three days we were there; which is, incredible, because using the kitchen is an absolute dream. They were very kind in offering up anything else we may need during our stay as well as adjusting the temperatures to our liking. Overall, an amazing stay. Had we not gone to hike the Garden of the Gods, or Manitou Incline.. locking ourselves up in Buck's Hideaway for a few nights would had been a perfect vacation. Don't hesitate to book!
Very welcoming hosts, and an adorable place that is actually bigger than it looks in the photos.
This place was great! Tiny, cute, and very feel good place! Perfect place to relax and create! Bill and Julie were the sweetest!! Very friendly, open, kind, and thoughtful! They were amazing! This perfect little place is in the middle of downtown, the absolutely perfect place! The best coffee shop in town, fifty fifty coffee house, is only 3 blocks away! Loved it and will be back! Thanks Bill and Julie!
We arrived in the dark (unfortunately late because of airline delays) to welcoming entry lights, a personal message and a wonderfully stocked refrigerator. Buck's Hideaway was absolutely everything we anticipated (AND MORE) from our peek at the online pictures. We loved the kitchen windows, the sparkling cleanliness throughout, the down comforter, books galore (to this avid reader's delight), nightlights, the cozy throws in the living room. We spent a lot of time in the hideaway during our week there, and it felt wonderfully like having our own comfortable home. Extra thoughtful touches were evident everywhere we looked and when my husband's shaver suddenly quit, there were even razors handy! We felt totally pampered. We were so glad to meet Bill and Julie when they came up to say hello. They made certain we lacked nothing, right down to adjusting the thermostat, offering us bikes to ride and clueing us in on places to check out in the nearby downtown historic area of Colorado Springs. We are THRILLED to have found such a lovely, cozy and unique place to stay. Thank you, thank you, Bill and Julie!
Julie and Bill are great hosts, attentive without being intrusive. Their place is in a great central location and has a nice view of Pikes Peak from the kitchen table. We were there during an early cold snap with snow and they swept the stairs and walkway to the car in the am for us. They also provided plenty of delicious food for breakfast and fresh roasted coffee. The kitchen is well stocked and easy to actually cook in. They were very concerned about our comfort and adjusted the heat according to our needs. All in all we highly recommend a stay in Buck's Hideaway.
"Quality" is what describes every aspect of my experience staying at Buck's hideaway! From the care that Bill and Julie gave to my comfort and needs, to the furnishings of the apartment, to the cooking equipment and food supplies, to the nicely-stocked fridge, everything was first -rate! Add to that a comfy bed, lovely tiled bathroom and shower, the amazing sun-lit kitchen and views, the great location, and wonderful neighborhood...it was a perfect place to stay for my visit in the Springs. I will definitely stay here again! Thank you for everything, Julia and Bill!
Bill grew up on a dairy farm in the plains of Colorado. Julie has lived all over the country, last living in Illinois. Buck the Bull grew up in rural MN. We like to travel in the mountains, walk around historic neighborhoods, read, garden, and try new local eateries and breweries. We particularly like Ouray and Telluride, CO.
