About this listing
Lovely one-bedroom apartment with spacious, leafy terrace, perfect for enjoying a quiet aperitif or dinner on a balmy Roman night! Located in the very heart of Rome's historical centre, in a recently refurbished building with elevator.
Lovely one-bedroom apartment just a couple of minutes from the Spanish Steps, on the second floor of a recently refurbished 17th century building with elevator.
There is a spacious living room with two front-aspect French windows overlooking one of the quieter streets in the Spanish Steps area.
The bedroom has a comfortable double bed and ample built-in wardrobe (as well as additional linen and towel storage). It is rear-aspect, leading to a gorgeous leafy terrace that looks onto the internal courtyard. The terrace is furnished with an outdoor dining table and chairs, perfect for enjoying a quiet breakfast or lunch or even hosting a dinner party on a balmy Roman night!
The living room – which includes a small open-plan kitchen – is stylishly furnished with dining table and chairs, a sofa-bed, bookshelves and a piano.
There is one bathroom with shower, and a separate laundry room.
The apartment is in a small building, occupying the entire second floor, and comes with everything you need for a comfortable stay away from home: wifi, air conditioning, washing machine, hair dryer, stereo, sheets and towels (of course), electric kettle, coffee maker, cooking utensils, and various maps and guides to Rome. And because dirt and clutter are my two pet peeves, it's also super tidy and squeaky clean!
The apartment is perfectly located for exploring Rome's historical center: all of the major attractions, including the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, the Colosseum, Campo de' Fiori, Piazza del Popolo, Villa Borghese, Piazza Venezia, are within easy walking distance. The area is also well served by public transport: the Piazza di Spagna metro station (only three stops from Termini) is less than a five minute walk away, as are numerous buses. And there is a taxi station just around the corner, which is really convenient for getting back to the airport of to Termini if you don't feel like lugging your bags around public transport.
The Spanish Steps area is also great for shopping – with the legendary Via dei Condotti just around the corner – and is filled with countless amazing restaurants, bars and coffee shops. And for those who don't want to eat out for every meal, there are several well-stocked supermarkets within easy walking distance.
Access to all amenities and features, including private terrace and laundry room. Nothing shared or off-limits. Access also to communal storage room, where luggage can be stored past the check-out time.
Interaction with Guests
I am often abroad for work, so you will be met at the apartment on your arrival by the housekeeper, who will give you the keys and explain everything you need to know. Neither I nor the housekeeper come around the property unless there is an emergency, or a guest specifically requests our presence.
The Spanish Steps area is arguably the most central spot in Rome, within walking distance to virtually all the major attractions. It is also a sought-after residential area: clean, safe and surrounded by a wealth of amenities, including several supermarkets and pharmacies and the largest post-office in central Rome. Good restaurants abound here, and the streets located between Piazza di Spagna and Via del Corso are also home to Rome's best designer stores, as well as a vast array of boutiques and high-street brands. In short, there is hardly a better place to stay, especially if you are visiting Rome for the first time!
The flat is very conveniently located, just a 4 minute walk to the metro (Line A), and even closer to numerous public buses. There is also a large taxi station just around the corner from the property. Transit to and from the airport and train station is very easy: details included in the house manual.
Just keep the place in order (i.e. try avoid breaking things, rearranging furniture, staining the bookshelves, things like that), don't make TOO much noise, and please avoid smoking inside – if you're a smoker, there's a great terrace where you can enjoy all the cigarettes you want! And then, of course, the obvious things you'd pay attention to in your own home, like not burning the place down by leaving the gas on in the kitchen, and – though the Spanish Steps area is one of the safest in Rome – not buzzing in anyone you don't know/aren't expecting.
This was our first Airbnb experience and it really could not have been more perfect. We were met on arrival by TJ's extremely friendly and helpful housekeeper, Jun, who told us all we needed to know for our stay. The apartment itself is very clean and beautifully decorated, the terrace is an added bonus. As a first visit to Rome we were keen to see all the major sights and the apartment was perfectly located to explore all Rome has to offer. We would definitely recommend this host to others looking for a home away from home in Rome.
Gracias Tj !
This place is perfect for an traveler, short or long stay! It's close to everything right in the heart of the city. My friend and I were able to see/walk to everything, book tours off the wifi, and experience endless amounts of culture and food. Amazing! I will be booking again in future!
TJ was away but Jun was waiting for us to let us in. The apartment is at a great location: very close to the Spanish steps, Trevi fountains, and most other attraction are within walking distance. A small coop supermarket is within a couple of minutes. We had a great stay in Rome. Admittedly, the apartment was a bit smaller than we had expected and would probably feel crowded with 4 people.
We took TJ's advice & took a taxi from the airport (48€) & were dropped off right at the door. Jun was there waiting to welcome us & took us up to the apartment. It was exactly as described, very nice, clean & comfortable and an amazingly good location, right next to the buzzy Spanish Steps area.
Visiting Rome in July is very hot work & having the air conditioned apartment to return to was a real bonus.
The apartment looks just like the pictures. Great location. Great restaurants nearby.
Jun met me right on time - and TJ's place is right on a charming pedestrian-only street right in the centre of Rome! A mere five minutes to the Spanish steps and only 20 minutes to the colosseum, and roman forum - you can't ask for better. Also only 3 minutes to a useful grocery store and taxi stand ... Definitely recommend.. For this first-time visitor to Rome it was perfect.
About the Host, Tj
I'm a writer, filmmaker and university professor (I teach Film Studies). I grew up moving around Europe, went to university in Rome and then did my graduate and postgraduate studies in London. I love watching movies (of course), reading, taking photos, and going on long walks. I'm especially fond of wandering around Rome, and, if I'm lucky, getting lost (best way to discover the city's hidden treasures!) I'm fluent in English and Italian, speak conversational French and Spanish, and if need be, can get by in German!
