About This Listing
Upper Beachgate is a beautifully appointed, tastefully furnished 3-bed/3-bath apartment on a white sandy beach in Hastings.
Facing the ocean, Beachgate lies on the vibrant south coast in Hastings, just west of the popular Boardwalk. Approaching this charming architect-designed villa, you are amazed to discover it opens up into two large apartments, the upper a 3 bedroom en-suite, the lower, two bedrooms en-suite. Both are tastefully furnished, with spacious, open-plan living/dining areas that flow out onto large verandahs.
Steps from your door lies the ocean. There’s always the constant sound of the sea, an unforgettable view, and the gentle rustle of trade winds in the Coconut trees. You can sit on the wide stretch of beach, swim and snorkel in the protected lagoon (perfect for kids) or the more adventurous can surf or snorkel the barrier reef just beyond.
If sand and sea are not really your thing, relax and sip a drink by the pool which is shared by both units. Whether to unwind, go for a nearby adventure, treat your taste buds or explore local culture, Beachgate is perfectly suited. Most of our guests choose not to rent a car as everything is close by!
Step out onto the beach. Turn left and you can walk on the boardwalk to the spectacular Rockley beach, aka Accra beach, with its famous ultra fine white sand where locals and tourists mix. Turn right and stroll along the peaceful coast towards the famous Hilton beach. Back at Beachgate, you will take with you a lasting memory of the sun sinking into the horizon, and as you sit cocktail in hand, you may even see the elusive green flash.
Fully equipped kitchen.
Barbecue on the verandah.
Laundry room with washer and dryer is shared with the Lower Beachgate unit.
Swimming pool is shared by both units.
Maid service is provided twice a week.
There are three great dining choices on the boardwalk, Blakey’s, Tapas, and Naru with a half dozen others within walking distance. Also be sure to catch the Saturday farmer’s market opposite Blakey’s from 9AM to 1PM for your typical local Barbadian produce and crafts.
It’s a short walk to Lanterns mall, a great stop for groceries and general supplies, a pharmacy, health food store, Haagen Das ice cream, and tasty local and foreign food alternatives for those looking for a quick meal.
For duty free shoppers:
There are duty free shops in Worthing, five minutes by local bus or take a ten minute ride to Bridgetown. On Broad Street you will find fine jewellery shops, Cave Shepherd, a large department store, and other shops. For a great local shopping experience visit bustling Swan Street.
For history buffs:
There’s the Hastings Historic District and storied Garrison area of Barbados. It is the location of the Old Colonial Officers Quarters and Army Hospital. The Savannah comprises the main military guard buildings, with beautiful Victorian architecture complete with a large collection of old cannons, the Barbados Turf Club (Horse Racing), the historical museum, and a vast open sports area for rugby, soccer, cricket, all surrounded by walking and running tracks.
One minute walk to the nearest bus stop.
No Smoking in the apartment. No glass or bottles by the pool. No pets.
Perfect stay, welcoming was really nice, even better than the so beautiful pictures! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Upper Beachgate has to be one of the best experiences that we have had with AirBnB so far. Tina & Philip went out of their way to make sure that everything was taken care of before we arrived. Upon arrival, we had a driver and large van waiting to take 5 people and luggage to the villa. Tina & Philip met us at the villa to give us a personal tour, and were just a phone call or text message away for any questions that we had. Tina also suggested we rent our own vehicle ahead of time since we wanted to drive around the island, which was delivered directly to the villa. The villa was clean and spacious and very relaxing. It had everything we needed to cook - plates, pots, dishes and every gadget - which made staying in and cooking a fun part of the day. It can easily handle 6 people, with its three bedrooms and private bathrooms. The pool was perfect. The view out the balcony to the ocean was the million dollar view. A handful of restaurants, a mini-mart and various shopping were just a walk away. There is plenty of beachfront to explore and hunt for shells. The best thing I we can stay of our stay is that we would come back and would recommend people we know to go and stay there for a memorable stay. Congratulations to Tina & Philip
A fantastic experience for our family and friends at Upper Beachgate. Tina was wonderfully helpful and even appeared one day with toys for our toddlers to play with! She went above and beyond. The house itself is perfect and has everything one could want. The view has to be the most spectacular part and to be able to walk out the back door and on to the beach is impossible to beat - particularly when you then walk back in and take a dip in the pool! We didn't explore much of the neighbourhood other than along the board walk but there is everything you need from super markets to a great range of restaurants and juice bars. We didn't use a car at all whilst there and didn't miss having one.
Just arrived home from a lovely, relaxing 10 day stay at Upper Beachgate. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect! Tina and Philip met us at the villa and gave us a tour, explaining everything we needed. During our stay they responded quickly to any inquiries we had.
This villa is in an amazing location, close to everything you need including a grocery store and may delicious restaurants. The beach access was a highlight of the trip. The pool is refreshing after a day on the sand.
We went as 3 couples, and the villa could not have been more perfect. Each room having an en suite was a godsend! The kitchen was also perfectly appointed for cooking an evening meal, and we spent almost every evening out of the deck playing card games.
The only downside (and this is in no way the fault of the villa) is that the neighbours across the street have a very yappy dog that they allow to bark for hours on end, starting at about 5am. So ear plugs would be a good investment!
All in all, this place has everything. The housekeeper, Jocelyn, is also extremely sweet and helpful. Thanks for everything Tina and Philip, we sincerely hope to return!
Tina and Philip are very concerned by the well-being of their guests. They were very helpful and the villa was in perfect condition. The pictures provided on the website did not honor the latest upgrades (website hidden)'s.
My family and I had a wonderful vacation in Barbados and Upper Beachgate was the perfect home. It is clean and sunny, has a modern up to date kitchen with everything you need to prepare a meal. We hired a cook for the week, Caroline, and she loved the kitchen. The main living areas of the house are always breezy so we were able to keep all the doors wide open and enjoy the unbelievably fantastic view of the Caribbean. Housekeepers came 2x a week to tidy up and the gardener kept the grounds and pool manicured and fresh. We had our close friends rent the space downstairs, so each family enjoyed being all together, yet maintain privacy when wanted. Thank you Philip and Tina for renting us this lovely home and being there to provide answers or help for all our needs.
Tina & Philip are considerate and thoughtful hosts - upon our arrival at Beachgate they offered to take us to a local I-Mart because the grocery store would be closed the next day for a National Holiday. As well, they arranged for a rental car and taxi to the airport - they made or holiday go smoothly and without 'hitches'.
