House - Private room · Lombard St, San Francisco, CA 94133, United States

The Space

Great room in North Beach with a queen bed, shares bathroom with one other room (the host).

We are locals and can offer a unique experience to visiting San Francisco. We offer our guests complimentary extra's including wine or tea in one of the famous Seven Sisters on Postcard Row, and or wine or tea on the owner's private roof deck with views of Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay upon arrangement.

We supply all lines, and towels, and offer light maids service ie: fresh towels etc.

We believe that so many of our guests have come back to us and have sent us their friends and families over the years, because "we are around as much or as little as you want". We believe in making people feel welcome and at-home, but also in allowing our guests space and privacy when they want it. It doesn't hurt that we also offer some pretty iconic homes in some of the best locations in San Francisco.

So what can I tell you that might make you pick us over all these other lovely properties on airbnb?

* Often photographed from the outside, the home is warm and welcoming inside... Simply, Comfortable.

We Offer Extras That No One Else Can Match:

* Should our guests wish- I love to share a glass of wine or non-alcoholic beverage on the roof deck, (off my private living area in North Beach), overlooking the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge- by arrangement and weather permitting. I also give private tours of my family's home... one of the famous "Painted Ladies" or "7 sisters" on Alamo Square, (seen in Full House and many other TV shows and films).

* We are not a bad resource for guests looking for a memorable dining experience. George has written numerous San Francisco restaurant reviews for several national publications as well as a cookbook featuring San Francisco's Victorians, published for the Victorian Alliance of San Francisco. We can recommend places in all price ranges and cuisines.

  • We had a lovely stay, the room and house are beautiful and the location is perfect, walking distance from the coast, Coit tower, Russian hill, and the coast. Also just around the corner from Columbus Ave, very lively and full of restaurants/bars.

Amber and George are very good hosts, and the dog is lovely and quite playful but no bother at all to us at any point.

We were lucky enough to have a tour of one of the Painted Ladies with George - it was extremely interesting and lovely to have a chat with him. Very generous of him to do that for his guests!

  • This truly is a charming, quintessential San Francisco home that's well worth experiencing. Hosts George and Amber both made me feel very welcome while they helped me understand how to enjoy their lodging. And, their location is within an easy few blocks of all that's wonderful of the Italian neighborhood of North Beach, with its early morning bakeries, late night pizzerias, and everything in between.

  • I can't ever imagine staying anywhere else in San Francisco. Both George and Amber were the most gracious hosts! The room was clean and exactly what we expected, private and quiet. We met them for wine and it was so much fun! It's a quick walk to restaurants, bars, and several historic places. This was better than any hotel. Staying here made our vacation!

  • We had a fantastic stay with George!
The location is superb, great value and George has gone out of his way to give us a tour of his mum's place at the painted sisters. His hospitality is wonderful and we definitely recommend staying with him. He offered great advice and insights to the ins and outs of San Fran

  • It was my first AirBnb experience, I was here alone for business and it's been absolutely great! I got the pleasure to meet only Amber, but she's been a wonderful host, very nice and accommodating, I couldn't have asked better! The room is quite cozy, comfy bed and clean bathroom. The neighborhood is just perfect, a few steps away from everything (buses, cable car, bars, restaurants and attractions) and I felt very safe, even walking alone at night. Also, the wine party at Alamo Square was fantastic!

Overall, it was definitely one of the best experiences I've ever had!

  • The room and the location are wonderful and in the heart of San Francisco. You are able to reach Pier 39 as well as Fisherman's Warf by foot. Amber is a lovely person. I recommend this room to everyone.

  • Stayed there a couple of nights and loved it! It's a typical San Franciscan house, perfectly located to visit the city.
George and Amber were very nice hosts helping us to plan our time in San Francisco. I would absolutely recommend it to my friends and family.

  • Location was amazing!!! Fisherman;s Wharf was a short 5 min walk from the house. The room was cozy and and clean. Amber is so friendly and loved talking to her. I was only there for a short time but the next time I am in San Francisco, I am definitely staying there again!

  • Amazing location!! Right in the centre of North Beach, walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf/Chinatown and close to so many great Restaurants/Cafes and Bars. Well connected by public bus and cable car which allowed us travel Downtown, The Haight, The Mission, Golden Gate Park and beyond!

George and Amber are fantastic hosts - inviting us to join them for a glass of wine in Postcard Row - was amazing hearing the history of the house and their family - a highlight of the trip!

Room was very spacious and clean - a definite recommendation for anyone looking to stay in San Francisco!

  • George and Amber were great hosts. Although they were not always around we had contact all the time if we want to.
The house is an incredible place. We loved our room. Especially the bed was so comfortable...

About
Welcome to San Francisco. I love this city! It has been a great joy over time, to share my enthusiasm with the many guests who have visited here in my family's uniquely San Francisco homes. My family first came here in 1859 and I share their love of the city and it's raucous history. I have been spoiled in my life with many wonderful educational opportunities- in the United States, (California, Washington State, Cambridge, MA), and in Florence, Italy. Possibly my best learning moments have come from our guests who have come to us over the years from just about every part of the globe. I pride myself as having a good sense of humor, a good ear and an open mind. I love to listen to our guests' stories and hear about their life-experiences. My personal interests: travel (Cinque Terre, Amalfi Coast, All of Italy, Sweden, Austria, New York, are just a few faves), architecture, food, culture (music, theater ...), history, genealogy, and yes, San Francisco! Sometimes during the year I am away on the West Coast of Sweden visiting family and friends. In my absence, our friend Amber, is your host. You will be in excellent hands. I have three golden retrievers, Haakan, Ebba, and Elsa-Vega who live at one of the family homes on Alamo Square. They are available to the guests who wish to meet them when visiting the "Painted Ladies". Because some guests are allergic they are not allowed in guest rooms. I look forward to meeting you!
