The space
Our historic home is situated just two blocks from the US Capitol building. Its location makes exploring Washington, DC a matter of literally walking out the front door! The unit itself is the top-floor apartment of a beautiful, historic Capitol Hill rowhome. The unit is sunny with high ceilings, and over 700 square feet of space lit by eight large windows. Kitchen. Enjoy all stainless-steel appliances, beautiful granite countertops and an upgraded kitchen. Pots, pans, dishes, accessories — you'll find all the tools you need to put together a snack or a feast. Barbecue on the back patio using our provided propane grill. Save time and let us grocery shop for you! Send us a detailed list of your grocery needs at least two days before your check-in and we'll have the fridge stocked when you arrived. Just reimburse us for the cost of the food.
Bed. You'll find a king-sized Saatva plush soft mattress in the bedroom and a queen-sized sleeper sofa with a MiracleFoam mattress in the living room. We provide all the necessary linens and blankets for a good night's sleep. Rest assured, all pillows and bedding are hypoallergenically sealed for comfort and hygiene. A Pack 'n Play crib is also included.
Bath. The unit has one full bathroom with a combination tub and shower. We provide towels, as well as a starter kit of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Leave the hair dryer at home. We have that, too.
Entertainment. After a long day of touring DC, kick back in front of one of our two large LED-screen televisions equipped with premium on-demand TV. Of course, the home is also equipped with wireless high speed internet and some classic board games in case of a rainy day.
Safety. Given its proximity to the Capitol, the area around the home is constantly patrolled by the US Capitol Police and a manned police guard post is located just a few yards from the front door. The home itself is equipped with digital keypad door locks. No fumbling with a lockbox when you arrive. Each guest has their own unique code which ensures that you are the only one with access to the unit during your stay. (You can even pick your own code.)
Kid-friendly. We've child-proofed this home. Breakables and dangerous items have been moved out of the little ones' reach. We've provided an easy-to-set-up Graco Pack 'n Play crib for bedtime as well as a baby gate to prevent access to the stairway. The bathroom has a low-profile tub/shower combination for an easy bath time.
Other amenities: The unit also includes an iron, ironing board, cleaning supplies, foldable grocery/shopping cart and in-unit efficiency washer and dryer.
Guest access
This is a totally private, independent unit with two, separate and dedicated entrances. Guests are welcome to enjoy the entire unit as well as the front yard and small rear brick patio. Access to nearby Balance Gym included for free.
Other things to note
A nearby passenger train runs during the daytime as early as 6:20 AM. We want our guests to be informed about it as it could be a disturbance to some. At night, the area turns quiet and peaceful to let you rest and reflect on the day's activities.
There are two, completely separate units in our home. We (or sometimes other guests) will be staying in the other unit. However, both units have private spaces and entrances.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs. Check-in time is anytime after 3:00pm and check-out time is anytime before 11:00am. We can, however, normally accommodate guests who need to drop off their luggage as early as 12:00pm on the day of arrival.
