Interaction with Guests
We live on the floor located above this room and work from home so we often run into our guests. However, there are many times when schedules do not align and we miss our guests entirely but are always available for questions and recommendations.
Do note that you might run into another Airbnb guest staying in their own private room on the same floor and sharing the bathroom with you.
Our neighborhood is diverse and friendly with quaint vintage shops, quirky bars and excellent restaurants. It is conveniently located near I-5 and public transport.
Just 5 miles north of Downtown and nestled in the historic Kenton community close to shops and dining, we are within easy walking distance to public transit (Yellow Max line and several buses) and a 20 minute car ride downtown with great N/S-bound freeway access.
We are about 25-35 minutes away from downtown by bus or Yellow Max train line. Both are within six blocks of the house with a bus stop less than a block away.
Bus: 4 and 75 are less than a block away and the Yellow Max line is only 6 blocks from the house. All will take you downtown in about 25-35 minutes.
Car: Parking is free and easy curbside at the house.
We are in the Car2Go zone and several Zipcars are in the neighborhood making shared transportation readily available.
Airport: From the airport, take a taxi for $20-30 and spend 20 minutes or take the Red Max train from the airport to the Rose Quarter and change to the Yellow Max train to Kenton Station then walk to the house. It usually takes 1-1.5 hours and costs $2.50 per person.

Wow! What a wonderful long weekend in Portland. Maylene & Charity made us feel welcome every step of the way--even though we never bumped into each other at all!
Their home is beautiful, clean, safe, and mellow. Perfect for a weary traveler. And what a location! We were just minutes from everything we wanted to see, do, and eat in Portland.
Feeling comfortable and well-cared for during our stay made our vacation extra special and stress free, such a great feeling. I only wish I could have thanked them for their hospitality in person.
I would absolutely recommend staying with Maylene & Charity when visiting Portland. We will be back!
We loved staying at Maylene and Charity's home! Their home is beautiful, warm, and it's very clear that they care for and center towards their guests. We were able to meet Charity and her puppy, and she had great recommendations around the city.
We arrived in the late afternoon, Maylene & Charity had given us clear and perfect instructions for when we got there so it was totally painless. We met Maylene when we got in & she is an awesome person! She gave us the nickel tour. The room was wonderful, the house was beautiful. Absolutely no complaints, this was exactly what we needed and couldn't have asked for better hosts and digs :)
Beautiful home. It was clear to us that Maylene and Charity pay attention to detail, very clean, organized and thought out. We were greeted by hosts upon arrival which made us feel welcomed. My partner and I appreciated access to the kitchen and an open line of communication. Maylene and Charity were very responsive to our texts, within 15 minutes or less.
The house guidelines and parking instructions were placed on the dresser in the bedroom. The sheet was easy to miss, which resulted in the neighbors complaining about where we parked. Whatever you do, don't miss reading that sheet! We didn't know it was there until we were asked via text, to move our car. That part was uncomfortable.
Although we didn't get to meet our hosts in person, they were prompt and kind in their communication. We loved the room and the bed was really, really comfortable. The clawfoot bathtub was also an interesting experience! The neighborhood was just outside of the city, which was an ideal location for us; street parking was very accessible as well. We highly recommend staying with Maylene and Charity!
I loved staying here! From the minute I set eyes on the house, I was so excited. Then as I got inside it was even better! the room was SOOO lovely. I did NOT want to leave at all...the bed was sooo comfy and warm, and the room was clean and cheerful. The bathroom was so nice, clean, and airy. The house was so beautiful and welcoming, with fantastic decor and style. I couldn't have asked for a better first Airbnb experience!!!!!
Maylene and Charity were very great hosts. They greeted us as we were entering and gave us a quick tour of their home. They also took the time to suggest places to see and things to do around Portland. If we go back to Portland we woudl definitely stay with them again!

About the Host, Maylene & Charity
We are high school sweethearts who met in Japan over 20 years ago. Many areas of our home are strongly influenced by our time there. We share a common passion for travel and haven't seen nearly enough of the world yet! One day we'd like to compete and WIN on The Amazing Race.
Small business owners and entrepreneurial folk, we work from home so we're available for questions and referrals.
In our free time you'll find us planning our next big adventure, binging on YouTube videos, stretched out on a yoga mat, or curled up with a good book.
