It's my first time using airbnb, and I had really good experience. Julie is a very nice host. We arrived at her house almost at 2 in the mornirng. She stayed up late and let us in. The rooms are the sameas shown in the pictures, and it's in a convenient neighbourhood, almost everything is within walking distance. I will recommend it to others.
Everything as described. The PATH stations is quite close and even if you return late in the evening from the city you don't feel uncomfortable or unsafe. This is really quiet and safe neighbourhood. Very good and instant communication. Thank you.
Julie and her children greeted us and made us feel very welcome in her apartment. There were 7 of us and we felt that the space was spacious enough. Street parking was a little challenging but Julie gave us useful advice and practical help. The PATH station was near and we could get into Manhattan with ease.
Julie and her family are awesome. She greeted us at the door and showed us around pointing out things that we may need and made sure we didn't have any questions before she headed back downstairs. Her daughter is adorable (I saw a little face poking out of the door downstairs) and her husband is very nice as well. (we got in way too late each night to catch both kids during awake hours!) Everything is as shown in the photos and her posting is very upfront about what she has/does not have (ie, there is street parking from x time to x time, we do not have an elevator). There were 3 of us and we had more than enough space. We were there for a business trip so we didn't get to take advantage of the kitchen or any of the other amenities she has (ie the TV). She was very gracious and even offered us a later check out time since she didn't have someone coming in right away that afternoon and knew that we were working at least 10 hours the day before. The beds were comfy, lots of pillows! OH! and there are outlets EVERYWHERE. BEST THING EVER. I loved that I didn't have to go hunting for a place to plug in my laptop, phone, battery chargers, etc because they were so plentiful! Location was super easy to find for us and the street parking really wasn't too difficult (especially since we were there during the weekend) I would happily stay here again.
Although Julie was nice, I would NOT recommend this place. It was dirty, there were cockroaches and mice, mildew and mold, grime and sticky stuff on most surfaces. There was nothing to clean with, no sponges, dishcloths, dish towels or paper towels, nothing. We got one bath towel each for the entire stay, which Julie brought up later after we had checked in (she wasn't done doing laundry even though we arrived 2.5hrs after normal check-in). There was also no toilet paper. We went and bought toilet paper and paper towels. And there was hair on the bed linens from a previous guest. In addition to it being dirty, everything was old and on the verge of breaking. The toilet had trouble flushing, the shower produced alternately scalding and then cold water, the shower head was tricky, the Wifi didn't work, the cable tv and remote controls were difficult to use, the coffee pot had the wrong filters and leaked when you tried to pour from it unless you took the lid off, no hot pads so you couldn't cook even if you wanted to use the full kitchen. Also EXTREMELY UNNERVING was the fact that there was no key provided for the apartment door. It had to remain unlocked when we left each day, forcing us to take all of our valuables with us everywhere we went. The neighborhood was sketchy as well. There were people hanging out on neighboring stoops at all hours, a couple of late night parties, and the smell of marijuana drifted into the apartment several times, not sure if that was from downstairs or outside...Finally, the noise restrictions were overboard. The old wood floors were so creaky there was absolutely no possible way to avoid noise while walking about upstairs (even without our shoes on) and yet Julie complained because her husband works nights and sleeps days and her kids sleep nights and have school days. So there was never a time you could just move about normal. We felt so uncomfortable we were whispering most of the time. If you have kids or a larger group, or like things clean, this is NOT the place for you! The only good thing about it was that the beds were very comfy.
Hello everyone ,
First for all the future guests who will be a part of our proud AIRBNB community ,if you ever experiencing a bad experience (like dirty apartment, last minute cancellation from the host or anything horrible )which can not be fix right away by your host you have the possibility and you should call AIRBNB to cancel your stay and get a full refund and they will !!
They will also put you on emergency hosting and will send a collective message to all the hosts in the city you are in who are available at that moment and trust me you will be taking care of ! ;-)
I am chocked on what I am reading right now !! Misty never ever said anything
to me about the issue that she is saying experiencing during her stay.I would have been more than happy to address them if they had been brought to my attention but nothing!
she had many occasions because I saw them almost everyday during their stay
we talked about her sister's kids ,their visit in NYC ,shopping ,told them where to go,even waiting with them for their cab for us to talk even more and still NOTHING !!
first thing first there is no normal checking time with those experiences there is a check in time and an after hour checkout time because hosts are not available at all in between ,you are going in REAL people LIFE this is the point and that is why you are paying cheaper than a hotel and why there is rules . You are in vacations we are not ,we are still working ,taking care of our kids ,still have other appointment like doctor or any important thing and this is why we are communicate and ask you for your arrival time , so when you give us a time of arrival THIS time is your check in time because we organize our self around that time and be able to be flexible as well with the guests before you with their check out time for them to be able to check out later than the check out time just like Misty asked for .
So yes she got her towels (3 towels for 3 guests for 3 nights this is true but if she needed more she could ask for it !) 10 minutes after their arrival which was 6:30pm as agreed because I was out that day but put the laundry in the dryer before leaving and when I came back home at 6pm realize that the towels were still humid so put them 20-30 minutes more Things can happen .
I always put paper towel and toilette paper but I am human if I forgot or you run out or you have questions on the city ,print tickets , WIFI or any thing you just need to knock on my door and ask me and I will be happy to assist you and at the same time get to know you more and ask you questions about your day and visit ;-)
Direct tv ,Comcast ,Time Warner cable ,Dish ,Fios and more have the same type of controller so I think easy for people who leave in USA to use but if you don't
have cable tv at home and don't know how to use it I will be happy to show you how to . ;-)
The apartment is cleaned after each guest ,I didn't experience mice and cockroaches , mildew and mold around here ,my previous guests , the one after Misty and my neighbors nether. We all have cats ! ;-)
And please if you do see a mouse or roaches please call me or come to me immediately ! And will punish my cats ! Lol (kidding)
we will take care of it immediately!!
It is a possibility that when you do take your shower and somebody flush the toilette you will experience a lower pressure but no hotter or colder water, not what I know of .
The keys this is the first thing that I will explain you ,we have in the past experience guests who were closing the door of the apartement and not the house main door leaving my belonging unsafe (imagine my surprise when I came back home after 10 pm and find my hose wild open )
Unfortunately some people don't really care about others so we give the 2 keys of the 2 mains door there is only you and my family leaving here .
My husband ,my 2 kids 6 and 4 years old and me .nothing to worry about if you close those doors .
but shortly I hope for the summer we will try to install a lock with code .
Everything about leaving in somebody's house is about respects , the experience have to be good on both part .
we start 3 years ago with no house rules at all because I thought that respect and treat someone house like yours was commonsense but little by little we realize it was necessary to put (website hidden) it is not a surprise because it is in the house rules that I will ask you at your arrival and during your stay to not wear your shoes in the apartment : talking about dirty !! shoes are the most disgusting thing you could ever bring back to a home .
And yes this is a hard wood floor : so heels and noisy shoes on someone else head are not relaxing at all .
We don't here you guys as long as you are not wearing shoes , and the floor is not creaky to us or we don't hear it !
And when I ask Misty not to wear shoes nicely (airbnb communication) with smiley not to wear them on Sunday morning she even admit that she will try to keep it in mind ! ad that was the only time I mentioned it .Sorry that it offended her by say something even nicely .but if you don't want anyone mention you anything you should respect things ,rules or people at the first place .
I know that people with little kids understand the shoes situation .And actually not because of the noise but more for the hygiene part . ;-)
We have a beautiful block!!!
everybody knows each other ,we are sharing recipes and food ,spend time with each other on ours front house , yes we are hanging out !
We look out for one another !!
most of my neighbors were born in their house and they all grow up together
this neighborhood is safe and friendly .
My direct neighbor Marie-Anne is American-Polish 60 years old and retired and she bakes for all of us and some time will think about my guests so make some more for them .We have Italian families ,some from Trinidad and we all are a big family and we are all between the 30's and 70's
We have a crew next door they moved recently and are younger and they do party sometimes and sorry we can not control what they are smoking or not
this is not our busyness nether yours .
Sorry Misty if people being nice with you saying good morning in the morning when they see you leave and that those same people saying "have a good night"to you when you cane back home were so scary !
I chose this apartment becasue was really nice in the photos, and the photos is showing exactly as it look like. The apartment was really cozy and cute. I went with my parents, old people, and it was the perfect apartment for them. The apartment is really close to the WTC in NY, just 3 train stops. The area is safe and quite, but very close to the busy Manhattan NY.
